Download or read book Newark Airport written by Henry M. Holden and published by Arcadia Publishing. This book was released on 2009 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Newark Airport was the first major airport in the New York metropolitan area. It opened on October 1, 1928, occupying an area of filled-in marshland. In 1935, Amelia Earhart dedicated the Newark Airport Administration Building, which was North America's first commercial airline terminal. Newark was the busiest airport in the world until LaGuardia Airport, in New York, opened in 1939. During World War II, Newark was closed to passenger traffic and controlled by the United States Army Air Force for logistics operations. The Port Authority of New York took over the airport in 1948 and made major investments in airport infrastructure. It expanded, opened new runways and hangars, and improved the airport's terminal layout. The art deco administration building served as the main terminal until the opening of the North Terminal in 1953. The administration building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

Book Synopsis Big Data Integration by : Xin Luna Dong
Download or read book Big Data Integration written by Xin Luna Dong and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-05-31 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The big data era is upon us: data are being generated, analyzed, and used at an unprecedented scale, and data-driven decision making is sweeping through all aspects of society. Since the value of data explodes when it can be linked and fused with other data, addressing the big data integration (BDI) challenge is critical to realizing the promise of big data. BDI differs from traditional data integration along the dimensions of volume, velocity, variety, and veracity. First, not only can data sources contain a huge volume of data, but also the number of data sources is now in the millions. Second, because of the rate at which newly collected data are made available, many of the data sources are very dynamic, and the number of data sources is also rapidly exploding. Third, data sources are extremely heterogeneous in their structure and content, exhibiting considerable variety even for substantially similar entities. Fourth, the data sources are of widely differing qualities, with significant differences in the coverage, accuracy and timeliness of data provided. This book explores the progress that has been made by the data integration community on the topics of schema alignment, record linkage and data fusion in addressing these novel challenges faced by big data integration. Each of these topics is covered in a systematic way: first starting with a quick tour of the topic in the context of traditional data integration, followed by a detailed, example-driven exposition of recent innovative techniques that have been proposed to address the BDI challenges of volume, velocity, variety, and veracity. Finally, it presents merging topics and opportunities that are specific to BDI, identifying promising directions for the data integration community.

Book Synopsis The Lambert W Function by : Istvan Mezo
Download or read book The Lambert W Function written by Istvan Mezo and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-04-10 with total page 275 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the very first one in the English language entirely dedicated to the Lambert W function, its generalizations, and its applications. One goal is to promote future research on the topic. The book contains all the information one needs when trying to find a result. The most important formulas and results are framed. The Lambert W function is a multi-valued inverse function with plenty of applications in areas like molecular physics, relativity theory, fuel consumption models, plasma physics, analysis of epidemics, bacterial growth models, delay differential equations, fluid mechanics, game theory, statistics, study of magnetic materials, and so on. The first part of the book gives a full treatise of the W function from theoretical point of view. The second part presents generalizations of this function which have been introduced by the need of applications where the classical W function is insufficient. The third part presents a large number of applications from physics, biology, game theory, bacterial cell growth models, and so on. The second part presents the generalized Lambert functions based on the tools we had developed in the first part. In the third part familiarity with Newtonian physics will be useful. The text is written to be accessible for everyone with only basic knowledge on calculus and complex numbers. Additional features include the Further Notes sections offering interesting research problems and information for further studies. Mathematica codes are included. The Lambert function is arguably the simplest non-elementary transcendental function out of the standard set of sin, cos, log, etc., therefore students who would like to deepen their understanding of real and complex analysis can see a new “almost elementary” function on which they can practice their knowledge.
