Many scholars have thrown light on the position of women in the Vedic, Buddhist and later periods of ancient Indian history and have also made a study of their status in the legal literature of the times. Only few attempt mainly deals with sexual life in Epics. In this book the original sources drawn upon are the two great Epics, the Mahabharata and the Ramayana. In tracing the status of women in the Epics, the author has strictly endeavored to draw conclusions from the evidences gathered from these two great Epics. The very nature of Epic literature is dealt with in detail in the introduction, pre-Vedic and Vedic traditions provide the social background of the Epic Society. In the United States on a Fulbright Scholarship, he knows no one - apart from the television presenters, who are rapidly becoming familiar. Everything seems so quiet and empty after life in Kolkata. And then in the Spirituality section of a bookshop, he meets Devdasi (formerly Deborah). She wants to set him up with the talented but elusive Aditi. But Deep is focused on his research into 1920s Calcutta, and an English writer whose relationship with a young Indian man was doomed. When Deep is asked to show a reluctant Madhav around his new American city, however, he is shocked to find himself sexually attracted to him. What buried secrets from Deep's past will this attraction bring to the surface? And will history inevitably repeat itself? The Scholar is Niladri Chatterjee's passionate and provocative love letter to the power of literature, to the city of Calcutta, and to its undocumented, constantly surprising queer past.

Book Synopsis Enoch and the Return of the Gods by : Erich von Däniken
Download or read book Enoch and the Return of the Gods written by Erich von Däniken and published by Red Wheel/Weiser. This book was released on 2023 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The bestselling author of Chariots of the Gods, Erich von Däniken, examines the great traditions of mankind, thousands of years old, for signs, traces, messages that point to early contact with extraterrestrial intelligences. The Gods were here. But when will the return? Or have they ever really left? The culmination of long-term research, Enoch and the Return of the Gods argues that we are very much in the minds and eyes of other cosmic life forms and that, as a result, many of the dramatic historical events and remarkable teachings of religious texts should be reinterpreted. Erich von Däniken examines the great traditions of mankind, thousands of years old, for signs, traces, messages that point to early contact with extraterrestrial intelligences. The texts of the Bible are at the center of his text-critical interpretations, which pick apart the sense and nonsense of religious views. He also draws on ancient Jewish sagas and legends, reports from early historians, and Indian, Babylonian, and Persian traditions. As always, von Däniken finds support for such questions as: Did Adam and Eve witness a UFO? Who was Enoch and did he speak the language of extraterrestrials? What will Judgement Day truly be? Why did extraterrestrials tinker with humanity's DNA? The gods were here, and it is clear their influence remains to this day. This book was first published in 1998 under the title The Return of the Gods. This new edition features a new introduction by the author.
