Book excerpt: El presente Proyecto se ha estructurado, aprovechando la ampliación de la Ley de Preferencias Arancelarias Andinas derivada de la nueva política del Gobierno de los Estados Unidos de Norteamérica, gracias a la cual se han incrementado las oportunidades de colocación de diversos productos del Perú en el mediano plazo, por lo cual se ha visto conveniente tomar la determinación de evaluar la exportación a nivel FOB, de muebles de madera de estilo rústico a los Estados Unidos. Cabe señalar que la dinámica en la importación de estos productos por parte de este país ha estado en parte sustentada por el crecimiento de la construcción y reparaciones de inmuebles, el que a su vez a dependido del crecimiento de la economía norteamericana en general la cual como es sabido se ha mantenido fuerte y estable durante toda la década de los 90 ́s. Dentro de las importaciones por parte de los Estados Unidos, uno de los sectores con mayores índices de crecimiento ha sido el de muebles y sus accesorios, el cual entre los años 1997 al 2001 ha tenido un incremento del 70%, seguido de cerca por hilados con un 60% para el mismo período. Recientes investigaciones acerca de los gustos y preferencias de los consumidores norteamericanos han determinado que la tendencia de los estilos de muebles de madera es hacia los muebles rústicos.
