Book Synopsis Frothing in Flotation II by : Janusz Laskowski
Download or read book Frothing in Flotation II written by Janusz Laskowski and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1998-10-21 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dr. J. S. Laskowski has written several papers on frother-collector interactions and the effect of such interactions on flotation kinetics, and on frothers chemistry and frothing. He is founder and Editor-in-Chief of the journal, Coal Preparation. Dr. E. T. Woodburn has published numerous papers on flotation froth and flotation kinetics. Frothing in Flotation, published in honor of Jan Leja, appeared in 1989. Many important contributions on various aspects of flotation froth properties and behavior and the relationship between froth appearance and flotation performance have appeared since, and this volume intends to summarize these achievements. Flotation kinetics involves a number of mass transfer processes with some of them being critically determined by the behavior of froth. Since froth is complex, and controlled experimentation is difficult, the froth phase was, until recently, either ignored or treated entirely empirically. With wide applications of flotation columns, the behavior of the froth is now often recognized as being dominant in determining flotation performance, and the research in this area is one of the most actively pursued.

Book Synopsis Surface Chemistry of Froth Flotation by : Jan Leja
Download or read book Surface Chemistry of Froth Flotation written by Jan Leja and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 772 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The process of froth flotation is an outstanding example of applied surface chemistry. It is extensively used in the mining, mineral, metallurgical, and chemical industries for separation and selective concentration of individual minerals and other solids. Substances so concentrated serve as raw materials for producing appropriate metals and chemicals. The importance of flotation in technology is chiefly due to the ease with which it can be made selective and versatile and to the economy of the process. The objective of this book is to review the fundamentals of surface chemistry together with the relevant aspects of organic and inorganic chemistry that-in the opinion of the author-are important ~ control of the froth flotation process. The review updates the information that had been available in books by Sutherland and Wark (1955), Gaudin (1957), Klassen and Mokrousov (1963), and GIembotsky et al. (1963). It emphasizes mainly the surface chemical aspects of the process, leaving other relevant topics such as hydrodynamics, mechanical and electrical technology, cir cuit design and engineering, operations research, instrumentation tech nology, modeling, etc., to appropriate specialized treatments.
Book Synopsis Surface Chemistry of Froth Flotation by : S. Ramachandra Rao
Download or read book Surface Chemistry of Froth Flotation written by S. Ramachandra Rao and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 793 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: th The technology of froth flotation, invented in the early 20 century was first used for the concentration of sulfide minerals. Since then it has been applied for the processing of many nonsulfide ores as weIl, including oxides, carbonates, silicates, soluble minerals like halite and sylvite and energy minerals like coal and bitumen. In recent years it has been used for several nonrnineral applications, such as waste water treatment, deinking of paper for recycling and resource recovery from industrial wastes he technology continues to grow with new applications reported every year. Flotation is based on chemical phenomena occurring at the interfaces, solid/water and air/water. Surface Chemistry principles have played a significant role in the development of flotation technology. Knowledge of aqueous solution chemistry and electrochemistry has added to our understanding of the reactions in flotation systems. Professor Jan Leja's book has weIl served researchers and students as they tried to understand the chemistry of flotation, and it is a significant contribution to the advancement of knowledge. However, since the book was first published, new research techniques and ever growing information have made an update necessary. The revised edition compiled by Dr. S. R. Rao has brought together fundamental aspects of the chemistry of flotation and how they apply to practical systems. It should serve all who are working in the area of flotation and interested in exploring new applications of flotation technology.

Download or read book Surface Active Ethylene Oxide Adducts written by N. Schönfeldt and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-09-17 with total page 969 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Surface Active Ethylene Oxide Adducts covers the fundamental problems associated with the surface active ethylene oxide adduct. This book contains six chapters that consider the progress on modifications of ethylene oxide adducts. The opening chapters examine the preparation and industrial application of ethylene oxide adducts. These chapters provide a formulation based on the starting materials and divides the ethylene oxide adducts in different classes according to the bond between the hydrophobic and the hydrophilic part of the molecule. The next chapters describe the physical, chemical, and functional properties of these adducts. These chapters also look into the biodegradability and industrial uses of ethoxylated products, with an emphasis on their applications to the mineral oil industry. These topics are followed by discussions of the chemical modifications of ethylene oxide adducts, including etherification of the terminal hydroxyl group with aliphatic or cyclic, hydrophobic radicals and carboxymethylation of adducts. The final chapter focuses on the analytical methods used in the industrial control laboratory an in product analysis. This book is intended primarily for laboratory chemists, plant chemists, and chemical engineers.

Book Synopsis Microbes for Sustainable Development and Bioremediation by : Ram Chandra
Download or read book Microbes for Sustainable Development and Bioremediation written by Ram Chandra and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-12-13 with total page 535 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Microbes are the predominant form of life on the planet due to their broad range of adaptation and versatile nutritional behavior. The ability of some microbes to inhabit hostile environment incompatible with most forms of life means that their habitat defines the extent of the biosphere and delineates the barrier between the biosphere and geosphere. The direct and indirect role of microbes that include bacteria, fungi, actinomycetes, viruses, mycoplasma, and protozoans are very much important in development of modern human society for food, drugs, textiles, agriculture, and environment. Furthermore, microorganisms and their enzyme system are responsible for the degradation of various organic matters. Microbes for Sustainable Development and Bioremediation emphasizes the role of microbes for sustainable development of ecosystem. Environmental microbiology role in biogeochemical cycle and bioremediation of environmental waste is major theme, which comprises the following aspects: Bacterial phytoextraction mechanism of heavy metals by native hyperaccumulator plants from complex waste-contaminated site for eco-restoration Role of microbial enzyme for eco-friendly recycling of industrial waste Field-scale remediation of crude oil–contaminated desert soil and treatment technology Microbial technology for metal recovery from e-waste printed circuit board Impact of genomic data on sustainability of ecosystem Methane monooxygenases: their regulations and applications Role of microbes in environmental sustainability and food preservation This book will be directly beneficial to researchers and classroom students, in areas of biotechnology, environmental microbiology, molecular biology, and environmental engineering with specialized collection of cutting-edge knowledge.
