WHAT IS IT? 16 Battleship-type, communicative pair activities for the 16 most common ESL textbook topics. Thus, you can have a pronunciation focus with whatever unit or topic you are covering. These COORDINATE WORDS (usually about 20) feature the most difficult sounds for ESL students to distinguish and pronounce, such as: light-right; ship-sheep; pat-fat, pool-pull, gin-chin. The ANSWER WORDS (usually about 22) are vocabulary from the ESL topic, for example, FOOD: appetizer, bland, brunch, buffet, crispy, dessert, leftovers, sweet tooth, vegetarian. The similar sounding coordinate words create confusion. Clearing up that confusion improves both listening and pronouncing.
