Download or read book Modern Drying Technology, Volume 5 written by Evangelos Tsotsas and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-01-10 with total page 409 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This five-volume series provides a comprehensive overview of all important aspects of modern drying technology, concentrating on the transfer of cutting-edge research results to industrial use. Volume 5 is dedicated to process intensification by hybrid processes that combine convective or contact heat transfer with microwaves, ultrasound or radiation. Process intensification by more efficient choice, distribution, and flow of the drying medium - such as impinging jet drying, pulse combustion drying, superheated steam drying, drying in specially designed spouted beds - are thoroughly discussed. Moreover, methods that favorably affect the process by changing the structure of the drying product, e.g. foaming, electroporation, are treated. Emphasis is placed on drying, including freeze-drying, of sensitive materials such as foods, biomaterials and pharmaceuticals. Book Synopsis Heat Transfer Characteristics Within an Array of Impinging Jets. Effects of Crossflow Temperature Relative to Jet Temperature by : L. W. Florschuetz
Download or read book Heat Transfer Characteristics Within an Array of Impinging Jets. Effects of Crossflow Temperature Relative to Jet Temperature written by L. W. Florschuetz and published by . This book was released on 1985 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Spanwise average heat fluxes, resolved in the streamwise direction to one stream-wise hole spacing were measured for two-dimensional arrays of circular air jets impinging on a heat transfer surface parallel to the jet orifice plate. The jet flow, after impingement, was constrained to exit in a single direction along the channel formed by the jet orifice plate and heat transfer surface. The crossflow originated from the jets following impingement and an initial crossflow was present that approached the array through an upstream extension of the channel. The regional average heat fluxes are considered as a function of parameters associated with corresponding individual spanwise rows within the array. A linear superposition model was employed to formulate appropriate governing parameters for the individual row domain. The effects of flow history upstream of an individual row domain are also considered. The results are formulated in terms of individual spanwise row parameters. A corresponding set of streamwise resolved heat transfer characteristics formulated in terms of flow and geometric parameters characterizing the overall arrays is described.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gas turbine engines will still represent a key technology in the next 20-year energy scenarios, either in stand-alone applications or in combination with other power generation equipment. This book intends in fact to provide an updated picture as well as a perspective vision of some of the major improvements that characterize the gas turbine technology in different applications, from marine and aircraft propulsion to industrial and stationary power generation. Therefore, the target audience for it involves design, analyst, materials and maintenance engineers. Also manufacturers, researchers and scientists will benefit from the timely and accurate information provided in this volume. The book is organized into five main sections including 21 chapters overall: (I) Aero and Marine Gas Turbines, (II) Gas Turbine Systems, (III) Heat Transfer, (IV) Combustion and (V) Materials and Fabrication.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in Heat Transfer fills the information gap between regularly scheduled journals and university level textbooks by providing in-depth review articles over a broader scope than in journals or texts. The articles, which serve as a broad review for experts in the field, will also be of great interest to non-specialists who need to keep up-to- date with the results of the latest research. It is essential reading for all mechanical, chemical and industrial engineers working in the field of heat transfer, graduate schools or industry. Provides an overview of review articles on topics of current interest Bridges the gap between academic researchers and practitioners in industry A long-running and prestigious series

This book was released on 1971 with total page 49 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An experimental investigation was undertaken to study jet impingement cooling of a semi-cylindrical concave surface in a semi-enclosed environment. The investigation showed that it was possible to obtain a correlating formula for the various parameters involved. The effect of jet 'spent air' on heat transfer was also observed. The results are compared with those of Kercher and Tabakoff who carried out a similar investigation using a flat plate. (Author).

Book Synopsis Infrared Thermography for Thermo-Fluid-Dynamics by : Tommaso Astarita
Download or read book Infrared Thermography for Thermo-Fluid-Dynamics written by Tommaso Astarita and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-08-04 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Infrared thermography is a measurement technique that enables to obtain non intrusive measurements of surface temperatures. One of the interesting features of this technique is its ability to measure a full two dimensional map of the surface temperature and for this reason it has been widely used as a flow visualization technique. Since the temperature measurements can be extremely accurate it is possible, by using a heat flux sensor, also to measure convective heat transfer coefficient distributions on a surface making the technique de facto quantitative. This book, starting from the basic theory of infrared thermography and heat flux sensor guides, both the experienced researcher and the young student, in the correct application of this powerful technique to various practical problems. A significant number of examples and applications are also examined in detail.
