That's one of the lessons the men in these stories discover in a hurry when they find themselves thrown into gender altering, humiliating, and helplessly arousing situations by the women they think they can get away with mistreating. Dealing with all the new feelings and all the new sensations of a horny woman's body is hard enough, without the added attentions of strong, aggressive doctors who the scheming women inevitably bring to take advantage of their latest prey. Reader Advisory: These stories are for mature audiences only and feature intensely erotic situations, femdom humiliation, feminization gender swap, bimbofication and the use of potent aphrodisiacs, multiple partners and rough group sex, medical examination, sexual manipulation, submissiveness and dominance. All characters are 18 or older. Excerpt "Wh – what?" I asked, and was amazed to hear the sound of my own voice had changed. It was now high, body-less and breathy in a very sensual way. Had I really just made that sound? "What's going on?" "Oh, you don't get it?" she mocked. "Well, I guess the treatment is supposed to make you a bit empty-headed. At least, that's in the precautionary information." I felt at my face, and the obvious started to sink in. "You – you –" "Turned you into a woman, yes," she gloated. "Who knew it would be so easy? And here I was resigned to just another boring Monday." She closed the door behind her and stepped into the room. "And what a body, too," she said. "You said you liked nice tits, right? Well now you've got quite a pair yourself. Maybe that'll help you stop obsessing about mine and every other poor girl who's just trying to earn a living without having to deal with assholes like you." "I – " "Are you starting to feel the other side effects?" she asked. "The – ah – excitability? They say it makes you pretty excitable." "Excitable?" I closed my eyes and shook my head again. "Horny. It makes you a horny little slut, just waiting to be passed around." My eyes flew open at her words. "I –" "Don't worry, I've got you scheduled for a pelvic exam with one of our best doctors. He can get a little rough, I hear, but something tells me you won't object." She gave me a wicked smile. Book excerpt: Jack might have been having a bad day, but he picked the wrong woman's boyfriend to pick a fight with at the bar. It's not enough that he loses the fight, he's going to have to deal with payback that's even more humiliating. Coming to her boyfriend's defense, Miranda is as devious as she is sexy, and she's got her own way of putting Jack in his place. Pretending to take his side, she says she's convinced her boyfriend to book him a free check-up for the bruise on his jaw. In the meantime, she's got pills that should keep down any swelling. But as Jack arrives at the medical facility, he's in for two big surprises. First, Miranda's pill is rapidly turning him into a sexy, busty, helplessly horny woman, and second, Miranda's boyfriend isn't just paying for check-up, he's the doctor who's going to be giving the exam. Miranda plans to have a front row seat as her boyfriend starts to take liberties with his new patient that Jack turned Jill simply can't bring herself to refuse. Book excerpt: When Jake Prescott gets called in for a meeting with his boss's boss and a three man discipline board, he can't help but suspect he's finally crossed the line with the girl from accounting. With a roll of his eyes, he resigns himself to a long, boring lecture about sexual harrassment in the workplace, but within five minutes, he's discovered the truth is much more serious. Someone's tipped them off about the illegal anti-anxiety pills Jake keeps in his desk. But when the discipline board admits they haven't actually figured out what the mysterious little pills are, he swallows them on the spot, explaining that they're just vitamins, thinking that without evidence the whole thing will be moot. It all happens so fast, but in the back of his head he can't help but notice that the pills he just swallowed didn't look exactly like he remembered them. Unfortunately for Jake, his suspicions turn out to be right. The pills the discipline board found in his desk were something else entirely: planted there by none other than the girl he always thought he could push around, and the brash, arrogant man finds himself slowly but unmistakeably transforming into a voluptuous, submissive woman with a sex-drive that's climbing out of control, and right in front of the most powerful men at the company! If that weren't enough, the advisory