This book was released on 2019 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis The Anthropology of Disasters in Latin America by : Virginia García-Acosta
Download or read book The Anthropology of Disasters in Latin America written by Virginia García-Acosta and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-12-09 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers anthropological insights into disasters in Latin America. It fills a gap in the literature by bringing together national and regional perspectives in the study of disasters. The book essentially explores the emergence and development of anthropological studies of disasters. It adopts a methodological approach based on ethnography, participant observation, and field research to assess the social and historical constructions of disasters and how these are perceived by people of a certain region. This regional perspective helps assess long-term dynamics, regional capacities, and regional-global interactions on disaster sites. With chapters written by prominent Latin American anthropologists, this book also considers the role of the state and other nongovernmental organizations in managing disasters and the specific conditions of each country, relative to a greater or lesser incidence of disastrous events. Globalizing the existing literature on disasters with a focus on Latin America, this book offers multidisciplinary insights that will be of interest to academics and students of geography, anthropology, sociology, and political science.
Book Synopsis Technological Change and Labor Markets by : Reyna Elizabeth Rodríguez Pérez
Download or read book Technological Change and Labor Markets written by Reyna Elizabeth Rodríguez Pérez and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-10-28 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In developed countries like the US, Germany and the UK it has been observed that workers who perform non-routine activities, either cognitive or manual, have benefited in terms of employment and income, while those performing routinary tasks have seen their job prospects and wages decline. This has led to a polarization of the labor markets and to a decrease in certain measures of inequality. This phenomenon has been attributed to task-biased technological change (TBTC), which differs from the skilled biased technological change in the fact that not only highly skilled workers have benefited from technology advancement. This book presents evidence of how digitalization and task-biased technological change are affecting the labor markets of different regions of the world and examines the factors that cause this inequality among nations. It examines recent issues around the effect of task-biased technological change on labor markets and the economy in general, with a comparison of different countries in Central and Eastern Europe, North America, and Latin America, as well as in other regions of the world. The incorporation of the abovementioned regions presents relevant particularities for the subject matter addressed in the book. The book also considers questions such as how labor market effects differ by gender and what the impact of digital skills on employment, inequalities and public policies might be. In so doing, it identifies the advances, opportunities, and changes that have taken place, while also making public policy proposals. The main market for the book is the global community of graduate students and researchers in the field of economics and, specifically, in the study of labor markets.
Book Synopsis Sólo Quien Se Siente Amado Puede Ser Educado by : Juan Bosco Abascal Carranza
Download or read book Sólo Quien Se Siente Amado Puede Ser Educado written by Juan Bosco Abascal Carranza and published by Palibrio. This book was released on 2012-10 with total page 413 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Disrupción tecnológica, transformación y sociedad by : Juan Carlos Henao
Download or read book Disrupción tecnológica, transformación y sociedad written by Juan Carlos Henao and published by Universidad Externado. This book was released on 2021-06-01 with total page 903 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
