This book was released on 2007 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of the research was to determine the strength and deformation characteristics of base material produced from recycled asphalt pavement (RAP) and aggregate. Various samples with different ratios of RAP and aggregate base were mixed (% RAP/aggregate): 0/100, 25/75, 50/50, 75/25. Laboratory compaction testing and field monitoring indicated that gyratory compacted specimens were closer to the densities measured in the field. Resilient modulus (MR) tests were generally conducted following the National Cooperative Highway Research Program 1-28A test protocol. MR increased with increase of confining pressure, but MR showed little change with deviator stress. The specimens with 65% optimum moisture contents were stiffer than the specimens with 100% optimum moisture contents at all confining pressures. Cyclic triaxial tests were conducted at two deviator stresses, 35% and 50% of the estimated peak stress, to evaluate recoverable and permanent deformation behavior from initial loading to 5000 cycles. The specimens with RAP exhibited at least two times greater permanent deformation than the 100% aggregate material. As %RAP increased, more permanent deformation occurred. In summary, the base material produced with various %RAP content performed at a similar level to 100% aggregate in terms of MR and strength when properly compacted.

Download or read book Effects of Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement on Mechanical Properties of Base Materials written by Dane A. Cooley and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 63 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reuse of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) in the full-depth recycling (FDR) process is a cost-effective and environmentally responsible method of asphalt pavement reconstruction. Although FDR has been used for several years in some locations, the effect of RAP on the mechanical properties of recycled base materials has not been well documented. The purpose of this research was to investigate the influence of RAP on the mechanical properties of recycled base materials typical of northern Utah.

This book was released on 2003 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The global response to COVID-19 has demonstrated the importance of vigilance and preparedness for infectious diseases, particularly influenza. There is a need for more effective influenza vaccines and modern manufacturing technologies that are adaptable and scalable to meet demand during a pandemic. The rapid development of COVID-19 vaccines has demonstrated what is possible with extensive data sharing, researchers who have the necessary resources and novel technologies to conduct and apply their research, rolling review by regulators, and public-private partnerships. As demonstrated throughout the response to COVID-19, the process of research and development of novel vaccines can be significantly optimized when stakeholders are provided with the resources and technologies needed to support their response. Vaccine Research and Development to Advance Pandemic and Seasonal Influenza Preparedness and Response focuses on how to leverage the knowledge gained from the COVID-19 pandemic to optimize vaccine research and development (R&D) to support the prevention and control of seasonal and pandemic influenza. The committee's findings address four dimensions of vaccine R&D: (1) basic and translational science, (2) clinical science, (3) manufacturing science, and (4) regulatory science.

Book Synopsis Cold-recycled Bituminous Concrete Using Bituminous Materials by : Jon A. Epps
Download or read book Cold-recycled Bituminous Concrete Using Bituminous Materials written by Jon A. Epps and published by Transportation Research Board. This book was released on 1990 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This synthesis will be of interest to pavement designers, construction engineers, and others interested in economical methods for reconstructing or rehabilitating bituminous pavements. Information is provided on the processes and procedures used by a number of states to recycle asphalt pavements in place without application of heat. Since 1975 a growing number of state highway agencies have reconstructed or rehabilitated asphalt pavements by recycling the old pavement in place. This report of the Transportation Research Board describes the processes used for cold in-place recycling, including construction procedures, mix designs, mixture properties, performance, and specifications.
