A tarefa de ensinar e de aprender, não para, pelo contrário continua vencendo as intempéries e obstáculos e apresentando seta no caminho e estabelecendo estratégias para a construção de habilidades e preparo para o exercício da cidadania. O ensino de matemática tem cada vez mais evidenciado práticas motoras de valores, saberes e fazeres de extrema significação para os grupos humanos. A matemática faz parte de um processo cujas as intenções pedagógicas é de preparar para a vida dentro das qualificações necessárias para o trabalho e para a promoção social do ser humano. Esta ideia, que inclusive está preconizada no artigo 2º da Lei 9394/96, contribui para o entendimento de que o ensino, seja na matemática ou em quaisquer disciplinas, deve, pois, formar cidadãos críticos e atuantes na sociedade. Fica evidente o desafio que temos como professor de construir um espaço de diálogo cujo o objetivo seja atingir a qualidade social na formação sistemática do indivíduo. A prática docente, principal responsável pelo processo de apropriação dos conhecimentos acumulados social e culturalmente, é quase sempre conhecida apenas pelos seus sujeitos. A compreensão que temos é de que educação tem a tarefa desafiadora de atuar na resolução de conflitos e alicerçada em valores éticos, mobilizar o processo de construção participativa na sociedade para manter e/ou transformá-la de forma consciente, crítica, criativa e responsável. Neste contexto, é possível dizer que pensar o ensino de matemática na escola de educação básica tem sido o grande desafio dos professores e professoras que ensinam matemática. A perspectiva, ora vigente na maioria das práticas, não conseguem articular o arcabouço de conhecimentos, recursos e estratégias presentes no contexto sociocultural dos alunos. Historicamente o ensino de matemático se firmou na teoria dos conjuntos, ao passo que se distanciou do terreno das práticas e dos contextos reais. Esta obra, vem de forma muito simples, apresentar uma nova proposição, no caminho de práticas que melhorem o ensino de matemática, principalmente no viés de aplicabilidade de conteúdos dispostos no currículo escolar. Busca-se desta forma novas perspectivas de ensino, que possam romper com a estratégia da memorização, com os currículos enfadonhos de repetição, listas de exercícios e fórmulas vazias. O docente assim como o arquiteto reconhece a distância entre ele e o aluno?, trazendo consigo embasamento cultural, filosófico, estrutural para construir sua aula, analisar seus alunos, a cultura em que vivem pois hoje existe a necessidade dos professores se adatarem com os alunos diante da distância que os separam.
