Book Synopsis Etude d'un écoulement d'eau sur un coursier en marches d'escalier by : Khadidja Kherbache
Download or read book Etude d'un écoulement d'eau sur un coursier en marches d'escalier written by Khadidja Kherbache and published by Editions Universitaires Europeennes. This book was released on 2015-04-09 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Hydraulic Design of Stepped Cascades, Channels, Weirs, and Spillways by : Hubert Chanson
Download or read book Hydraulic Design of Stepped Cascades, Channels, Weirs, and Spillways written by Hubert Chanson and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stepped channels and spillways have been used for more than 2,500 years but recently new construction materials have renewed interest in stepped chutes. The steps significantly increase the rate of energy dissipation taking place on the spillway face and reduce the size of the required downstream energy dissipation basin. Stepped cascades are also used in water treatment plants to enhance the air-water transfer of atmospheric gases and of volatile organic components. This book presents new material on the hydraulic characteristics of stepped chute flows. Two different flow regimes can occur: nappe flow regime for small discharges and flat channel slopes; and skimming flow regime - the hydraulics of each flow regime are described. The book also covers the effects of flow aeration and air bubble entrainment as well as the process of air-water gas transfer taking place above the stepped chute. Practical examples of hydraulic design and a critical review of the risks of accidents and failures with stepped channels makes this book an essential reference tool for professional engineers, postgraduates and researchers in the field.

Book Synopsis Architectural Heritage in the Western Azerbaijan Province of Iran by : Maurizio Boriani
Download or read book Architectural Heritage in the Western Azerbaijan Province of Iran written by Maurizio Boriani and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-01-04 with total page 567 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book represents a reflection on the policies of preservation that were established and interventions for restoration that occurred in Iran before and in the years after the Khomeinist Revolution, as well as being an analysis of the impact that Italian restoration culture has had in the country. Research concerning the state of conservation and the ongoing restoration of the Armenian churches in the Khoy and Salmas areas is included, along with precise documentation of the observation of the two cities, their architecture and the context of their landscape. The problems of architectural restoration in present-day Iran and the compatible use of buildings no longer intended for worship are addressed. The book is bolstered by first-hand documentation obtained through inspections and interviews with Iranian specialists during three missions carried out between 2016 and 2018 and a large anthology of period texts that have only recently been made available for the first time for study in electronic form, including travel reports written by Westerners describing Persia between the 15th and 19th centuries.

Book Synopsis A Jamaican Plantation by : Michael Craton
Download or read book A Jamaican Plantation written by Michael Craton and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 1970-01-01 with total page 480 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Worthy Park has archives covering much of its three-hundred year history. Using these records, the authors have written the first complete history of a West Indian sugar estate. However, this is not just the story of a single Jamaican plantation and its people over three hundred years; the study reveals, in microcosm, the social and economic development of the area.

Book Synopsis Hydraulics of Stepped Chutes and Spillways by : Hubert Chanson
Download or read book Hydraulics of Stepped Chutes and Spillways written by Hubert Chanson and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2002-01-01 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stepped channel design has been in use for more than 3,500 years. Recent advances in technology have triggered a regained interest in stepped design, although much expertise has been lost in the last 80 years. The steps significantly increase the rate of energy dissipation taking place along the chute and reduce the size of the required downstream energy dissipation basin. Stepped cascades are also used in water treatment plants to enhance the air-water transfer of atmospheric gases (e.g. oxygen, nitrogen) and of volatile organic components (VOC). Results from more than forty-five laboratory studies and four prototype investigations were re-analysed and compared. The book provides a new understanding of stepped channel hydraulics, and is aimed both at researchers and professionals.
