Book excerpt: This book provides a unique perspective on the linguistic relationships between the Ancient Egyptian and Bantu languages of East/Central/Southern Africa. It will be of interest to readers of Egyptology, linguists, students, and the wider public who wish to find out more about the structure of the Ancient Egyptian language and how it connects with other languages, particularly with Bantu languages. The subject matter is different from other books as it examines the etymology of words, together with their sound/meaning relationships and shows by using verifiable hieroglyphic forms how Ancient Egyptian words may be pronounced by inserting Bantu vowels which fit the meanings derived from the skeletal templates of consonants in the Ancient Egyptian language.

This book is an attempt to begin the processes of African self-rediscovery. The ending of slavery and colonialism removed only our physical agony, but the trauma of long and extended torture left deep rooted anguish within the psyche of African race. The effects of this imprint legacy will continue until we start addressing these negative effects. In an effort to do this, the book has provided several suggestions. Some of the program are being provided at the Institute of Mind Talk Afrika.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Towards a Comparative Dictionary of Cikam and Modern African Languages is a collection of vocabulary comparisons from the various works of Asar Imhotep (from 2013-2019) of the ancient Egyptian language with cognates in modern African languages (e.g., ciBantu, Kalenjiin, Sumerian, Yorùbá, and Meroitic). This is a preliminary work whose aim is to set the foundation for an online searchable database of ancient Egyptian vocabulary and its cognates in other Cyena-Ntu (formally Negro-Egyptian) languages. This book begins with an examination of internal comparisons of the ancient Egyptian language (primarily Middle-Egyptian) in an effort to detect dialect varieties and/or other languages spoken in the Nile Valley. From there we examine Egyptian with modern African languages, as well as two ancient languages: i.e., Sumerian and Meroitic. There is little commentary as the focus is only to display and demonstrate the regularity of sound-meaning correspondences between the compared languages. This sets the groundwork for a more detailed analysis of the data (for additions and corrections), in conjunction with other comparative studies, so that future researchers can establish the sound-laws that explain the evolution of forms from the proto-language (Post-Classic Cyena-Ntu) to the modern varieties in the daughter languages.

Book excerpt: The language that is today called Egyptian Hieroglyphs was called Medu Neter by the inhabitants of the Nile Valley civilization . They called their country Kemet, not Egypt. Medu Neter is truly the classical language of Africa. Medu Neter is the oldest African Language for which there is a large body of written texts. There are more texts written in Medu Neter than in any other ancient world language. The people of Kemet left an abundance of detailed data which, until recent decades, was only available to Egyptologist, archeologists, anthropologists, museums and a select few scholars and collectors. Now, serious students can learn how to read what the Kemites wrote on papyrus, and on the temple walls. This book, the Writing System of Medu Neter takes the student step by step through the sound and writing system of this beautiful language. Learning Medu Neter may be one of the most interesting experiences that you will ever have.

Book excerpt: Using genetic, anthropological, linguistic and historical evidence Dr. Clyde Winters explains that ancient Egypt was a multiethnic society in which each of the 42 sepats or nomes (Egyptian administrative centers) was dominated by a different ethnic group, who probably spoke various Niger-Congo languages. It illustrates that because Egypt was a multi-ethnic and multi-lingual society the ancient Egyptian language is related to languages spoken in Black Africa. Egyptian Language: The Mountains of the Moon, Niger-Congo Speakers and the Origin of Egypt illustrates that because of the existence of each sepat originally as an independent state meant that once the sepats were united into Kemit, Egyptian scholars were forced to create a lingua franca to provide the Egyptian people with a single means of communication for governmental, religious, intellectual and commercial purposes. The genetic relationship between ancient Egyptian and Black African languages make it clear that ancient Egypt or Kemit was a Pan-African civilization and that the Egyptian language is a link language used to unite the regional languages formerly spoken in the sepats of ancient Egypt.
