Fifteen noise-sensitive residential areas were selected as sites for the noise measurements, and results are presented. Some of the sites are currently affected by traffic noise and some are not, which will enable both negative impacts (increases in noise from the new highway) and positive impacts (decreases in noise due to traffic being re-routed to the new highway) to be identified. Impacts from both construction noise and traffic noise are discussed, along with possible measures to mitigate noise impacts. The methods used to model and predict the noise from the new highway are also reviewed.
