Book Synopsis Carlos Castaneda, Oportunismo Académico Y Los Psiquedélicos Años Sesenta by : Jay Courtney Fikes
Download or read book Carlos Castaneda, Oportunismo Académico Y Los Psiquedélicos Años Sesenta written by Jay Courtney Fikes and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2009-02 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Carlos Castaneda's books are accepted as truthful by millions of Spanish speakers, probably because most of them have not read this Spanish translation of Professor Fikes' book, Carlos Castaneda, Academic Opportunism and the Psychedelic Sixties. Dr. Fikes published this book in 1993 in Canada, after completing years of research in Mexico and the United States. Now two Spaniards, Juan Samper and Lourdes Escario, have translated Fikes' book without payment, convinced that it is valuable for everybody. Carlos Castaneda's central claim, to have learned sorcery from an elderly Yaqui Indian named don Juan Matus, is contradicted by Professor Jay Fikes' evidence. Fikes'

Book Synopsis Sisters in Blue/Hermanas de azul by : Anna M. Nogar
Download or read book Sisters in Blue/Hermanas de azul written by Anna M. Nogar and published by University of New Mexico Press. This book was released on 2017-06-15 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sisters in Blue tells the story of two young women—one Spanish, one Puebloan—meeting across space and time. Sor María de Jesús de Ágreda, New Mexico’s famous Lady in Blue, is said to have traveled to New Mexico in the seventeenth century. Here Anna M. Nogar and Enrique R. Lamadrid bring her to life, imagining an encounter between a Pueblo woman and Sor María during the nun’s mystical spiritual journeys. Tales of Sor María, who described traveling across the earth and the heavens, have traditionally presented her as an evangelist who helped bring Catholicism to the Pueblos. Instead this book, which includes an essay providing historical context, shows a connection between Sor María and her friend Paf Sheuri. The two women find more similarities than differences in their shared experiences, and what they learn from each other has an impact for centuries to come.
Book Synopsis Book of Poems (Selection)/Libro de poemas (Selección) by : Federico García Lorca
Download or read book Book of Poems (Selection)/Libro de poemas (Selección) written by Federico García Lorca and published by Courier Corporation. This book was released on 2012-03-06 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The passionate life and violent death of Federico Garcia Lorca (1898–1936) retain an enduring fascination for readers around the world. Murdered by Nationalists at the outset of the Spanish Civil War, Lorca died at the peak of his creative powers. He remains his country's most widely translated writer, surpassed only by Cervantes in terms of critical commentary. This selection includes 55 of the 68 poems that comprised Lorca's 1921 Libro de poemas, all of them in their entirety and in their original sequence. Imbued with the spirit and folklore of the poet's native Andalusia, these verses feature the most complex spiritual content of any of Lorca's works. Editor Stanley Appelbaum provides sensitive, accurate English translations on the pages facing the original Spanish, as well as an informative introduction to the author's life and oeuvre, plus notes on the individual poems. An outstanding resource for students and teachers of Spanish language and literature, this compilation will enchant any lover of poetry.
