Book Synopsis Seeing and Savoring Jesus Christ (Revised Edition) by : John Piper
Download or read book Seeing and Savoring Jesus Christ (Revised Edition) written by John Piper and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2004-10-27 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who is Jesus Christ? You've never met him in person, and you don't know anyone who has. But there is a way to know who he is. How? Jesus Christ-the divine Person revealed in the Bible-has a unique excellence and a spiritual beauty that speaks directly to our souls and says, "Yes, this is truth." It's like seeing the sun and knowing that it is light, or tasting honey and knowing that it is sweet. The depth and complexity of Jesus shatter our simple mental frameworks. He baffled proud scribes with his wisdom but was understood and loved by children. He calmed a raging storm with a word but would not get himself down from the cross. Look at the Jesus of the Bible. Keep your eyes open, and fill them with the portrait of Jesus in God's Word. Jesus said, "If anyone's will is to do God's will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority." Ask God for the grace to do his will, and you will see the truth of his Son. John Piper has written this book in the hope that all will see Jesus for who he really is and will come to enjoy him above all else.
Book Synopsis Life After Heaven by : Steven R. Musick
Download or read book Life After Heaven written by Steven R. Musick and published by WaterBrook. This book was released on 2017-03-07 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After a deadly medical mistake sent a navy sailor to the presence of Jesus, he returned from his near-death experience with new eyes to see the kingdom of heaven in this life. Now he wants to help you experience heaven on earth today. For years Steve Musick kept his amazing story to himself, afraid no one would believe or understand it. A major allergic reaction had stopped his heart, hurling him into a five-week coma and a powerful experience of heaven. After returning to life, he couldn’t forget the memory of that vibrant place—and, most of all, the loving words and touch of Jesus. But that was only the beginning. An amazing series of miracles, dreams, and other supernatural events had been set in motion, showing Steve that heaven was close, even in this life. God was calling him to discover echoes of heaven in the here and now—echoes that can happen at any moment, to anyone—that bring overwhelming joy. At last Steve is ready to tell the story of his journey of a lifetime—two lifetimes. In it you’ll learn the secret of bringing heaven to earth in your everyday world, and how to nurture a relationship with God so real and intimate that you’ll feel his nearness as strongly as Steven did. Experience one man’s incredible vision of heaven—and learn how you can live in God’s presence and power today.
Book Synopsis Luke's Stories of Jesus by : David Lee
Download or read book Luke's Stories of Jesus written by David Lee and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 1999-11-01 with total page 411 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The current interest in reading the Gospels as narratives has reclaimed aspects of these texts that historical-critical approaches failed to respect. The richness of these newer readings can, however, disguise their limitations as literary-critical exercises. Developing Hans Frei's concern for theological reading, David Lee reworks the narratology of the Dutch literary theorist Mieke Bal to produce a theological narrative reading practice that formally respects the text as scripture while leaving open the possible meanings that readers may construct for themselves in the act of reading. Lee demonstrates his approach through readings of the Narrator and the characters Jesus and the Demons as aspects of a composite Lukan narrative Christology.

Book Synopsis A Classified Look At The Great Satan Of America by : Mark C. Russell
Download or read book A Classified Look At The Great Satan Of America written by Mark C. Russell and published by Fulton Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2021-05-10 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: IT DEVELOPED INTO A DEATH THREAT... AND THEN MY PHYSICAL WELL BEING. It began at a very young age; I was inspired to be an accomplished springboard diver and an academic student. With an undefeated 3 year high school diving run I accomplished an unprecedented diving 3 time gold medal State Championship and a 3 time All America; also I earned a top 10% academic standing. At the University of Kentucky (i.e.UK) I earned a Bachelor's degree in accounting and at R.I.T. I earned a Master's degree in accounting. At UK I earned a full diving athletic scholarship which included co-captain and a closely contested outstanding 4th place finish in the SEC. I've always been and will be a devout Christian; thanks to my parents. It wasn't until my classified auditing job with the Department of Defense that my life went awry. I believe that Satan himself was trying to snatch me from my belief in Jesus Christ. A coworker kept on his regimen in blaspheming God until several times I had asked him to relent. The Government's Satanic System was and still is illegally surveillancing me and I told the Government I was going to expose them for their corrupt Satanic System. In turn, they gave me a death threat, threatened my physical well being and ever since then they have snatched away my pursuit of happiness. They are always watching my every move and up until now it has been a hellish journey. By finally publishing this book, hopefully the journey can now change direction.
Book Synopsis A Translator's Handbook on the Gospel of Luke by : J. Reiling

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook, like others in this series, concentrates on exegetical matters that are of prime importance for translators, and it attempts to indicate possible solutions for translational problems that may arise because of language or culture. In this respect the Handbook attempts to deal with the full range of information important to translators. However, the authors do not attempt to provide help that other theologians and scholars may be seeking but which is not directly useful for the task of translating. It is assumed that such information is available elsewhere.
Book Synopsis No Greater Love, No Greater Sacrifice by : Jeremiah F. Stephens
Download or read book No Greater Love, No Greater Sacrifice written by Jeremiah F. Stephens and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2020-02-09 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The poems contained in this book were all written at key points in my life. In essence, each poem served as a source of inspiration to get me through dark times and remind me of my dependency on the grace of God. Each piece included in this book focuses on salvation and who you are in God! You may notice that some of these pieces have a unique flow and structure that one would normally associate with lyrics to a song, and such pieces can be converted to contemporary Gospel songs. Because of the connection between these poems and my heart, I feel these are my most personal work. This book is the first of more to come. I hope that in reading these short pieces you too can be inspired to believe. I believe these poems will inspire you, no matter where you may find yourself in life, as they will serve to remind you that you are somebody because God values you! The greatest message God ever proclaimed to humanity was through the sacrifice of His Son Jesus through His death upon the cross. We live in a world that does not value human dignity, a world that treats people as if they are commodities! But I hope to introduce you through these writings, to a higher love. It is my desire that you learn to see yourself through the eyes of God rather than through the eyes of the world! Remember, better is not good enough! The best is yet to come.

Book Synopsis Lectures on New Testament Theology by : Peter C. Hodgson
Download or read book Lectures on New Testament Theology written by Peter C. Hodgson and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2016-03-24 with total page 345 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ferdinand Christian Baur (1792-1860), one of the great innovators in the study of the New Testament, argued that each of its books reflects the interests and tendencies of its author in a particular religio-historical milieu. A critique of the writings must precede any judgments about the historical validity of individual stories about Jesus in the Gospels. Thus Baur could move beyond the impasse created by Strauss's Life of Jesus. Baur demonstrated that the Gospel of John is not a historical document comparable to the Synoptic Gospels and cannot be used to reconstruct the teaching of Jesus, and that the Synoptic Gospels must be read critically and selectively. He applied the same principles to the Epistles, arguing that only four are genuinely Pauline (Galatians, 1 and 2 Corinthians, and Romans). Baur's Lectures on New Testament Theology, delivered in Tübingen during the 1850s, summarize thirty years of his research. The lectures begin with an Introduction on the concept, history, and organization of New Testament theology. Part One is devoted to the teaching of Jesus, which Baur finds most reliably in Matthew. Part Two contains the teaching of the Apostles in three chronological periods. The first period presents the theological frameworks of the Apostle Paul and the Book of Revelation; the second period, the frameworks of Hebrews, the Deutero-Pauline Epistles, James and Peter, the Synoptic Gospels and Acts; and the third period, those of the Pastoral Epistles and the Gospel of John.

I hope that your journey will be as insightful for you as it was for me.
