This book was released on 2023-01-06 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book details results of a study that sought to understand the relationship of children who were provided palliative cancer care, their families and the palliative care unit team members with healthcare clowns of an organization that is part of this team. More specifically, the book explores the roles healthcare clowns play in an Oncology Unit and PINDA center in Santiago, Chile. With a qualitative approach, an emergent and cross-sectional design, and strict ethical considerations, data were collected between December 2019 and December 2020. In total, 36 participants were interviewed, while drawings and photographs were collected as documents, and discussion groups were held for each cluster (encompassing mothers, the clinical team and healthcare clowns) to deepen aspects revealed in the interview analysis. Within the book, the results of the research are arranged in emerging themes related to positive effects on well-being and quality of life, especially for validation and emotional regulation, the humane healthcare that the healthcare clown provides in this context, the healthcare clown as a mediator in this transition period, bonds of friendship with children and their inclusion as family members, and the complementarity of this technique with traditional treatments.

Book Synopsis Confesiones De Un Psiquiatra by : Margarita Lourenco
Download or read book Confesiones De Un Psiquiatra written by Margarita Lourenco and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2011-06-03 with total page 493 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Nursing, Policy and Politics in Twentieth-century Chile by : Markus Thulin
Download or read book Nursing, Policy and Politics in Twentieth-century Chile written by Markus Thulin and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-03-16 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers the first in-depth account of healthcare policy in Chile across the twentieth century. It charts how nursing and nurses intersected with the political context of healthcare, with a focus on the country’s transition across welfare systems. Drawing on extensive archival research and interviews with nurses and governmental representatives, this book explores how the nursing profession implemented and challenged reform, while policies had an impact on nurses. It analyses nurses’ employment and mobility, and their lobbying through the press and through unions. The authors demonstrate that while Chilean health policy was influenced by US cultural politics, reform depended on the flexibility and willingness of nurses to carry through reforms. By examining the participation of the largest female professional group, the book offers new insights into the privatization of society on the pinnacle of industrial development and seeks to contribute to contemporary debates on Chile’s welfare system. It is a vital read for scholars researching the history of public health.
