This book was released on 1993 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: LE DOMAINE DES MESURES DE RAYONNEMENT OPTIQUE CONNAIT ACTUELLEMENT UNE EVOLUTION IMPORTANTE, MARQUEE PRINCIPALEMENT PAR UNE DEMANDE DE MESURES MONOCHROMATIQUES A HAUT NIVEAU DE PUISSANCE, AVEC UNE INCERTITUDE DE PLUS EN PLUS FAIBLE. LES DIODES LASERS, QUI EMETTENT UN RAYONNEMENT MONOCHROMATIQUE INTENSE DANS LE ROUGE ET LE PROCHE INFRA-ROUGE, SE PRESENTENT COMME DE NOUVELLES SOURCES INTERESSANTES POUR LA MISE EN UVRE DE DIVERSES MESURES RADIOMETRIQUES EN BANDE TRES ETROITE. LEUR UTILISATION NECESSITE NEANMOINS QUE LEUR STABILITE EN PUISSANCE SOIT ACCEPTABLE SUR DES DUREES SUFFISANTES POUR EFFECTUER DES MESURES PRECISES, QUE LEUR SPECTRE D'EMISSION SOIT PARFAITEMENT CONNU, ET QUE LA GEOMETRIE DE LEUR FAISCEAU SOIT COMPATIBLE AVEC LES BESOINS DE LA RADIOMETRIE. CES TROIS CRITERES ONT CONDUIT AU DEVELOPPEMENT DE DIFFERENTS SYSTEMES DE CARACTERISATION DU RAYONNEMENT EMIS PAR LES DIODES LASERS, POUR DETERMINER LEURS PERFORMANCES ET DEFINIR LEURS APTITUDES POUR DES APPLICATIONS METROLOGIQUES. AINSI, EN CHOISISSANT SOIGNEUSEMENT LEURS CONDITIONS DE FONCTIONNEMENT, LES DIODES LASERS PRESENTENT DES CARACTERISTIQUES DE MONOCHROMATICITE ET DE STABILITE EN PUISSANCE TOUT A FAIT SATISFAISANTES POUR DES USAGES RADIOMETRIQUES. PAR CONTRE, LA GEOMETRIE PARTICULIERE DU FAISCEAU N'ETANT PAS DIRECTEMENT UTILISABLE, DEUX METHODES D'ADAPTATION ONT ETE ENVISAGEES. L'UNE PERMET D'OBTENIR DES SOURCES LASERS COLLIMATEES TRES MONOCHROMATIQUES POUR L'ETUDE ET L'ETALONNAGE DES DETECTEURS DE RAYONNEMENT OPTIQUE. L'AUTRE ASSOCIE UNE DIODE LASER A UNE SPHERE INTEGRATRICE POUR OBTENIR UNE SOURCE LAMBERTIENNE UTILISABLE EN TANT QU'ETALON DE LUMINANCE MONOCHROMATIQUE

Book excerpt: This book gives a comprehensive view of the most recent major international research in the field of tolerancing, and is an excellent resource for anyone interested in Computer Aided Tolerating. It is organized into 4 parts. Part 1 focuses on the more general problems of tolerance analysis and synthesis, for tolerancing in mechanical design and manufacturing processes. Part 2 specifically highlights the simulation of assembly with defects, and the influence of tolerances on the quality of the assembly. Part 3 deals with measurement aspects, and quality control throughout the life cycle. Different measurement technologies and methods for estimating uncertainty are considered. In Part 4, different aspects of tolerancing and their interactions are explored, from the definition of functional requirement to measurement processes in a PLM approach.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These proceedings are based upon introductory talks, research reports and discussions from the NATO Advanced Workshop on the "Morphology and Dynamics of the Polar Cusp", held at Lillehammer, Norway, 7-12 May, 1984. The upper atmosphere at high latitudes is called the "Earth's win dow to outer space". Through various electrodynamic coupling process es as well as through direct transfer of particles many geophysical effects displayed there are direct manifestations of phenomena occurring in the deep space. The high latitude ionosphere will also exert a feedback on the regions of the magnetosphere and atmosphere to which it is coupled, acting as a momentum and energy source and sink, and a source of particles. Of particular interest are the sections of the near space known as the Polar Cusp. A vast portion of the earth's magnetic field envelope is electrically connected to these regions. This geometry results in a spatial mapping of the magnetospheric pro cesses and a focusing on to the ionosphere. In the Polar Cusps the solar wind plasma has also direct access to the upper atmosphere. The polar regions are thus of extreme importance when it comes to under standing the physical processes in the near space and their effect on our environment. The Introductory Talks given at this workshop provided a common background for discussing and understanding the physics of the Polar Cusp. By this book we will make the information which thus was provid ed to the participants of the workshop accessible to a wider audience.

Book excerpt: The book summarizes the findings and contributions of the European ARTEMIS project, CESAR, for improving and enabling interoperability of methods, tools, and processes to meet the demands in embedded systems development across four domains - avionics, automotive, automation, and rail. The contributions give insight to an improved engineering and safety process life-cycle for the development of safety critical systems. They present new concept of engineering tools integration platform to improve the development of safety critical embedded systems and illustrate capacity of this framework for end-user instantiation to specific domain needs and processes. They also advance state-of-the-art in component-based development as well as component and system validation and verification, with tool support. And finally they describe industry relevant evaluated processes and methods especially designed for the embedded systems sector as well as easy adoptable common interoperability principles for software tool integration.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Of all measurement units, frequency is the one that may be determined with the highest degree of accuracy. It equally allows precise measurements of other physical and technical quantities, whenever they can be measured in terms of frequency. This volume covers the central methods and techniques relevant for frequency standards developed in physics, electronics, quantum electronics, and statistics. After a review of the basic principles, the book looks at the realisation of commonly used components. It then continues with the description and characterisation of important frequency standards from atomic clocks, to frequency stabilised lasers. The whole is rounded of with a discussion of topical applications in engineering, telecommunications, and metrology.

These wireless links are frequently associated with a location capability for which ultimate accuracy varies with the inverse of the frequency bandwidth. Using time or frequency domain waveforms, they are currently the subject of international standards facilitating their commercial implementation. Drawing up a complete state of the art, Ultra Wide Band Antennas is aimed at students, engineers and researchers and presents a summary of internationally recognized studies.
