Warren and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page 75 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The research examined the relationship between personality factors and the effects of microencapsulation in Mission Oriented Protective Posture level 4 (MOPP4) gear on performance and anxiety level. Acclimatization to the anxiety producing effects of MOPP4 was also investigated. For comparison purposes, subjects performed tasks and filled out questionnaires in both a Battle Dress Uniform (BDU) condition and MOPP4 condition. For each of the 12 volunteer military subjects, measures of subjective trait and state anxiety, self-reported personality traits, and various sensorimotor and cognitive performance measures were gathered. Personality factors, state and trait anxiety, and measures of sensorimotor and cognitive performance were related to each other in complex ways and to microencapsulation in MOPP gear. On the first day of donning MOPP4, subjects' state anxiety increased significantly. Over the course of five daily sessions of wearing MOPP4, the level of state anxiety decreased so that by the fifth day, the subjects no longer showed elevated state anxiety. Subjects who reported high levels of anxiety before or associated with introversion. Subjects who reported low anxiety before or after the daily test period reported characteristics associated with extraversion. Subjects who performed better on a balance beam task or correctly identified more visual stimuli on tachistoscope task tended to report characteristics of independence. (AW).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Provides athletic specialists, trainers, and coaches with resources for monitoring athletes to avoid over-training, burnout, and decreased performance. The questionnaire is based on the hypothesis that an accumulation of stress in different areas of life, with insufficient opportunity for recovery, leads to a compromised psychophysical state. Stress states are based on 12 nonspecific and seven sports-specific scales. The questionnaire package offers tools to measure and track an athlete's recovery, including two complete questionnaires (72- and 56-item forms), manual scoring keys, profile sheets, and a user manual that describes questionnaire development and data and profile interpretation.c. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Clear and compact guidance on integrating mindfulness into practice This clear and concise book provides practical, evidence-based guidance on the use of mindfulness in treatment: its mechanism of action, the disorders for which there is empirical evidence of efficacy, mindfulness practices and techniques, and how to integrate them into clinical practice. Leading experts describe the concepts and roots of mindfulness, and examine the science that has led to this extraordinarily rich and ancient practice becoming a foundation to many contemporary, evidenced-based approaches in psychotherapy. The efficacy of mindfulness-based interventions in conditions as diverse as borderline personality disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, alcohol and substance use, emotional dysregulation, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, chronic stress, eating disorders, and other medical conditions including type 2 diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis is also described. The book is invaluable reading for all those curious about the current science around mindfulness and about how and when to incorporate it effectively into clinical practice.
