Book Synopsis The Gospel of Thomas by : Simon James Gathercole
Download or read book The Gospel of Thomas written by Simon James Gathercole and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2014-05-22 with total page 735 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this new commentary on the controversial Gospel of Thomas, Simon Gathercole provides the most extensive analysis yet published of both the work as a whole and of the individual sayings contained in it. This commentary offers a fresh analysis of Thomas not from the perspective of form criticism and source criticism but seeks to elucidate the meaning of the work and its constituent elements in its second-century context. With its lucid discussion of the various controversial aspects of Thomas, and treatment of the various different scholarly views, this is a foundational work of reference for scholars not just of apocryphal Gospels, but also for New Testament scholars, Classicists and Patrologists.
Book Synopsis The Composition of the Gospel of Thomas by : Simon Gathercole
Download or read book The Composition of the Gospel of Thomas written by Simon Gathercole and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2012-03-01 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses two central questions in current research on the Gospel of Thomas: what was its original language and which early Christian works influenced it? At present, theories of Thomas as a Semitic work abound. Simon Gathercole dismantles these approaches, arguing instead that Thomas is Greek literature and that the matter of Thomas's original language is connected with an even more controverted question: that of the relationship between Thomas and the canonical New Testament. Rather than being independent of Matthew, Mark and Luke (as in most Western Aramaic theories of Thomas) or thoroughly dependent on the four gospels (as in most Syriac approaches), Gathercole develops a newly refined approach to how Thomas is influenced by the Synoptic Gospels. Thomas can be seen to refer to Matthew as a gospel writer, and evidence is discussed showing that Thomas incorporates phraseology distinctive to Luke, while also extending that special Lukan language.
Book Synopsis Un Jesús desconocido by : Armand Puig
Download or read book Un Jesús desconocido written by Armand Puig and published by Grupo Planeta (GBS). This book was released on 2008 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gnosis means knowledge. But we are not referring to just any knowledge. Gnosis is knowledge which produces a great transformation in those who receive it. Knowledge capable of nothing less than waking up man and helping him to escape from the prison in which he finds himself. That is why Gnosis has been so persecuted throughout the course of history, because it is knowledge considered dangerous for the religious and political authorities who govern mankind from the shadows. Every time this religion, absolutely different from the rest, appears before man, the other religions unite to try to destroy or hide it again. Primordial Gnosis is the original Gnosis, true Gnosis, eternal Gnosis, Gnostic knowledge in its pure form. Due to multiple persecutions, Primordial Gnosis has been fragmented, distorted and hidden.

Download or read book The Lost Years of Jesus written by Elizabeth Clare Prophet and published by SCB Distributors. This book was released on 2020-12-22 with total page 467 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "“Reads like a detective thriller! It picks you up and never lets go of you.” —Jess Stearn, bestselling author of Edgar Cayce, The Sleeping Prophet Ancient texts reveal that Jesus spent 17 years in the Orient. They say that from age 13 to age 29, Jesus traveled to India, Nepal, Ladakh and Tibet as both student and teacher. For the first time, Elizabeth Clare Prophet brings together the testimony of four eyewitnesses—and three variant translations—of these remarkable documents. She tells the intriguing story of how Russian journalist Nicolas Notovitch discovered the manuscripts in 1887 in a monastery in Ladakh. Critics “proved” they did not exist—then three distinguished scholars and educators rediscovered them in the twentieth century. Now you can read for yourself what Jesus said and did prior to his Palestinian mission. It’s one of the most revolutionary messages of our time."
