Book excerpt: Sporting the number thirty-four on her jersey, Nicole Sheriff is a natural athlete who excels at every sport she tries; she especially loves basketball, softball, and field hockey. During her seventh-grade year at Northampton Middle School, she feels an ongoing, severe pain in her back. Doctors find a mass the size of a softball on her spine and determine that she suffers from Stage 4 Ewing sarcoma, an aggressive form of cancer with a 30 percent survival rate. Nicole and her parents understand the disease is going to consume a lot of their time, energy, and thoughts. Not one to give up or wallow in self-pity, Nicole knows this will be a battle for her life no different, really, than an athletic contest. As an athlete, she is prepared to go down swinging; she will never give up. Based on a true story, Every Child Needs an Angel narrates Nicole's battle with cancer, her reliance on faith, and her mission to help others and to make a difference. It recounts the unwavering support from friends, neighbors, co-workers, medical staff, and coaches those who became angels to Nicole in her time of need.

Angels: a 90-Day Devotional about God’s Messengers explores over one hundred Bible passages in which angels make an appearance. In addition, there are Q and As, myths busters, hymns, Bible story retellings, pop culture references, and trivia that help you sort fact from fiction. Book excerpt: Entertainers Roy and Dale Evans Rogers were thrilled when their little daughter Robin was born. But their excitement turned to concern when they were informed that Robin was born with Down's Syndrome and advised to "put her away." The Rogers ignored such talk and instead kept Robin, and she graced their home for two and a half years. Though Robin's time on earth was short, she changed her parents' lives and even made life better for other children born with special needs in the years to come. Angel Unaware is Robin's account of her life as she looks down from heaven. As she speaks to God about the mission of love she just completed on earth, the reader sees how she brought her parents closer to God and encouraged them to help other children in need. This book, which changed the way America treated children with special needs, is now available to a new generation. It is the perfect gift for parents of special needs children, parents grieving the death of a child, or anyone whose life has been touched by a special child.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Angel Children is a careful presentation of Latter-day Saint doctrine concerning the status of children who pass away before being baptized. It is a compassionate book which brings comfort and consolation through increased understanding to those who read it. The author, Mary V Hill, lost her own child and shares the emotions she felt during that trying period. She deals with aspects of religious life when serious illness develops: effective prayer, faith and healing, priesthood administration, man's appointed time to die, and one's attitude towards death. The subject then shifts to the status of little children after their passing. She shows how little children need no baptism, that they are heirs of the Celestial Kingdom, and that they are redeemed from the temptations of Satan. Life in the Spirit World is discussed, then the resurrection and the status of children following the resurrection is considered. Another chapter is devoted to the status of retarded children here on earth. The author shows that the eternal spirit of a retarded child is not affected by the illness and discusses the eternal plan for such children. Great comfort is found in the final chapter: Overcoming the Challenge. The author tells of the necessity for having a positive attitude, mourning and being comforted, and ends with the reassurance that after much tribulation come the blessings. Angel Children is readable and inspirational. It is also a valuable collection of doctrinal materials on this important subject, including the scriptures and words of instruction and counsel by General Authorities of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Horizon Publishers is pleased to recommend it highly!

Jonah Stone is here! What if Nephilim—the children of angels and men—still walked the earth? And their very presence put the entire world in danger? In Spirit Fighter, Jonah and Eliza Stone learn that their mother is a Nephilim and that they have special powers as quarter-angels. When their mom is kidnapped by fallen angels, they must use those powers to save her. Along the way, they discover that there is a very real and dangerous war going on between good and evil and that God has a big part for them to play in that war. Parents today are looking for fiction that makes Christianity and the Bible exciting for their kids. This series is the Christian answer to Percy Jackson and the Olympians, The Kane Chronicles, The Secret Series and other middle-grade series packed with adventure, action, and supernatural fights. Son of Angels, Jonah Stone will be the first series in the market to explore this topic from a biblical perspective with content that is appropriate and exciting for middle-grade readers. “Jerel Law has crafted a fantastic story that will leave every reader wanting more. Stop looking for the next great read in fantasy fiction for young readers—you’ve found it!” —Robert Liparulo, bestselling author of Dreamhouse Kings and The 13th Tribe