board has brought in a medical consult, the handsome Dr. Patricks, to help discover what the pills contain, and he steps in to become intimately familiar with the newest female member of the staff, and the other men aren't far behind ... Reader Advisory: This story is for mature audiences only and features intensely erotic situations, femdom humiliation, feminization gender swap, bimbofication and the use of potent aphrodisiacs, multiple partners and rough group sex, sexual manipulation, a highly erotic medical exam, discipline, spanking, submissiveness and dominance. All characters are 18 or older. Excerpt: He put his pen to his pursed lips. "This is a rare opportunity. The change is quite remarkable. I hope you gentlemen don't mind if I do make some notes of this." "By all means." He reached out his hand and put a finger beneath my chin, raising my face to look at me. I allowed him to guide my head, looking back at him with wide, expectant, eager eyes. "You'll note how submissive she's become," he said. "You're quite eager to please us, aren't you Ms. Prescott?" "Oh yes, sir," I agreed, trying to nod but stopping when I felt his finger still holding my head in place. "You want to be a good little slut, don't you?" I shivered excitedly at the word and I felt myself getting very wet. "Yes, sir, very much, sir." "You see how positively she responds to sexually demeaning language," he said, smiling at me. Book excerpt: Short on cash and believing the world owes him an easy job, Chris decides volunteering as a model patient for medical school classes is an easy way to make some quick money. When he finds out the medical school already has plenty of male volunteers, he thinks it's their problem, not his. But when the beautiful and domineering Dr. Essex overhears Chris being rude to her receptionist, she decides the arrogant young man is a perfect candidate for an experimental treatment that will help correct the little gender ratio problem. It shouldn't be a problem that the gender reassignment drug she gives him will turn him into a sex-obsessed little slut, will it? Well, not if she doesn't mention it to Chris. Before Chris understands what's happening, there she is up on an exam table with a whole class watching, learning quickly from one helpless minute to the next how her new body responds to all their prodding and poking. At first she might not be sure whether she's mortified or turned on, but soon enough it's clear to everyone just exactly how it's all affecting her ... and what the Dr. Essex going to have her male students do about it. Book excerpt: The Montgomery Clinic is a bit of an old boy's club, and no one plays the game better than Dr. John Bratton. Even though he's still young, he's got all the right connections and all the right diplomas to get away with pretty much anything he wants. So when several nurses complain to the administration that he's too handsy with his female patients, not to mention with them, he gets a slap on the wrist. But the attractive nurses are more than tired of his lewd comments, and decide he hasn't come close to learning his lesson. When they stumble across an experimental medication, they realize they have the perfect solution. To show the arrogant young doctor how the clinic really treats women, they decide to make him one. Before they're done with him, Dr. Bratton is going to have a very good idea of what it feels like to be used and objectified ... Peak inside to see all the details too dirty for this blurb. Book excerpt: Now updated with groundbreaking research, this award-winning classic examines the construction of sexual identity in biology, society, and history. Why do some people prefer heterosexual love while others fancy the same sex? Is sexual identity biologically determined or a product of convention? In this brilliant and provocative book, the acclaimed author of Myths of Gender argues that even the most fundamental knowledge about sex is shaped by the culture in which scientific knowledge is produced. Drawing on astonishing real-life cases and a probing analysis of centuries of scientific research, Fausto-Sterling demonstrates how scientists have historically politicized the body. In lively and impassioned prose, she breaks down three key dualisms -- sex/gender, nature/nurture, and real/constructed -- and asserts that individuals born as mixtures of male and female exist as one of five natural human variants and, as such, should not be forced to compromise their differences to fit a flawed societal definition of normality.

