Download or read book Dibs en busca del sí mismo written by Virginia M. Axline and published by Universitat de València. This book was released on 2014-09-04 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Feeling the Gaze written by Gail Bulman and published by UNC Press Books. This book was released on 2022-08-25 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Feeling the Gaze explores the visual elements in eight contemporary Argentine and Chilean theater performances. Gail A. Bulman shows how staged images can awaken spectators' emotions to activate their intellect, provoking nuanced and deep contemplation of social, historical, and political themes. Ranging from simple props, costumes, body movements and spatial constructions to integrated media and digital images, the aesthetic components in these pieces engage to forge multifaceted storytelling, stimulate the public's relation to memory, and create affective bonds that help build individual and collective social consciousness. Recent innovations in Southern Cone theatre aesthetics have been shifting traditional performance/spectator relationships and animating ideological discussions. The various works presented here give readers a holistic understanding of the emerging prominence of visuality and affect as a vehicle for political advocacy in Latin American theatre and performance. The book asks us to consider the formation of new spectator-performance bonds as authors, directors, and theatre groups increasingly turn toward alternative settings for their work. Lingering visual memories of the performances, together with the feelings that the performative experience stirs up, provide spectators with an enduring focal point through which to reflect on and judge what is "beyond" the performed scenes. Staged live in the Southern Cone and internationally since 2014, these plays demonstrate the transgressive power of the visual to make spectators see, feel, and potentially act against injustices and violence. This study offers comprehensive critical discussions of Teatro Banda's O'Higgins: un hombre en pedazos; Teatro Nino Proletario's Fulgor; Mario, Luiggi y sus fantasmas's Manual de carrona; Agustin Leon Pruzzo's En la sombra de la cupula; Teatro la Maria's Los millonarios; Claudio Tolcachir's Proximo; Sergio Blanco's Tebas Land; and Lola Arias's Doble de Riesgo.

Book Synopsis Tougher Than Nails by : Amanda Flores
Download or read book Tougher Than Nails written by Amanda Flores and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2018-06-15 with total page 107 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “The next day he came for my children. The time to go had come.... The river was very strong and very cold.... When I heard the sound of the helicopter, my heart pounded....” Choices must be made whether bad or good. I went from hot El Salvador to cold Canada, but my faith kept me cool and kept me warm and safe, just like I kept my family. The Salvadorian civil war didn’t kill me, the Rio Grande didn’t drown me, la migra didn’t catch me, Canadian winters haven’t frozen me. Yet. Many people have had trials and tribulations and chose the wrong attitude to get through them. I did the same until I truly listened to my heart and the voice of God. Using His map, I took my family from the dark into the light. I didn’t know how to swim, speak English, shovel snow, drive, or sometimes feed my family. But I am a survivor, a fierce wife and an even fiercer mother. Some people say I’m tougher than nails. My life shows that determination and faith—and strength—can lead to wonders. I hope my story can inspire people—my children, my grandchildren, everybody.
Book Synopsis Sólo Quien Se Siente Amado Puede Ser Educado by : Juan Bosco Abascal Carranza
Download or read book Sólo Quien Se Siente Amado Puede Ser Educado written by Juan Bosco Abascal Carranza and published by Palibrio. This book was released on 2012-10 with total page 413 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Art of Captivity / Arte del Cautiverio by : Kevin Lewis O'Neill
Download or read book Art of Captivity / Arte del Cautiverio written by Kevin Lewis O'Neill and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 2020-11-03 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Through a series of rich photographs, Art of Captivity / Arte del Cautiverio tells a compelling story about the war on drugs in Central America. Entirely bilingual in both English and Spanish, the book focuses on the country of Guatemala, now the principle point of transit for the cocaine that is produced in the Andes and bound for the United States and Canada. Alongside a spike in the use of crack cocaine, Guatemala City has witnessed the proliferation of Pentecostal drug rehabilitation centers. The centers are sites of abuse and torment, but also lifesaving institutions in a country that does not provide any other viable social service to those struggling with drug dependency. Art of Captivity / Arte del Cautiverio explores these centers as architectural forms, while also showcasing the cultural production that takes place inside them, including drawings and letters created by those held captive. This stunning work of visual ethnography humanizes those held inside these centers, breaks down stereotypes about drug use, and sets the conditions for a hemispheric conversation about prohibitionist practices – by revealing intimate portraits of a population held hostage by a war on drugs.

Download or read book Firmament12 written by King Ram and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2019-02-25 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is named from heavens to earth, written directly from my hands, of course, in the explanation from the beginning how my life has been unfolded and conducted under the hardness of my creator and the discovery at the end of time that Mother Earth is the producer of all that we can observe and that Celestial King is created under this sanctity and is set to govern all that it creates. In this way, Craon God continues to create, and at the same time, Mother Earth also produces. This is that we cannot understand the psychology to which we are placed, but we must understand that we must kneel down to God and to Mother Earth because even God kneels down himself. Celestially, there is this high force that cannot be destroyed, but we must obey him as we are taught by our only begotten God and do not doubt that our forces will not decay in silence but in a force that is not invented. I am declaring it today, and with the presence of my paintings in this second book called Firmament12, I will explain that everything has been studied by me since the beginning of my life, focusing my studies on everything I have been able to observe and posing from time to time to let them know my face. It is something I can leave to be recognized in time, and that my presence is legitimate today and that my offspring is also presented in this book, descendant Maya. Of course, this is the race that God has chosen from the beginning. I know you cannot understand, but I leave you with this thinking with my stay here on Earth. (I am the son of man) from the land of the Holy Spirit. Of course, humanity does not understand why they say that God acts in a mysterious way. It is clear that Mother Earth is in charge of creating everything that pleases her, and she gives them to the only begotten saint to govern it. It’s that in this form they (homosexuals and lesbians) are created under this divine order. For that reason, the Holy begotten King has had to provide a perfect plan so that all the creations are modified with a holy and celestial order, which is his last covenant, and he declares it in Jeremiah 31:33–34. With this perfect plan, it is pleasing to our Mother Earth. Note that the heart has no gender.
