Once Upon a Dream marks the second book in a new YA line that reimagines classic Disney stories in surprising new ways. It should be simple--a dragon defeated, a slumbering princess in a castle, a prince poised to wake her. But when the prince falls asleep as his lips touch the fair maiden's, it is clear that this fairy tale is far from over. With a desperate fairy's last curse controlling her mind, Princess Aurora must escape from a different castle of thorns and navigate a dangerously magical landscape--created from her very own dreams. Aurora isn't alone--a charming prince is eager to join her quest, and old friends offer their help. But as Maleficent's agents follow her every move, Aurora struggles to discover who her true allies are and, moreover, who she truly is. Time is running out. Will the sleeping beauty be able to wake herself up?

Yet, their pervasive impact on Muslim communities and on the lives of individual Muslims remains largely unknown and rather surprising to Westerners. This book addresses this gap in understanding with a fascinating and diverse account, taking readers from premodern Islam to the present day. Dreams and visions are shown to have been, and to be, significant in a range of social, educational, and cultural roles. The book includes a wealth of examples detailing the Sufi experience. Contributors use Arabic, Persian, Indian, Central Asian, and Ottoman sources and employ approaches grounded in history, sociology, psychology, anthropology, religious studies, and literary analysis. This is an illuminating work, showing how ordinary Muslims, Muslim notables, Sufis, legal scholars, and rulers have perceived both themselves and the world around them through the prism of dreams and visions.

Book excerpt: Tales book series comprising dream time stories similar to "Alice in Wonder land" but drawn from the Igbo folklore. This is the second of those volumes. The Igbo are an ethnic group in Nigeria. Story telling is considered a valuable art by the Igbo. As a child, I listened to tales from an endless stock of the Igbo folklore. I was told these stories at bedtime, by my grandmother, an aunt or an uncle. The same story was sometimes re-told but differently and with a dose of personal flavour. These tales often revolve around the tortoise and his wily ways, in a fabled universe where mankind and animals shared the same language and lived happily together. This mythical world also shared boundaries with the mystic world of the spirits, and entities from both worlds freely interacted with one another. My daughter, Chinelo, has been my inspiration in writing these stories. I tell her these stories at bedtime. She enjoys them and always asks for more. These stories make her look forward to bedtime just like they made me when I was a child. The Dream Tales are interesting and entertaining with the power to transport readers and listeners to the mystic world of the spirits and a mythical kingdom where mankind and animal belong to the same specie of beings. The book would be enjoyed world wide by children of reading age, from all cultures and by adults as well. It is the sort of book an adult would read in summer while sitting on the beach, under a tree or in a hammock; in winter by the fire place or tucked in bed; or just to pass time in the train or on the plane. The book can be read to children as bedtime stories or re - told with adaptation to suit the mood, interests, personality or age of the child.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A unique self-help guide to dream interpretation using techniques and icons from cultures around the world. • Challenges the assumption that all symbols universally signify the same thing to all dreamers. • Includes numerous stories, games, and exercises for inducing, recalling, interpreting, and utilizing dreams. • Extends beyond Jung and Freud to include dream theory from numerous world cultures, including the Temiar of Malaya, the African Ibans, the Lepchka of the Himalayas, and the Ute of North America. Dreaming can be used as a tool for understanding our own consciousness, enhancing creativity, receiving visions, conquering fears, interpreting recent events, healing the body, and evolving the soul. Tapping into the vast dreaming experiences and lore of the world's cultures--from the Siwa people of the Libyan desert to the Naskapi Indians of Labrador--Sarvananda Bluestone challenges the assumption that all symbols universally signify the same thing to all dreamers. The World Dream Book encourages readers to develop their own, personalized symbols for understanding their consciousness and provides a series of stories, multicultural techniques, and games to help them do so. Playful explorations, such as the aboriginal "Sipping the Water of the Moon," teach how to induce, recall, interpret, and utilize the power of dreams. Readers will discover how a stone under a pillow can help us remember a dream and will explore their own dormant artist and writer as they reclaim the power of their sleeping consciousness. Sarvananda Bluestone applies his uniquely engaging style to demonstrate that, with a few simple tools, everybody has the capacity to unleash their full dreaming potential.
