Book excerpt: This book challenges its audience to become so equipped with God's Word as to be able to neutralize unbiblical dogmas that today's children are learning and explores the existence and nature of God, creation, sin, Old Testament heroes, the life of Christ, salvation, and the Christian's eventual grand becoming, like our glorious Lord. Joyce May Neverson is an evangelical Christian of Afro-West Indian descent who has devoted most of her life (from 1960 to the present) to Christian education via Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, and AWANA children and youth ministries. Apart from her being a life-long student of the Bible, over the years Ms. Neverson has taken several teacher training courses offered by Child Evangelism Fellowship and other such training entities offering programs geared to honing the skills needed for the effective communication of God's word to children and youth. She studied nonfiction with Longridge Writing Group between 1998 and 2001 (she also holds a Poet Laureate certificate, received in September 2003 from The International Library of Poetry). From 1983 to the present, Ms. Neverson has served as editor for Now - God's Time - a quarterly periodical published under the auspices of The Good Tidings Gospel Chapel here in Brooklyn, New York, where she, along with her husband Daril and family, have fellowshipped since 1972. She is the mother of three married children - Lois, a nurse coordinator, Stephen, a music school teacher, and Warren, a seminary student - who, along with their spouses are all committed Christians Ms. Neverson's education, training, and 36 years' experience as a registered nurse (now retired) allow her to bring unique perspectives to bear on some of the topics she discusses in her book, The Grand Becoming, topics such as: evolution and intelligent design.

Book Synopsis In His Name by : E. Christopher Reyes
Download or read book In His Name written by E. Christopher Reyes and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2014-05-16 with total page 469 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today, almost all the major Christian sects tell their followers what they can or cannot read. The truth could be disastrous to their faith. In 1562, the Vatican established a special censoring office called Index Expurgatorius, whose sole purpose was to prohibit the publication of Erroneous Passages of the Early Church Fathers, which carried statements opposing their modern-day dogma. The Word is whatever the Christian Church says it is and when Vatican archivists came across genuine copies of the Church Fathers, they corrected [edited, added, abridged, condensed, and supplemented] them according to the Expurgatory Index (Index Expurgatorius Vaticanus, R. Gibbings, ed., Dublin, 1837; The Literary Policy of the Church of Rome, Joseph Mendham, J. Duncan, London, 1830, 2nd ed., 1840; The Vatican Censors, op. cit., p. 328). But throughout history, few but the great thinkers of society understood this symbiotic relationship of politics and religion, and those who spoke out became stigmatized by both the powerful priesthood and the ruling oligarchy. You sniveling priest, you are imposing delusions upon society for your own aggrandizement (Voltaire, French philosopher, rationalist, free thinker). ________________________________________ All developed societies are but an extension of the political views of the ruling oligarchy upon the many, the suffering poor. If every criminal and inhumane act ever committed were traced to its root cause, that root would be buried deep in religion (Sherry Matulis, activist, 1931). ________________________________________ The most infamous Catholic of the all time, one of historys great mass murderers, Hitler, realizes the symbiotic relationship between children and religion and puts it succinctly in the twentieth century: The state must declare the child to be the most precious treasure of the people. As long as the government is perceived as working for the benefit of the children, the people will happily endure almost any curtailment of liberty and almost any deprivation (Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf).
Book Synopsis The Reception and Transmission of Civil Procedural Law in the Global Society by : Masahisa Deguchi
Download or read book The Reception and Transmission of Civil Procedural Law in the Global Society written by Masahisa Deguchi and published by Garant. This book was released on 2008 with total page 361 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In modern times, the civil procedural laws of every country have been influenced by those of other countries. For instance, the Japanese legal system was itself influenced by Chinese culture and later developed independently under the policy of national isolation. And since 1868, Japan has modernized its civil procedural law, using French, German, and American law as its models. Japan has recently tried to contribute by way of legislative and legal educational assistance to other Asian countries (Vietnam, Cambodia, etc.) in civil and procedural law. The civil procedural laws of different countries should be expected to harmonize with each other in the global society. This book is the outcome of the Congress of the International Association of Procedural Law at the Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto, Japan. In this book, various outstanding contributors are treating a contemporary legal problem in their own civil procedural systems, including examples from India, the Netherlands, Korea, Italy, China, Japan, etc.

Book Synopsis Disciples of Destruction by : Charles W. Sutherland
Download or read book Disciples of Destruction written by Charles W. Sutherland and published by Prometheus Books. This book was released on with total page 464 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What's going on in the world? Every day we hear more horror stories about the wars in the Middle East. Americans are afraid to travel world-wide because of their justified fears of terrorism. And here, at home, we watch with amazement as the fundamentalists battle over control of a TV empire riddled with sex and drugs, with a scenario that makes prime time television look tame.As money, sex, and power once again take their toll, Disciples of Destruction examines religion itself and the role it has played since time, as we know it, began. Sutherland uncovers and analyzes the real ramifications of organized religion and its devastating effects on Western civilization.Disciples of Destruction is packed with little-known vignettes that are sure to astonish, amuse, and sometimes even outrage the reader. Few will fail to be drawn in by the account of the Corpse Synod, in which a Pope's body was exhumed, put on trial for high crimes, and subsequently dragged through the streets of Rome; or shocked by the plausible contention that Albino Luciani, elected Pope John Paul I in 1979 but destined to reign for only 33 days, did not die a natural death but was in fact assissinated.Sutherland convincingly concludes that organized religion, even today, maintains the proclivities of its barbaric origins, as Israeli expansionism, the Vatican's obsession with its financial empire, the atrocities of Khomeini's Islamic Republic, and Marxist militarism and repression amply demonstrate. These proclivities, updated to our century, indicate that while the long battle to liberate the mind from the fear of tyranny continues, the slow process of slaying the dragons of mythology is not keeping step with the pace of nuclear weapons development and deployment, which accelerates in the context of an equally explosive growth of religious fundamentalism. Unchecked, this makes armageddon the easiest prophecy to fulfill.
