Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shortly after William Penn was granted the tract of land known as Pennsylvania by King Charles II in 1680, he began offering 'rights' to a set number of acres for investors. These 'rights' were generally offered in lots of 5,000 acres, but 'rights' for smaller tracts were allowed, the minimum purchase size being 250 acres. The purchaser would receive a warrant in exchange for his money. This warrant provided proof of his right to select a tract of land of specific size, not already claimed, once he arrived in America. Once suitable land was located, the purchaser then applied to the Surveyor General for a survey, which once completed enabled the purchaser to apply for a patent, when he could afford the fee. Originally published as Volume XIX of the Second Series of the Pennsylvania Archives in 1893, this work contains the Minutes of the Board of Property beginning with Book C, which is believed to be the earliest legible collection of property records, and continuing on through Book I. Covering the time frame from March 13, 1687 through March 30, 1732, this 2 volume set is essential for anyone wishing to research early Pennsylvania genealogy. For each property the board assesses in these records, a history of the tract is given, providing a considerable amount of genealogical information about the family who owned the land. The original surname index has been included.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bucks County was one of Pennsylvania's original counties. This work includes references to all persons found in the land records, with the goal of revealing information useful to genealogical research. These land records include deeds, leases, releases, mortgages, agreements and declarations of trust. From these records, one can discover an ancestor's family relationships, occupation, neighbors and perhaps even a little about his lifestyle, including debts and lawsuits. Some of these land records provide the name of the owner as far back as the 1680s, when the original grantee received the patent from William Penn. The entries are arranged in the order they were recorded in the deed books, and the original page number is included. A full name index rounds out this useful resource.

This book was released on 2018-12-13 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The land records of York County, Pennsylvania, begin with the founding of the county in 1749. This book represents abstracts from Deed Book E (1771-1774) and Deed Book F (1773-1775). The county was created out of Lancaster County, which, at its inception, included all of present day York and Adams Counties. Adams County was established in 1800. Most of the early settlers of York County were Germans. The Scotch-Irish settlers began arriving shortly after the Germans, settling the southeastern region of the county. In many of the deeds, the line of ownership reveals the relationship of parents, grandparents, spouses and others. This is especially helpful when the ancestor died without a will (intestate). An index to full-names and places adds to the value of this work.
