Book Synopsis Principles of Learning and Memory by : Robert G. Crowder
Download or read book Principles of Learning and Memory written by Robert G. Crowder and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2014-11-20 with total page 533 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this landmark volume from 1976, Robert Crowder presents an organized review of the concepts that guide the study of learning and memory. The basic organization of the book is theoretical, rather than historical or methodological, and there are four broad sections. The first is on coding in memory, and the relations between memory and vision, audition and speech. The second section focuses on short-term memory. The third is loosely organized around the topic of learning. The final section includes chapters that focus on the process of retrieval, with special attention to recognition and to serial organization. Crowder presumes no prior knowledge of the subject matter on the part of the reader; technical terms are kept to a minimum, and he makes every effort to introduce them carefully when they first occur. It is suitable for advanced undergraduate and graduate courses.

Book Synopsis Ameliorating Mental Disability by : Alfred A. Baumeister
Download or read book Ameliorating Mental Disability written by Alfred A. Baumeister and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-07-12 with total page 705 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book grows out of the optimistic view that mental retardation can be treated. It views mental retardation primarily as a behavioral problem. A child is diagnosed as retarded primarily because he behaves in certain maladaptive ways, not simply because he may have a chromosomal anomaly. The contributors view any intervention intended to produce adaptive changes in the behavior of the retarded as "treatment." The authors come from the fields of medicine, special education, and speech and hearing, as well as from psychology. The book is intended to help students and workers in the field apply research findings and theoretical formulations in their appraisal and treatment of mental retardation. The primary emphasis of the book is empirical. While many of the author's suggestions have not been subjected to rigorous experimental scrutiny, almost all have been derived from close examination of the research literature. A wide diversity of topics are included in this volume. Criteria employed were the relevance of the topic to the understanding and modifi cation of defective behavior; and the subject's popularity or neglect in other sources. Ameliorating Mental Disability will be of interest to medical officers in institutions for the mentally challenged, lecturers giving courses for teachers of the educationally subnormal, and to psychologists, social workers, and teachers.

Download or read book Human Factors Technology in the Design of Simulators for Operator Training written by Alfred F. Smode and published by . This book was released on 1963 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report presents an organized body of information useful for dealing with those human factors problems frequently encountered in the development of the Weapons System Trainer. Emphasis is given throughout to the general problems involved in developing the complete training system rather than to the analysis of details specific to given training systems. It summarizes basic human factors information which influences the design and construction of training devices. Successive chapters of the report are devoted to determining training needs, developing the environment for learning, understanding simulation requirements for training, developing a measurement capability, and discussing the human engineering problems in trainer design. As it provides a considerable background of human factors information pertinent to the synthetic ground environment, this report will be of interest to individuals directly concerned with Weapons System Training programs, preparing trainer specifications, developing training standards, and testing and evaluating simulation equipment. Book Synopsis Verbal Short-term Memory as a Function of Degree of Learning on a Perceptual-motor Interpolated Activity by : Robert G. Crowder
Download or read book Verbal Short-term Memory as a Function of Degree of Learning on a Perceptual-motor Interpolated Activity written by Robert G. Crowder and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The research deals with the effects of a perceptual motor filler activity upon the retention for groups of words and the formulating of an empirical analogy between short-term memory tasks and the division of attention. Results indicate that there is a single central channel for information-processing and that success in time-sharing depends on the amount of spare mental capacity. (Author).
