As a result, you’ll encounter the Living God in a new way. I created this Prayer Journal with very simplistic journaling and meditation in mind. We don’t always have the energy to dive deep into a theological study of God’s names or other biblical studies. But we do have the energy for a simplistic style journaling and meditation. While coloring, we ask 4 simple questions: What His names means to you? What situation do you need Him to show up?How has He shown up in the past?Pray asking God to reveal something new about this name. Then you’ll have a chance to journal those thoughts. Whether you need: Love,Wisdom,Comfort,Peace,A friend,Provision,Healing, … or anything else, you will find a Name that meets that need. You will experience the richest intimate relationship with God than you ever experienced. On page 22, you’ll be introduced to God the Advocate. You’ll be asked 4 simple questions: What does God as the Advocate mean to you? In what situation do you need the Advocate to intervene? What has the Advocate done for you in your past? Pray and ask God to reveal something new. On page 56, you’ll be introduced to God of All Hope. As you read the scripture and meditate on His name, you’ll be asked to journal a few questions: What does God of All Hope mean to you? What situation do you need the God of All Hope? What has the God of All Hope done for you in the past? Pray and ask God to reveal something new about His Name. On page 70, you’ll be introduced to God of Recompense. What has the God of Recompense done for you in the past? Pray and ask God to reveal something new about His Name. On page 16, you’ll be introduced to the Arm of the Lord. As you’re meditating and coloring you’ll be asked to journal a few thoughts: What does Arm of the Lord mean to you? In what situation do you need the Arm of the Lord today? What has the Arm of the Lord done for you in the past? Pray and ask God to reveal something new about His Name. On Page 64, you’ll be introduced to God of My Life. Book Synopsis Multicultural and Ethnic Children’s Literature in the United States by : Donna L. Gilton
Download or read book Multicultural and Ethnic Children’s Literature in the United States written by Donna L. Gilton and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2020-02-18 with total page 435 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edition of Multicultural and Ethnic Children’s Literature in the United States addresses both quantitative and more qualitative changes in this field over the last decade. Quantitative changes include more authors, books, and publishers; book review sources, booklists, and awards; organizations, institutions, and websites; and criticism and other scholarship. Qualitative changes include: More support for new and emerging writers and illustrators; Promotion of multicultural literature both in the U.S. and around the world, as well as developments in global literature; Developments in the literatures described throughout this book, as well as in research supporting this literature; The impact of technology; Characteristics and activities of four adult audiences that use and promote multicultural children’s literature, and Changes in leaders and their organizations. This is still a single reference source for busy and involved librarians, teachers, parents, scholars, publishers, distributors, and community leaders. Most books on multicultural children’s literature are written especially for teachers, librarians, and scholars. They may be introductions to the literature, selection tools, teaching guides, or very theoretical books on choosing, evaluating, and using these materials. Multicultural and Ethnic Children’s Literature in the United States focuses much more on the history of the development of this literature, from the nineteenth century to the present day. This book provides much more of a cultural and political context for the early development of this literature. It emphasizes the “self-determining” viewpoints and activities of diverse people as they produce materials for the young. Multicultural and Ethnic Children’s Literature… describes organizations, events, activities, and other contributions of diverse writers, illustrators, publishers, researchers, scholars, librarians, educators, and parents. It also describes trends in the research on the literature. It elaborates more on ways in which diversity is still an issue in publishing companies and an extended list of related industries. It describes related literature from outside of the U.S. and makes connections to traditional global literature. Last, Multicultural and Ethnic Children’s Literature, shows the impact of multiculturalism on education, libraries, and the mainstream culture, in general. While the other books on multiculturalism focus on how to find, evaluate, and use multicultural materials, especially in schools and libraries, this book is concerned over whether and how books are produced in the first place and how this material impact the broader society. In many ways, it supplements other books on multicultural children’s literature.
Book Synopsis Developing Library Collections for Today's Young Adults by : Amy S. Pattee
Download or read book Developing Library Collections for Today's Young Adults written by Amy S. Pattee and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2020-02-14 with total page 403 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the five years since the first edition of Developing Library Collections for Today’s Young Adults was published, numerous changes have taken place in the landscape of young adult literature and young adult library services. Informed by the professional activism—including the “We Need Diverse Books” (#wndb) movement—today’s professionals recognize that library collections for young adults are incomplete if they fail to address and reflect a diversity of racial, ethnic, and cultural identities; gender identities; sexual orientations; and identities related to ability and disability. Contemporary librarians working to diversify their collections select material in a number of formats and must consider the accessibility of both old and new media as they select titles and resources. Developing Library Collections for Today’s Young Adults, Ensuring Inclusion and Access, Second Edition, offers guidance to librarians confronted with an expanding universe of published material from which to select. With special emphasis on the principles of inclusion and accessibility, this new edition of Developing Library Collections includes guidelines for creating a young adult collection development policy, conducting a needs assessment, and evaluating and selecting print and nonprint material for the library’s YA collection.

Book Synopsis The Color of Culture by : Daniel H. Krymkowski
Download or read book The Color of Culture written by Daniel H. Krymkowski and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2021-01-15 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Utilizing written sources as well as nationally representative survey data, Daniel H. Krymkowski analyzes the extent and causes of African American underrepresentation in the cultural realms of golf, hiking, hunting and fishing, water sports, winter sports, classical music, painting and sculpture, ballet, and the theater. African American participation significantly lags behind that of non-Hispanic whites in all of these areas, and it is not due to an aversion to these types of activities. Rather, as Krymkowski shows, its primary sources are racial-ethnic socioeconomic differences, as well as historic and contemporary discrimination, both overt and subtle. These causes are rooted in the systemic racism that continues to plague the United States. The lack of opportunity to participate in such cultural forms deprives African Americans of aesthetic experiences that are central to the human condition, and it has implications for both health and the accumulation of cultural and social capital. Krymkowski also explores current efforts to increase African American representation in these areas of culture and discusses the benefits of doing so.