Book excerpt: In 1930 Danish artist Einar Wegener underwent a series of surgeries to live as Lili Ilse Elvenes (more commonly known as Lili Elbe). Her life story, Fra Mand til Kvinde (From Man to Woman), published in Copenhagen in 1931, is the first popular full-length (auto)biographical narrative of a subject who undergoes genital transformation surgery (Genitalumwandlung). In Man Into Woman: A Comparative Scholarly Edition, Pamela L. Caughie and Sabine Meyer present the full text of the 1933 American edition of Elbe's work with comprehensive notes on textual and paratextual variants across the four published editions in three languages. This edition also includes a substantial scholarly introduction which situates the historical and intellectual context of Elbe's work, as well as new essays on the work by leading scholars in transgender studies and modernist literature, and critical coverage of the 2015 biopic, The Danish Girl. This print edition has a digital companion: the Lili Elbe Digital Archive (www.lilielbe.org). Launched on July 6, 2019, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of Magnus Hirschfeld's Institute for Sexual Science (Institut für Sexualwissenschaft) where Lili Elbe was initially examined, the Lili Elbe Digital Archive hosts the German typescript and all four editions of this narrative published in Danish, German, and English between 1931 and 1933, with English translations of the Danish edition and the typescript. Many letters from archives and contemporaneous articles noted in this print edition may be found in the digital archive.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this pathbreaking book, a well-known feminist and sociologist--who is also the Founding Editor of Gender & Society--challenges our most basic assumptions about gender. Judith Lorber views gender as wholly a product of socialization subject to human agency, organization, and interpretation. In her new paradigm, gender is an institution comparable to the economy, the family, and religion in its significance and consequences. Drawing on many schools of feminist scholarship and on research from anthropology, history, sociology, social psychology, sociolinguistics, and cultural studies, Lorber explores different paradoxes of gender: --why we speak of only two "opposite sexes" when there is such a variety of sexual behaviors and relationships; --why transvestites, transsexuals, and hermaphrodites do not affect the conceptualization of two genders and two sexes in Western societies; --why most of our cultural images of women are the way men see them and not the way women see themselves; --why all women in modern society are expected to have children and be the primary caretaker; --why domestic work is almost always the sole responsibility of wives, even when they earn more than half the family income; --why there are so few women in positions of authority, when women can be found in substantial numbers in many occupations and professions; --why women have not benefited from major social revolutions. Lorber argues that the whole point of the gender system today is to maintain structured gender inequality--to produce a subordinate class (women) that can be exploited as workers, sexual partners, childbearers, and emotional nurturers. Calling into question the inevitability and necessity of gender, she envisions a society structured for equality, where no gender, racial ethnic, or social class group is allowed to monopolize economic, educational, and cultural resources or the positions of power.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the years between the world wars, Manhattan's Fourteenth Street-Union Square district became a center for commercial, cultural, and political activities, and hence a sensitive barometer of the dramatic social changes of the period. It was here that four urban realist painters--Kenneth Hayes Miller, Reginald Marsh, Raphael Soyer, and Isabel Bishop--placed their images of modern "new women." Bargain stores, cheap movie theaters, pinball arcades, and radical political organizations were the backdrop for the women shoppers, office and store workers, and consumers of mass culture portrayed by these artists. Ellen Wiley Todd deftly interprets the painters' complex images as they were refracted through the gender ideology of the period. This is a work of skillful interdisciplinary scholarship, combining recent insights from feminist art history, gender studies, and social and cultural theory. Drawing on a range of visual and verbal representations as well as biographical and critical texts, Todd balances the historical context surrounding the painters with nuanced analyses of how each artist's image of womanhood contributed to the continual redefining of the "new woman's" relationships to men, family, work, feminism, and sexuality.

