Book excerpt: What do you have when you blend a pinch of litrpg, a touch of farming simulator, a sprinkle of epic fantasy, a whole cup of Isekai, and a dash of Home Alone? You have Arnold's life. Accidentally murdered by a cleric in another universe during a botched resurrection, Arnold, a semi-pro gamer, wakes upon an altar to find himself incarnated into the overweight body of a farmer who could have been his fatter twin. He's not the hero. He's not the villain. He's certainly not the chosen one who is there to save the world. He's a clerical error. It could be a bad joke, but apparently, it happens so often that they have a standard procedure for returning you. That standard procedure doesn't apply to Arnold. Now stuck on a new earth, in a new universe, with no way home, Arnold must use his gaming skills to figure out how to level his farmer class to 100 and gain a second class which doesn't make him want to beat his head against the wall. There is just one small problem: farmers don't gain experience from killing monsters. Like at all. Follow Arnold on his hilarious journey as he stubbornly comes to grips with his new reality and tries to change his destiny from that of your typical farmer.

Download or read book Four Fish written by Paul Greenberg and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2010-07-15 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “A necessary book for anyone truly interested in what we take from the sea to eat, and how, and why.” —Sam Sifton, The New York Times Book Review Acclaimed author of American Catch and The Omega Princple and life-long fisherman, Paul Greenberg takes us on a journey, examining the four fish that dominate our menus: salmon, sea bass, cod, and tuna. Investigating the forces that get fish to our dinner tables, Greenberg reveals our damaged relationship with the ocean and its inhabitants. Just three decades ago, nearly everything we ate from the sea was wild. Today, rampant overfishing and an unprecedented biotech revolution have brought us to a point where wild and farmed fish occupy equal parts of a complex marketplace. Four Fish offers a way for us to move toward a future in which healthy and sustainable seafood is the rule rather than the exception.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A compassionate, shame-free guide for your darkest days “A one-of-a-kind book . . . to read for yourself or give to a struggling friend or loved one without the fear that depression and suicidal thoughts will be minimized, medicalized or over-spiritualized.”—Kay Warren, cofounder of Saddleback Church What happens when loving Jesus doesn’t cure you of depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts? You might be crushed by shame over your mental illness, only to be told by well-meaning Christians to “choose joy” and “pray more.” So you beg God to take away the pain, but nothing eases the ache inside. As darkness lingers and color drains from your world, you’re left wondering if God has abandoned you. You just want a way out. But there’s hope. In I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die, Sarah J. Robinson offers a healthy, practical, and shame-free guide for Christians struggling with mental illness. With unflinching honesty, Sarah shares her story of battling depression and fighting to stay alive despite toxic theology that made her afraid to seek help outside the church. Pairing her own story with scriptural insights, mental health research, and simple practices, Sarah helps you reconnect with the God who is present in our deepest anguish and discover that you are worth everything it takes to get better. Beautifully written and full of hard-won wisdom, I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die offers a path toward a rich, hope-filled life in Christ, even when healing doesn’t look like what you expect.
Book Synopsis William Morton ( A.K.A Williamstein ) - a Journey to Freedom by : William Williamstein
Download or read book William Morton ( A.K.A Williamstein ) - a Journey to Freedom written by William Williamstein and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2013-02-07 with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The essence of this book is to show how the town that William lives in, got him sectioned in 1989, simply for writing a couple of harmless letters. He asserts that when a female Muslim constituent stabbed her political representative in London, she was never given such draconian treatment, nor afforded any respect whatsoever when he was a well educated graduate. He goes on to add that continually hassled by a local criminal and his associates, something that he did everything humanly possible to avoid, by contacting doctors, social workers, the police, the chief executive of the council, he was one day seriously assaulted. An attempt at murder of to maim. The town stood by as he became ill, as he could not comprehend how someone who assaulted him could not be viewed as a danger to himself and to others. The police stood by, and amazingly those very same police officers were involved in his demise in 1997 for more draconian treatment. He adds that if he had not been ILLEGALLY removed in1989, he would never have suffered again in 1997, as the sheer awesome terror he suffered by brutal psychiatric staff, left him so fearful of standing up for himself, that he was unable to defend himself later in life. His psyche simply collapsed from the sheer terror of it all. Americans may like to know also how he, as a science graduate was denied lucrative employment in 1992 in a then booming world of computers. Politicians state that people need to get educated. William is living proof of just how the system works. He has been deprived of every freedom commensurate with the west, such as sex, children, cars, and the right to own your own home. The book spells it out as it is in 1984 Britain today, where accommodation is racketed. And for those that know nobody, get left to rot.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Liberal Rednecks--a three-man stand-up comedy group doing scathing political satire--celebrate all that's good about the South while leading the Redneck Revolution and standing proudly blue in a sea of red. Smart, hilarious, and incisive, the Liberal Rednecks confront outdated traditions and intolerant attitudes, tackling everything people think they know about the South--the good, the bad, the glorious, and the shameful--in a laugh-out-loud funny and lively manifesto for the rise of a New South. Home to some of the best music, athletes, soldiers, whiskey, waffles, and weather the country has to offer, the South has also been bathing in backward bathroom bills and other bigoted legislation that Trae Crowder has targeted in his Liberal Redneck videos, which have gone viral with over 50 million views. Perfect for fans of Stuff White People Like and I Am America (And So Can You), The Liberal Redneck Manifesto skewers political and religious hypocrisies in witty stories and hilarious graphics--such as the Ten Commandments of the New South--and much more! While celebrating the South as one of the richest sources of American culture, this entertaining book issues a wake-up call and a reminder that the South's problems and dreams aren't that far off from the rest of America's"--

As an ex-con with little experience in anything other than criminal enterprises and bad decisions, Sonny’s job prospects are not looking good, even in the middle of a blistering summer in the little Cape Cod tourist trap town he calls home. Worse still, he’s sleeping with a shady stripper that works as an informant for a dirty cop that hates him and has a penchant for extreme violence. So when Sonny’s old partner-in-crime and stoner buddy Crash offers to bring him in on a caper to rob a velvet painting vendor that promises to yield some quick money, he has to listen. But nothing has prepared Sonny for the vortex of mayhem and madness he’s about to fall into. In a cloud of marijuana smoke, he and Crash descend into the hot summer night, on the run from an array of crazed characters populating the darkest and seediest corners of Cape Cod after dark. And now, what seemed like an easy score turns instead into a surreal nightmare both horrific and darkly hilarious. Sonny just wants to get home, but it’ll take all night—this night—a crazy night that just keeps getting crazier, and one he’ll need to make right before things spiral so far out of control they’ll never get out alive. Sonny Cantone is having a really bad day. Wait until he sees the next twenty-four hours.
