Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NOTRE ETUDE PORTE SUR LES RELATIONS SYNTAXIQUES ET TRANSFORMATIONNELLES ENTRE LES CONSTRUCTIONS ADJECTIVALES ET VERBALES DANS LE CADRE D'UNE APPROCHE SYNTAXIQUE. LA QUESTION QUE L'ON SE POSE EST DE SAVOIR SI LA STRUCTURE ET LES PROPRIETES DE L'ADJECTIF PEUVENT SE DEDUIRE DE CELLES DU VERBE CORRESPONDANT. NOUS AVONS ORGANISE NOTRE ETUDE EN SIX CHAPITRES. DANS LE PREMIER CHAPITRE, NOUS AVONS FAIT UNE PRESENTATION GENERALE DE NOTRE PROBLEMATIQUE : CARACTERISATION DES EMPLOIS ADJECTIVAUX RETENUS, REMARQUES SUR LA CONSTITUTION DU LEXIQUE DES ADJECTIFS DEVERBAUX. NOUS AVONS EXAMINE, DANS LE CHAPITRE 2, LES PROPRIETES SYNTAXIQUES DES ADJECTIFS: LA COMPLEMENTATION, LES PROPRIETES DISTRIBUTIONNELLES ET TRANSFORMATIONNELLES. LE CHAPITRE 3 PORTE SUR LES RELATIONS SYNTAXIQUES ET TRANSFORMATIONNELLES ENTRE LES CONSTRUCTIONS VERBALES ET ADJECTIVALES ET SUR LA PRODUCTIVITE ET LA REGULARITE DE CERTAINES CLASSES SYNTAXIQUES DE VERBES. LES DISSYMETRIES SYNTAXIQUES, SEMANTIQUES ET LES CAS PARTICULIERS DE MISE EN RELATION SONT ETUDIES DANS LE CHAPITRE 4. LE PASSAGE D'UNE CONSTRUCTION A L'AUTRE ENTRAINE DES VARIATIONS STRUCTURELLES, DISTRIBUTIONNELLES ET TRANSFORMATIONNELLES, UNE DESCRIPTION EXHAUSTIVE DES PROPRIETES SYNTAXIQUES DE CES ADJECTIFS ETAIT DONC INDISPENSABLE. DANS LES DEUX DERNIERS CHAPITRES, NOUS NOUS SOMMES INTERESSEE AUX CONSTRUCTIONS ADJECTIVALES COMPORTANT UN NOM APPROPRIE (LA SILHOUETTE DE LINE EST ELENCEE): LE CHAPITRE 5 PORTE PLUS SPECIFIQUEMENT SUR LA CARACTERISATION SEMANTIQUE ET SYNTAXIQUE DES SUBSTANTIFS CONSIDERES COMME APPROPRIES ALORS QUE LE CHAPITRE 6 EST CONSACRE AUX CONSTRUCTIONS OBTENUES PAR TRANSFORMATION, LES PHRASES NOMINALE (LINE A UNE SILHOUETTE ELANCEE), RESTRUCTUREE (LINE EST ELANCEE DE SILHOUETTE) ET METONYMIQUE (LINE EST ELANCEE).

Book Synopsis Classification Syntaxique des Constructions Adjectivales en Coréen by : Nam Jee-Sun
Download or read book Classification Syntaxique des Constructions Adjectivales en Coréen written by Nam Jee-Sun and published by John Benjamins Publishing. This book was released on 1996-10-18 with total page 580 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this study is the systematic description of a set of data called Adjectives in Korean, which reduces to a minimum theoretical preoccupations and abstract formalisations with no practical applications. The framework of our research is the Lexicon-grammar, whose fundamental idea is that the minimal meaningful unit is the simple sentence and not an isolated word. This work is constituted as follows: given that the corpus extracted from current dictionaries is insufficient for our purpose, we will reconstitute a complete corpus: first, with a formal definition, and then according to some other principles discussed in the first section. With this more complete corpus (5300 items), we will examine in the second section general syntactic properties of adjectival constructions. The third section is devoted to the description of 15 classes of adjectival structures. These syntactic classes will be represented in the form of tables in the annex. The results obtained in this work are indispensable at least for the following activities: first, the elaboration or verification of a linguistic theory demands a priori examination and systematic description of empirical data; furthermore, a syntactic description of lexical data, which is as exhaustive as possible, has a particular interest in the perspective of the elaboration of a lexicon suitable for computer processing of natural language.L’objectif de cette étude est la description systématique d’un ensemble de données dit Adjectifs en coréen, en réduisant au minimum les préoccupations théoriques et les formalisations abstraites et éloignées des faits.
Book Synopsis Foundations of French Syntax by : Michael Allan Jones
Download or read book Foundations of French Syntax written by Michael Allan Jones and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1996-09-12 with total page 588 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Designed for students, this detailed analysis of the principal areas of French grammar combines the insights of modern linguistic theory with those of more traditional grammarians. Theory is placed firmly in the service of description and analysis, and students are guided to an understanding of the French language which will complement the information offered by traditional reference grammars. The book includes discussion of verbs and verb phrases, voice, tense and mood, the noun phrase and pronouns, prepositions and variations in sentence-structure. The author pays special attention to those areas of French grammar which pose difficulties for an English-speaking reader. Each chapter is followed by a set of problems and exercises, and by a useful guide to further reading. Foundations of French Syntax assumes no prior knowledge of linguistics, and will appeal to students and teachers of linguistics, French and other Romance languages.
Book Synopsis The Phrase Phonology of English and French by : Elisabeth O. Selkirk
Download or read book The Phrase Phonology of English and French written by Elisabeth O. Selkirk and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-07-03 with total page 251 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work, first published in 1980, was a doctoral dissertation submitted to the Department of Foreign Literatures and Linguistics of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1972. This study concerns certain aspects of the relationship between syntax and phonology in English and French. In particular, it represents an investigation of the universal conventions and language-particular readjustment rules which create the proper surface structure input to the phonological rules operating beyond the level of the word in French and English, and it offers a description of those phonological rules. This title will be of interest to students of language and linguistics.

Book Synopsis Lexique, Syntaxe et Lexique-Grammaire / Syntax, Lexis & Lexicon-Grammar by : Christian Leclère
Download or read book Lexique, Syntaxe et Lexique-Grammaire / Syntax, Lexis & Lexicon-Grammar written by Christian Leclère and published by John Benjamins Publishing. This book was released on 2004-07-29 with total page 683 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Maurice Gross, who died in December 2001, was a pioneer and leading thinker in the field of modern linguistics. Long before computers could facilitate large-scale, lexically-based language study, he and his team began building an exhaustive, empirically-based inventory of the "lexicon-grammar" of French which, thirty years later, still remains the most complete syntax-based lexicon available. Researchers all over the world have adopted the Gross model of description, which serves as a computational model for any language. As can be seen in the contributions in this volume, it has been applied to languages as different as Arabic, Chinese, English, Greek or Korean (as well as the major Romance languages, of course). In this volume the reader will also find a number of articles by eminent linguists who were close friends of Maurice Gross, and frequently in dialogue with him on linguistic issues. No matter whether they shared his theoretical views, or his particular empirical methods of description, they each had great respect for his work, especially for the close-grained linguistic analysis which has set a benchmark for future generations.
