This book was released on 2013 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Download or read book Identité lexicale et régulation de la variation sémantique written by Evelyne Saunier and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE AIM OF THIS STUDY IS TO SHOW THAT EVEN WHEN A VERB IS STRONGLY POLYSEMIC, IT HAS CERTAIN PROPERTIES THAT RECUR IN ALL ITS USES AND ESPECIALLY IN IDIOMATIC EXPRESSIONS. THESE PROPERTIES GIVE RISE TO INTERPRETATIVE EFFECTS, CONSTRAINTS ON ARGUMENT SELECTION AND SYNTACTIC BEHAVIOUR THAT ARE AMENABLE TO EXPLANATION. THE THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK ADOPTED IS THAT OF ANTOINE CULIOLI AND IN PARTICULAR LOCATION THEORY. EACH VERB IS FIRST DESCRIBED INDIVIDUALLY FROM A DIFFERENT ANGLE AS ILLUSTRATED IN THE CHAPTER TITLES : DEFENCE AND ILLUSTRATION OF THE "CONSISTENCY" OF METTRE; UNITY AND POLYSEMY OF PRENDRE; PASSER AND WEAK ALTERITY; WHAT'S LEFT OF TENIR IN TIENS| THEY ARE THEN COMPARED IN TWO TYPES OF USES : PASSER PRENDRE TENIR (QUELQU'UN) POUR UN IMBECILE, AND PASSER PRENDRE METTRE DU TEMPS A POUR FAIRE QUELQUE CHOSE. FINALLY A SEMANTIC ANALYSIS OF SOCIO-STYLISTIC VARIATION IS SUGGESTED, BASED ON REFLEXIONS ON USES SUCH AS : METTRE UNE GIFLE A QUELQU'UN, PRENDRE UN CAILLOU DANS LA FIGURE, TENIR UNE BONNE CREVE, PASSER (VS DONNER PRETER) QUELQUE CHOSE A QUELQU'UN.

Download or read book De l'identité de la préposition en written by Ichraf Khammari and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 1374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Analyse sémantique des verbes français written by Edwige Deboës and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Divine Names on the Spot by : Fabio Porzia
Download or read book Divine Names on the Spot written by Fabio Porzia and published by . This book was released on 2023 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Ancient Greek and Semitic languages resorted to a large range of words to name the divine. Gods and goddesses were called by a variety of names and combinations of onomastic attributes. This broad lexicon of names is characterised by plurality and a tendency to build on different sequences of names; therefore, the Mapping Ancient Polytheisms project focuses on the process of naming the divine in order to better understand the ancient divine in terms of a plurality in the making. A fundamental rule for reading ancient divine names is to grasp them in their context - time and place, a ritual, the form of the discourse, a cultural milieu...: a deity is usually named according to a specific situation. From Artemis Eulochia to al-Lat, al-'Uzza and Manat, from Melqart to "my rock" in the biblical book of Psalms, this volume journeys between the sanctuary on Mount Gerizim and late antique magical practices, revisiting rituals, hymnic poetry, oaths of orators and philosophical prayers. While targeting different names in different contexts, the contributors draft theoretical propositions towards a dynamic approach of naming the divine in antiquity.'
Book Synopsis The Planetarium by : Nathalie Sarraute
Download or read book The Planetarium written by Nathalie Sarraute and published by Deep Vellum Publishing. This book was released on 2023-01-31 with total page 203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A young writer has his heart set on his aunt's large apartment. With this seemingly simple conceit, the characters of The Planetarium are set in orbit and a galaxy of argument, resentment, and bitterness erupts. Telling the story from various points of view, Sarraute focuses below the surface, on the emotional lives of the characters in a way that surpasses even Virginia Woolf. Always deeply engaging, The Planetarium reveals the deep disparity between the way we see ourselves and the way others see us.
Book Synopsis Handbook of French Semantics by : Francis Corblin
Download or read book Handbook of French Semantics written by Francis Corblin and published by Stanford Univ Center for the Study. This book was released on 2004 with total page 592 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the semantic particularities of the French language, covering five empirical themes: determiners, adverbs, tense and aspect, negation, and information structure. The specialists contributing here—including general linguists in France and French linguists in the Netherlands—take formal approaches to semantics and its interface with syntax and pragmatics, highlighting meaning in its relation to both structure and use. Their results should be of particular interest to French and Romance linguists who want to study French from a formal semantic perspective and to general linguists who are interested in cross-linguistic semantics.

Book Synopsis Advanced French Grammar by : Monique L'Huillier
Download or read book Advanced French Grammar written by Monique L'Huillier and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1999-06-17 with total page 722 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This 1999 reference grammar, written for advanced students of French, their teachers, and others who want a better understanding of the French language, combines the best of modern and traditional approaches. Its objective is not only practical mastery of the language, but familiarity with its structure. Taking into account modern linguistic research, Advanced French Grammar approaches the French language primarily through the study of syntactic structures, but without excessive emphasis on formalism. It provides a generous number of examples, based on the author's own experience of teaching French to English-speakers, to help the student to understand the different meanings of apparently similar syntactic alternatives. The norms of 'correct expression' are given together with current usage and deviations, and appendixes provide information on the 1990 spelling reforms and on numbers. A substantial index of French and English words and of topics provides easy access to the text itself.

Book Synopsis The Romance Languages by : Rebecca Posner
Download or read book The Romance Languages written by Rebecca Posner and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1996-09-05 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is a Romance language? How is one Romance language related to others? How did they all evolve? And what can they tell us about language in general? In this comprehensive survey Rebecca Posner, a distinguished Romance specialist, examines this group of languages from a wide variety of perspectives. Her analysis combines philological expertise with insights drawn from modern theoretical linguistics, both synchronic and diachronic. She relates linguistic features to historical and sociological factors, and teases out those elements which can be attributed to divergence from a common source and those which indicate convergence towards a common aim. Her discussion is extensively illustrated with new and original data, and an up-to-date and comprehensive bibliography is included. This volume will be an invaluable and authoritative guide for students and specialists alike.
