Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Philosophy is the way of life; it is how to live and how to look at life. "Drink this, it will give you the courage to speak the truth", one day my friend handed me a glass of whiskey saying these words. Really?! Is it true that alcohol gives us courage to speak the truth? Over the years, I've been a part of many so-called 'sessions', where a group of people meets up over drinks. During these sessions, I've seen people speak more openly and without much of a filter on what's coming out of their mouth. Initially, I thought these were of just entertainment value, and it is fun to take part in these discussions. Slowly, however, I realized that alcohol brings out some of our most profound thinking processes. I was fascinated by the way people think. Some of the discussions were pointless and incomprehensible, but often very interesting conversations happened. Some were comedy, some were serious arguments. But usually, both happen haphazardly. Strangely when I thought of comprehending these conversations in my mind, I found them somewhat philosophical! "There is no Absolute Truth" "Why is God always a HE?" "In life's Truth or Dare game, one needs more Dare to play on the side of Truth!" "Whatever comes out of the lower half of our body gives us immense satisfaction!" "Love - an intense feeling of deep affection" You cannot force or plead a racist to stop being a racist. "Movies are a retelling of or exaggerated versions of human life and fantasies" "A government's primary responsibility towards its citizens is not to take, but to give" "Do humans HAVE morality because we are intelligent OR do Humans NEED morality because we are intelligent?" "Be Happy to do your Karma with Love"

Book Synopsis God, A Drunken Philosophy by : J. Melton
Download or read book God, A Drunken Philosophy written by J. Melton and published by Publishamerica Incorporated. This book was released on 2007-06 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a story of growth. It is an emotional evolution through self-dialogue, cynical yet passionate, laid upon sacrificed trees. The subject of God drives every thinker into its grasp or just out of its reach. Mr. Melton experienced this while engulfed in and surfacing from insanity. Harold has re-written his past, dissecting each feeling using prose, poetry, stories, biographical reflections, true and not. This project of written analysis displays the mental confusion of a man. Harold discovers as an adult he is still a child. With an abusive childhood and an addicted adulthood, the decision of recovery reveals life. Hardcore and relentless, this chaos theory thought process multiplies the fixed with infinity, creating possibility and potential from a seventeen-year drunken junkie. As vague as this may sound, God, A Drunken Philosophy is written as a tool to its author and published as an instrument via example for others.
Book Synopsis The Drunken Silenus by : Morgan Meis
Download or read book The Drunken Silenus written by Morgan Meis and published by Slant Books. This book was released on 2020-04-09 with total page 119 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Drunken Silenus is a book that is as hard to categorize as it is to put down--an enlightening and mesmerizing blend of philosophy, history, and art criticism. Morgan Meis begins simply enough, with a painting by the Baroque master Peter Paul Rubens of the figure from Greek mythology who is mentor to Dionysus, god of wine and excess of every kind. We learn who this obscure, minor god is--why he must attend on the god who dies and must be re-born and educated all over again--and why Rubens depicted him not as a character out of a farce, but as one whose plight evokes pity and compassion. The narrative spirals out from there, taking in the history of Antwerp, bloody seventeenth-century religious wars, tales of Rubens's father's near-execution for sleeping with William of Orange's wife, Nietzsche's Birth of Tragedy and the impossibility of there being any meaning to human life, and the destruction of all civilization by nefarious forces within ourselves. All of this is conveyed in language that crackles with intelligence, wit, and dark humor--a voice that at times sounds a bit tipsy and garrulous, but which ultimately asks us to confront the deepest questions of meaning, purpose, and hope in the face of death and tragedy.
