Book excerpt: But : Ce travail a pour but de décrire et synthétiser les données existantes dans la littérature sur le sujet des loisirs des personnes âgées suite à l'arrêt de la conduite automobile. Il vise à répondre à la question suivante : Comment les loisirs à l'extérieur du domicile se modifient-ils à la suit de l'arrêt de la conduite automobile chez les personnes âgées ? Méthode : Ce travail est une scoping review basée sur la littérature disponible sur les bases de données Cinahl, Pubmed et Web of science. L'étude est construite selon la méthodologie présentée pat Peters et al. (2020) qui a permis de retenir six études pertinentes pour notre sujet. Résultats : La conceptualisation des loisirs est propre à chaque étude. Toutefois, les similitudes qui apparaissent permettent de dégager des liens entre elle. L'ensemble des articles montre des effets à l'arrêt de la conduite sur les activités sociales et de loisirs. C'est principalement le type d'activité qui se modifie avec notamment une diminution des loisirs à forte demande physique et des loisirs sociaux, ainsi qu'une augmentation des loisirs solitaires. De manière globale, les activités à l'extérieur du domicile sont réduites. L'accès aux loisirs peut devenir complexe lorsque la conduite est arrêtée. Les personnes peuvent rencontrer des difficultés à trouver et à utiliser un moyen de transport qui correspond à leurs besoins. En effet, les loisirs demandent des déplacements plus individualisés que les autres activités. De plus, les activités sociales et de loisirs ayant tendance à être jugées comme étant moins prioritaires, elles risquent par conséquent davantage d'être délaissées. Les restrictions de déplacements limitent également l'accès à la communauté, ce qui peut influencer la participation sociale des personnes âgées à mener un isolement. Néanmoins, l'anticipation de l'arrêt de la conduite, par exemple au travers d'un accompagnement spécifique, peut permettre aux personnes âgées de s'adapter plus aisément à ce changement et les aider à maintenir leurs activités significatives. Conclusion : Nous avons constaté qu'il existe peu de données précises concernant les activités sociales et de loisirs, spécifiques à la population âgée. Toutefois, avec le vieillissement de la population, il semble pertinent d'approfondir cette thématique et de développer davantage de pistes pour accompagner les personnes âgées dans l'arrêt de la conduite.
