This book was released on 2015-06-11 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many reports over the last few years have analysed the potential use of games, videogames, 3D environments and virtual reality for educational purposes. Numerous emerging technological devices have also appeared that will play important roles in the development of teaching and learning processes. In the context of these developments, learning rather than teaching becomes the main axis in the organisation of the educational process. This process has now gone beyond the analogue world and face-toface education to enter the digital world, where new learning environments are being produced with ever greater doses of realism. Teaching and Learning in Digital Worlds examines the teaching and learning process in 3D virtual environments from both the theoretical and practical points of view.
Book Synopsis Meeting Basic Learning Needs in the Informal Sector by : M. Singh
Download or read book Meeting Basic Learning Needs in the Informal Sector written by M. Singh and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-09-28 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In advancing the vision of adult learning articulated at the International Conference on Adult Education (CONFINTEA V) held in Hamburg in 1997, the UNESCO Institute for Education has been conducting studies on the different areas and dimensions of ‘Adult Learning and the Changing World of Work’. One question that has been central to this area is: What constitutes adult learning for those who traditionally secure their survival in the informal economy, as well as for those school leavers and dropouts who are forced to work in this sector? In answering this question, the informal sector or popular economy may be defined in various ways, but there is an increasing recognition that it is a phenomenon that has come to stay and that government policies aimed at economic and social development, including national education and training policies and programmes, should target those who work in this sector. In particular, basic education and continuing education and training are being seen as key to empowering people and as crucial to strategies for reducing poverty. Moreover, there is a growing awareness that education is a human right of fundamental siginificance to promoting decent work and humane living conditions. It is in view of such considerations that UIE and the ILO planned to conduct studies in South Asia (Nepal, Bangladesh, India) to develop an understanding of the quality provision of education and skills development in and for the informal sector.

Book Synopsis The School-Based Vocational Education and Training System in Spain by : Fernando Marhuenda-Fluixá
Download or read book The School-Based Vocational Education and Training System in Spain written by Fernando Marhuenda-Fluixá and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-10-11 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses the developments in policy and practice in the field of formal, non-formal and continuing vocational education and training in Spain since 1970. It describes how VET has been transformed and become one of the country’s main areas of pedagogical innovation, and also examines current developments, such as the role of non-formal vocational education and training, the accreditation of vocational qualifications acquired in the non-formal system, and the adoption of dual apprenticeships that bear little resemblance to central European dual systems. Written by respected researchers in these fields, the first section is informative and analytical, offering a description of the system and comments based on academic literature and research. The second section illustrates the research on relevant issues, portraying empirical data from different regions in Spain, as well as nationwide data. Explaining and interpreting data on the basis of the authors’ different theoretical frameworks, the book provides a comprehensive, updated and accurate overview of VET and relevant research in Spain, as well as their relation to European and global developments.
Book Synopsis Myths and Brands in Vocational Education by : Anja Heikkinen
Download or read book Myths and Brands in Vocational Education written by Anja Heikkinen and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2015-09-18 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses whether certain approaches to (vocational) education have become mythicized and branded, and the reasons for and consequences of this commodification. Additionally, the book also investigates how researchers are contributing to mythicizing and branding in education. Although transnational and comparative studies are increasingly taking into account historical and cultural ideas, is this a result of the exploitation of historical and cultural research for industrial purposes and education export? Educational brands should attract global customers and advertise countries as smart environments for global investments.

Book Synopsis Brain Drain Or Brain Gain? by : Bettina-Johanna Krings
Download or read book Brain Drain Or Brain Gain? written by Bettina-Johanna Krings and published by edition sigma. This book was released on 2011 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Identification, Assessment and Recognition of Non-formal Learning in Spain by : Juan José Castillo
Download or read book Identification, Assessment and Recognition of Non-formal Learning in Spain written by Juan José Castillo and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes and analyzes the situation of nonformal learning in Spain. Chapter 1 describes the Spanish context by looking at qualification as the point of departure; recent changes in the industrial fabric of Spain and the birth of a new social and institutional view of qualification; the reform of vocational education and training; informal learning in Spain; and the status of work experience in the social debate. Chapter 2 describes and analyzes the schemes and initiatives set up to identify, recognize, and establish the role played by nonformal learning in the social process of constructing qualifications. Five areas in which nonformal learning is recognized and assessed are addressed: the role played by nonformal learning in public employment policies; the status given to nonformal learning by the education authorities, provisions for access to the formal education system, and the scope for recognition of nonformal qualifications; the new national system of qualifications and the creation of the national institute for qualifications; certificates of occupational proficiency; and recognition of nonformal learning within the field of collective bargaining. Chapter 3 considers the direction in which recognition of work-based learning will move, including certificates of occupational proficiency and vocational titles. Chapter 4 draws conclusions.