Book excerpt: "This updated edition of Bornstein's formative My Gender Workbook (1997) provides an invigorating introduction to contemporary theory around gender, sexuality, and power. The original is a classic of modern transgender theory and literature and, alongside Bornstein's other work, has influenced an entire generation of trans writers and artists. This revised and expanded edition extends that legacy, offering an accessible foundation for examining gender in the reader's life and in the broader culture while arguing for the dismantling of all forms of oppression. For fans of the original, Bornstein's new material merits a fresh read..."--Publishers Weekly, starred review Cultural theorists have written loads of smart but difficult-to-fathom texts on gender theory, but most fail to provide a hands-on, accessible guide for those trying to sort out their own sexual identities. In My Gender Workbook, transgender activist Kate Bornstein brings theory down to Earth and provides a practical approach to living with or without a gender. Bornstein starts from the premise that there are not just two genders performed in today's world, but countless genders lumped under the two-gender framework. Using a unique, deceptively simple and always entertaining workbook format, complete with quizzes, exercises, and puzzles, Bornstein gently but firmly guides readers toward discovering their own unique gender identity. Since its first publication in 1997, My Gender Workbook has been challenging, encouraging, questioning, and helping those trying to figure out how to become a "real man," a "real woman," or "something else entirely." In this exciting new edition of her classic text, Bornstein re-examines gender in light of issues like race, class, sexuality, and language. With new quizzes, new puzzles, new exercises, and plenty of Kate's playful and provocative style, My New Gender Workbook promises to help a new generation create their own unique place on the gender spectrum.

Americans have built an empire on the idea of “race,” a falsehood that damages us all but falls most heavily on the bodies of black women and men—bodies exploited through slavery and segregation, and, today, threatened, locked up, and murdered out of all proportion. What is it like to inhabit a black body and find a way to live within it? And how can we all honestly reckon with this fraught history and free ourselves from its burden? Between the World and Me is Ta-Nehisi Coates’s attempt to answer these questions in a letter to his adolescent son. Coates shares with his son—and readers—the story of his awakening to the truth about his place in the world through a series of revelatory experiences, from Howard University to Civil War battlefields, from the South Side of Chicago to Paris, from his childhood home to the living rooms of mothers whose children’s lives were taken as American plunder. Beautifully woven from personal narrative, reimagined history, and fresh, emotionally charged reportage, Between the World and Me clearly illuminates the past, bracingly confronts our present, and offers a transcendent vision for a way forward.

Book excerpt: Degradation, dehumanization, instrumentalization, humiliation, and nonrecognition – these concepts point to ways in which we understand human beings to be violated in their dignity. Violations of human dignity are brought about by concrete practices and conditions; some commonly acknowledged, such as torture and rape, and others more contested, such as poverty and exclusion. This volume collates reflections on such concepts and a range of practices, deepening our understanding of human dignity and its violation, bringing to the surface interrelationships and commonalities, and pointing to the values that are thereby shown to be in danger. In presenting a streamlined discussion from a negative perspective, complemented by conclusions for a positive account of human dignity, the book is at once a contribution to the body of literature on what dignity is and how it should be protected as well as constituting an alternative, fresh and focused perspective relevant to this significant recurring debate. As the concept of human dignity itself crosses disciplinary boundaries, this is mirrored in the unique range of perspectives brought by the book’s European and American contributors – in philosophy and ethics, law, human rights, literature, cultural studies and interdisciplinary research. This volume will be of interest to social and moral philosophers, legal and human rights theorists, practitioners and students.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Institutionalizing Gender analyzes the relationship between class, gender, and psychiatry in France from 1789 to 1900, an era noteworthy for the creation of the psychiatric profession, the development of a national asylum system, and the spread of bourgeois gender values. Asylum doctors in nineteenth-century France promoted the notion that manliness was synonymous with rationality, using this "fact" to pathologize non-normative behaviors and confine people who did not embody mainstream gender expectations to asylums. And yet, this gendering of rationality also had the power to upset prevailing dynamics between men and women. Jessie Hewitt argues that the ways that doctors used dominant gender values to find "cures" for madness inadvertently undermined both medical and masculine power—in large part because the performance of gender, as a pathway to health, had to be taught; it was not inherent. Institutionalizing Gender examines a series of controversies and clinical contexts where doctors' ideas about gender and class simultaneously legitimated authority and revealed unexpected opportunities for resistance.
