Pour autant, peu d'études s'intéressent aux facteurs pouvant influencer leurs productions.Trente-six enfants avec TSA, âgés de 6 à 12 ans, ont été évalués en train de produire sur demande des EF correspondant à la joie, la tristesse, la colère et la neutralité. Ainsi, la qualité des productions des EF apparaît meilleure en tâche de mime qu'en tâche d'imitation et les EF renvoyant à la neutralité et à la joie sont celles significativement les mieux produites, viennent ensuite la colère et la tristesse. Aucun effet significatif n'a été retrouvé concernant l'influence de l'âge ou du genre des enfants sur la qualité des productions.L'utilisation des jeux sérieux pour travailler les habiletés sociales se développe actuellement. Vingt-six des enfants avec TSA sont revenus afin de tester le jeu sérieux JEMImE, conçu pour apprendre aux enfants avec TSA à produire des EF correctes en termes de qualité et d'adaptabilité en contexte. Pendant le jeu, il apparaît que les enfants produisent également mieux la joie et la colère que la tristesse. Un effet d'apprentissage lié à l'entraînement par le jeu est également objectivé par des performances qui s'améliorent au cours du temps.A travers les réponses aux questionnaires proposés en fin de jeu et les commentaires spontanés des enfants recueillis, il ressort que JEMImE semble être un support de travail ergonomique très plaisant, qui permet de s'exercer à la production d'EF de bonne qualité, de façon précise et ludique.

Si de nombreuses études s'intéressent à leur reconnaissance, peu évaluent leur production chez l'enfant typique et avec TSA. Les nouvelles technologies sont plébiscitées pour travailler les habiletés sociales auprès des enfants avec TSA, or, peu d'études concernent leur utilisation pour le travail de la production des EFE. Au début de ce projet, nous retrouvions seulement 4 jeux la travaillant. Notre objectif a été la création du jeu sérieux JEMImE travaillant la production des EFE chez l'enfant avec TSA grâce à un feedback automatisé. Nous avons d'abord constitué une base de données d'EFE d'enfants typiques et avec TSA pour créer un algorithme de reconnaissance des EFE et étudier leurs compétences de production. Plusieurs facteurs les influencent comme l'âge, le type d'émotion, la culture. Les EFE des enfants avec TSA sont jugées de moins bonne qualité par des juges humains et par l'algorithme de reconnaissance des EFE qui a besoin de plus de points repères sur leurs visages pour classer leurs EFE. L'algorithme ensuite intégré dans JEMImE donne un retour visuel en temps réel à l'enfant pour corriger ses productions. Une étude pilote auprès de 23 enfants avec TSA met en avant une bonne adaptation des enfants aux retours de l'algorithme ainsi qu'une bonne expérience dans l'utilisation du jeu. Ces résultats prometteurs ouvrent la voie à un développement plus poussé du jeu pour augmenter le temps de jeu et ainsi évaluer l'effet de cet entraînement sur la production des EFE chez les enfants avec TSA.

L'objectif de notre étude est de proposer un protocole d'évaluation de la reconnaissance des expressions faciales écologique et adapté aux sujets TSA de bas niveau ou non verbaux. Matériel et méthode : 218 enfants neurotypiques (NT) âgés de 2 à 6 ans et 9 enfants avec TSA d'âge développemental compris entre 2 et 6 ans ont réalisé des tâches non verbales d'appariement et de catégorisation de photographies de personnes exprimant la joie, la colère, la tristesse et la surprise ainsi qu'une tâche présentant des photographies de contextes à valence émotionnelle positive ou négative. Résultats : Les performances des enfants NT s'améliorent avec l'âge et la surprise est l'émotion la mieux reconnue. Il n'existe pas de différence significative entre les performances des enfants TSA et NT à âge développemental équivalent. Conclusion : Le protocole permet d'évaluer la reconnaissance des expressions faciales chez des enfants TSA avec déficience intellectuelle sans que ceux-ci soient lésés par leurs difficultés d'accès au langage.

Computers and games may create supports for training or help people with cognitive, emotional, or behavioral change. Games take various formats, from board games to informatics to games with interactive rules of play. Similarly, computer tools may vary widely in format, from self-help or assisted computerized training to virtual reality or applications for smartphones. Some tools that may be helpful for mental health were specifically designed for that goal, whereas others were not. Gamification of computer-related products and games with a numeric format tend to reduce the gap between games and computers tools and increase the conceptual synergy in such fields. Games and computer design share an opportunity for creativity and innovation to help create, specifically design, and assess preventive or therapeutic tools. Computers and games share a design conception that allows innovative approaches to overcome barriers of the real world by creating their own rules. Yet, despite the potential interest in such tools to improve treatment of mental disorders and to help prevent them, the field remains understudied and information is under-disseminated in clinical practice. Some studies have shown, however, that there is potential interest and acceptability of tools that support various vehicles, rationales, objectives, and formats. These tools include traditional games (e.g., chess games), popular electronic games, board games, computer-based interventions specifically designed for psychotherapy or cognitive training, virtual reality, apps for smartphones, and so forth. Computers and games may offer a true opportunity to develop, assess, and disseminate new prevention and treatment tools for mental health and well-being. Currently, there is a strong need for state-of-the-art information to answer questions such as the following: Why develop such tools for mental health and well-being? What are the potential additions to traditional treatments? What are the best strategies or formats to improve the possible impact of these tools? Are such tools useful as a first treatment step? What is the potential of a hybrid model of care that combines traditional approaches with games and/or computers as tools? What games and applications have already been designed and studied? What is the evidence from previous studies? How can such tools be successfully designed for mental health and well-being? What is rewarding or attractive for patients in using such treatments? What are the worldwide developments in the field? Are some protocols under development? What are the barriers and challenges related to such developments? How can these tools be assessed, and how can the way that they work, and for whom, be measured?
