Viele christliche Schüler wissen von ihren muslimischen Schulkameraden, dass Muhammad ein hoch angesehener Prophet im Islam ist. Einige werden sicherlich die Erfahrung gemacht haben, dass ein muslimischer Mitschüler nicht erfreut reagiert, wenn Nichtmuslime sich über den Propheten mokieren. Warum ist das so? Welche Bedeutung hat Muhammad für den Islam und was macht ihn so besonders, dass er eine Vorbildfunktion für Muslime hat? In diesem Essay soll herausgearbeitet werden, wie man als Lehrkraft das Thema Muhammad im evangelischen Religionsunterricht anhand des Elementarisierungsansatzes behandeln kann. Dabei wird zunächst die Bedeutung des Propheten Muhammad in das Thema einführen. Anschließend wird der Elementarisierungsansatz vorgestellt. Anhand zweier Aspekte dieses Ansatzes wird das Thema daraufhin für Schüler eines Gymnasiums in der sechsten Klasse elementarisiert. Abschließend werde ich meine Ergebnisse im Fazit zusammenfassend darstellen und mögliche Herausforderungen benennen.
