This book was released on 2016-03-08 with total page 41 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A New York Times Best Illustrated Children's Book A New York Public Library Best Book for Kids, 2016 Told from the perspective of the tree outside Anne Frank's window—and illustrated by a Caldecott Honor artist—this book introduces her story in a gentle and incredibly powerful way to a young audience. The tree in the courtyard was a horse chestnut. Her leaves were green stars; her flowers foaming cones of white and pink. Seagulls flocked to her shade. She spread roots and reached skyward in peace. The tree watched a little girl, who played and laughed and wrote in a diary. When strangers invaded the city and warplanes roared overhead, the tree watched the girl peek out of the curtained window of the annex. It watched as she and her family were taken away—and when her father returned after the war, alone. The tree died the summer Anne Frank would have turned eighty-one, but its seeds and saplings have been planted around the world as a symbol of peace. Its story, and Anne’s story, are beautifully told and illustrated in this powerful picture book.

Book Synopsis Patterns of Creation by : Stephen Pope
Download or read book Patterns of Creation written by Stephen Pope and published by John Hunt Publishing. This book was released on 2012-06-29 with total page 291 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a radical exploration of the mystical teachings in the Gospel of John. It helps the reader to experience these spiritual truths for themselves, and go beyond the everyday mind, which is dominated by the ego and realize their eternal Being, which Johns Gospel calls Logos. By approaching the teachings in a meditative state, the symbolism contained within the Greek text opens out and comes alive in the present moment. The Gospel is not a historical document; it speaks directly to each person now and the states of consciousness represented in the stories are accessible now. The book contains guided meditations to help bring this to life for the reader. This awakening concerns our relationship with the whole of life. Spiritual consciousness means that we are aware of the sacredness of our connections to each other as fellow human beings, and to the creatures of the natural world. Christ and the Logos contain both masculine and feminine in balance; at this critical time, our well-being and that of our fellow creatures is dependent on this realization. ,

Download or read book The Tree of Life written by Chayyim Vital and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-01 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Tree of Life is a collection of writings by Chayyim Vital. In these writings, Vital describes the teachings of his master, Isaac Luria, who is one of the most important figures within modern Kabbalah. Much of the Kabbalah today is based on the teachings of Luria. However, Luria wrote very little during his life. Consequently, Vital is considered to be the primary source and chief interpreter of the teachings of Luria. The Tree of Life is considered to be the most authoritative version of Luria's teachings. The Palace of Adam Kadmon is the first volume of the Tree of Life. In it, Vital describes the creation of the universe. Vital first describes the creation in general and then proceeds to describe it in great detail. The Palace of Adam Kadmon provides a basis for understanding the entire Lurianic system. This new translation of the Palace of Adam Kadmon provides new insights into the Kabbalah that have never before been published.

Book Synopsis Window of the Soul by : James David Dunn
Download or read book Window of the Soul written by James David Dunn and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2022-09-26 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Some four hundred years before Albert Einstein proposed his theory of relativity of the outer universe to the scientific community, a rabbi named Isaac Luria (1534–1572) passed his theory of the inner universe and its evolution to his students. With vision given only to the most gifted of kabbalistic mystics, Luria explained the inner worlds of the spirit and of the evolution that led to the ultimate birth of our cosmos. In a selection of passages from Luria’s Kabbalah that is both universal and stand-alone in transcendental value, Professor James Dunn presents, for the very first time, the essence of the great rabbi’s teachings. According to Luria, the ultimate calling in this lifetime or in future lifetimes is to reharmonize (and hence remove) inherent imperfections through proper heart, and the teachings presented here have just this aim: to help “heal the broken vessel of the world” (tikkun olam). We all long to be healed and whole, and here scholars and lay people alike will find the wisdom they seek.

Book excerpt: Etz Chaim—the Tree of Life The Torah, the Bible, the Tree of Life—God’s Word is a set of instructions for everyone who wants to live a victorious, joyful, and abundant life. Etz Chaim explains a parable relating to the Tree of Life that the Lord spoke to the author—a Messianic Rabbi. The parable opens wide the unique components of the Word and the physical Tree of Life that is introduced in Genesis and again in Revelation. The LORD God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground—trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life… (Genesis 2:9). Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God (Revelation 2:7). The parable reveals seven aspects of the Tree of Life: The ground. The seed. The roots. The trunk. The branches. The leaves. The fruit. Each of these components brings seven life-changing conclusions to light that stimulate spiritual growth and maturity. The simple yet profound image is powerful and compels you to into self-examination to assure your spiritual health and growth in each of the areas God wanted the author to share with you.

Book Synopsis Moses Cordovero's Introduction to Kabbalah by : Moses ben Jacob Cordovero
Download or read book Moses Cordovero's Introduction to Kabbalah written by Moses ben Jacob Cordovero and published by KTAV Publishing House, Inc.. This book was released on 1994 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1587, Moses Cordovero's now classic introduction to Kabbalah, Or Ne'erav, was intended to serve several purposes; it was meant both to provide a justification for the study of Kabbalah and to encourage that study by providing detailed instructions for interested laymen on how to go about that study; indeed, it was intended as a precis of Cordovero's much larger Pardes Rimmonim. In many ways, Cordovero was ideally suited to compose such a work. His teacher of rabbinics was no other than R. Joseph Caro, author of the Shulhan Arukh, which rapidly became the halakhic code par excellence. His master in Kabbalah was Solomon ha-Levi Alkabetz, whose sister he subsequently married. The result of his studies with both was no less than a kabbalistic "code", a systematic kabbalistic theology of the Zohar, the basic text of Jewish mysticism. But this work was too large, and too complex to be easily mastered. Moreover, it assumed too much previous knowledge to serve as an introduction to the subject; hence the need for Or Ne'erav. Or Ne'erav succeeded in fulfilling all these purposes, and has remained a classic introduction to the study of Kabbalah - and is used as such to this day. Dr. Robinson's accurate but readable translation is the first English rendition of this essential work. -- Back cover.
