Book Synopsis Nuclear Physics by : National Research Council
Download or read book Nuclear Physics written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 1999-03-31 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dramatic progress has been made in all branches of physics since the National Research Council's 1986 decadal survey of the field. The Physics in a New Era series explores these advances and looks ahead to future goals. The series includes assessments of the major subfields and reports on several smaller subfields, and preparation has begun on an overview volume on the unity of physics, its relationships to other fields, and its contributions to national needs. Nuclear Physics is the latest volume of the series. The book describes current activity in understanding nuclear structure and symmetries, the behavior of matter at extreme densities, the role of nuclear physics in astrophysics and cosmology, and the instrumentation and facilities used by the field. It makes recommendations on the resources needed for experimental and theoretical advances in the coming decade.

Book Synopsis Nuclear Physics of Stars by : Christian Iliadis
Download or read book Nuclear Physics of Stars written by Christian Iliadis and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2015-04-13 with total page 675 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most elements are synthesized, or "cooked", by thermonuclear reactions in stars. The newly formed elements are released into the interstellar medium during a star's lifetime, and are subsequently incorporated into a new generation of stars, into the planets that form around the stars, and into the life forms that originate on the planets. Moreover, the energy we depend on for life originates from nuclear reactions that occur at the center of the Sun. Synthesis of the elements and nuclear energy production in stars are the topics of nuclear astrophysics, which is the subject of this book. It presents nuclear structure and reactions, thermonuclear reaction rates, experimental nuclear methods, and nucleosynthesis in detail. These topics are discussed in a coherent way, enabling the reader to grasp their interconnections intuitively. The book serves both as a textbook for advanced undergraduate and graduate students, with worked examples and end-of-chapter excercises, but also as a reference book for use by researchers working in the field of nuclear astrophysics.
Book Synopsis Proton Therapy Physics by : Harald Paganetti
Download or read book Proton Therapy Physics written by Harald Paganetti and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2016-04-19 with total page 691 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Proton Therapy Physics goes beyond current books on proton therapy to provide an in-depth overview of the physics aspects of this radiation therapy modality, eliminating the need to dig through information scattered in the medical physics literature. After tracing the history of proton therapy, the book summarizes the atomic and nuclear physics background necessary for understanding proton interactions with tissue. It describes the physics of proton accelerators, the parameters of clinical proton beams, and the mechanisms to generate a conformal dose distribution in a patient. The text then covers detector systems and measuring techniques for reference dosimetry, outlines basic quality assurance and commissioning guidelines, and gives examples of Monte Carlo simulations in proton therapy. The book moves on to discussions of treatment planning for single- and multiple-field uniform doses, dose calculation concepts and algorithms, and precision and uncertainties for nonmoving and moving targets. It also examines computerized treatment plan optimization, methods for in vivo dose or beam range verification, the safety of patients and operating personnel, and the biological implications of using protons from a physics perspective. The final chapter illustrates the use of risk models for common tissue complications in treatment optimization. Along with exploring quality assurance issues and biological considerations, this practical guide collects the latest clinical studies on the use of protons in treatment planning and radiation monitoring. Suitable for both newcomers in medical physics and more seasoned specialists in radiation oncology, the book helps readers understand the uncertainties and limitations of precisely shaped dose distribution.

Book Synopsis Hypotheses-3. Genesis and Evolution of Atoms and space bodies by : Аркадий Серков
Download or read book Hypotheses-3. Genesis and Evolution of Atoms and space bodies written by Аркадий Серков and published by Litres. This book was released on 2022-05-17 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Book “Hypotheses-3: Genesis and Evolution of Atoms and Cosmic Bodies”. is the final one in the series “Hypotheses. Serkov AT ". The first book in this series was published in 1998. This book examines the formation of chemical elements, their evolution and decay. The initial product is hydrogen (protons), which is formed by condensation of sub-elementary particles and during nuclear reactions by the mechanism of the formation of «secondary drops» when a «drop» of nuclear liquid hits the surface of the liquid nucleus of an atom (crown splash effect). An increase in the mass of atoms occurs as a result of the orbital capture of atoms of light elements, their subsequent deceleration and fall on the nucleus, as a result of which the frequency of rotation of nuclei increases, leading to periodic disruption of dynamic boundary layers and, accordingly, to a periodic change in the properties of chemical elements. An increase in the speed of rotation of stars with an increase in their mass indicates the occurrence of similar processes in space and the main sequence in the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram reflects the process of an increase in the mass of stars due to orbital captures of red and brown dwarfs. Periodic changes in the properties of exoplanetary systems are predicted depending on the mass of stars, in particular, their sizes.
Book Synopsis Verification of the P. Laplace’s hypothesis “on the transformation of gravitational forces in molecular" by : Аркадий Серков
Download or read book Verification of the P. Laplace’s hypothesis “on the transformation of gravitational forces in molecular" written by Аркадий Серков and published by Litres. This book was released on 2022-05-17 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book was first published in Russian in 2014. The main idea of the book was to try to prove that the basis of all physical and chemical processes is mass, or rather the interaction of masses of elementary particles, and not mythical electric charges. It can say that a significant part of the author's life was devoted to this. All this time, the author was inspired by the idea (hypothesis) of PS Laplace that the forces acting between the molecules of matter are transformed, modified gravitational forces. To prove the hypothesis put forward, Laplace carried out calculations in which he showed that in the transition from gravitational forces to molecular forces, the density of matter in elementary particles increases 10^10 times. Such a significant increase in the density of matter leads to an increase in the intensity of gravitational forces, their transformation into molecular ones.
