Book Synopsis The Mexican Value-Added Tax (VAT) by : Mr.Parthasarathi Shome
Download or read book The Mexican Value-Added Tax (VAT) written by Mr.Parthasarathi Shome and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 1987-03-01 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The value-added tax (VAT) is often a major component of national fiscal structures. While its effects on allocative efficiency, inflation, income distribution, and tax administration have been addressed, little work, exists on the theoretical base of a VAT, given its structure. This is essential for knowing how much of the base is actually taxed. Using Mexican national accounts and input-output tables, this paper develops a methodology for calculating the theoretical base of the Mexican VAT for 1980 and 1983 (two years whose individual VAT structures were considerably different). The method is applicable to other VAT systems as well.

Book Synopsis Historical Studies in International Corporate Business by : Alice Teichova
Download or read book Historical Studies in International Corporate Business written by Alice Teichova and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2002-07-18 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This 1989 book is the sequel to Multinational Enterprise in Historical Perspective (1986), in which the same editorial team continues the historical exploration of a vital but often misconstrued commercial phenomenon. The contributory essays, each written by an authority in the field, raise further questions on the idea of the firm, on periodisation and on research and development, and examine the international financial operations of worldwide corporate business. With the aid of trans-industrial and transnational comparisons, the range of policies pursued by business and government is fully discussed. Above all, this discussion is extended to include the production of mass-consumer goods and the areas of China, Japan and Latin America. All the contributions are based on original historical research undertaken in national and private bank and business archives in Europe, the USA and Japan. In their critical assessments and interpretations the authors are also able to combine economic theory with history.
Book Synopsis Time and Space by : Daniel A. Tirado-Fabregat
Download or read book Time and Space written by Daniel A. Tirado-Fabregat and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-11-07 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edited collection examines the evolution of regional inequality in Latin America in the long run. The authors support the hypothesis that the current regional disparities are principally the result of a long and complex process in which historical, geographical, economic, institutional, and political factors have all worked together. Lessons from the past can aid current debates on regional inequalities, territorial cohesion, and public policies in developing and also developed countries. In contrast with European countries, Latin American economies largely specialized in commodity exports, showed high levels of urbanization and high transports costs (both domestic and international). This new research provides a new perspective on the economic history of Latin American regions and offers new insights on how such forces interact in peripheral countries. In that sense, natural resources, differences in climatic conditions, industrial backwardness and low population density areas leads us to a new set of questions and tentative answers. This book brings together a group of leading American and European economic historians in order to build a new set of data on historical regional GDPs for nine Latin American countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. This transnational perspective on Latin American economic development process is of interest to researchers, students and policy makers.
