The four most prominent symptoms are tremors, which can occur in the hands, arms, legs, jaw, or head; rigidity, which refers to a stiffness in the limbs and trunk; bradykinesia, which refers to a slowing of movement; and postural instability, which refers to an impairment in balance. These symptoms typically start off mild and then get increasingly severe over time. Patients may have difficulty walking, talking, or accomplishing other simple tasks as they become more pronounced. Patients may also have trouble completing other duties. Parkinson's disease is not always present when a person exhibits one or more of these symptoms because the symptoms might occasionally be signs of other diseases as well.
