Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do you know some of the stories from the Bible? There's the story of how God created the earth; Noah and the ark; Joseph and his coat of many colors; Moses and the burning bush; David and the giant, Goliath; the story of Jesus's birth; many stories of Jesus healing people; and, of course, the wonderful story of the first Easter. Did you ever wonder how each of these stories and many others were chosen to be in the Bible and how they fit together? Each of these small stories is part of a much, much larger story. Now most stories begin and end. They start with "once upon a time" and end with "they lived happily ever after." The Bible is different because it is God's story, and He is a forever God. His story goes "from before the beginning" and continues "to forevermore," and it is all about His big plan for you and me. Are you interested in learning more? I should warn you that since God is so big, His story takes a bit of brain stretching to understand. But don't worry, brain stretching is not painful.

Book excerpt: Why do we do religion? Religion appears in human life because every human being, even if not fully aware of it, lives in a land of mystery with rushing rivers of freedom, imposing mountains of care, and wild seas of tranquility. This land of mystery penetrates the land of ordinary living at every point. Awe is our experience of this ever-present Eternity. This book is about how the Awe that is happening in our everyday lives is key to understanding both the renewal of Christianity and the need for non-bigoted dialogue among all religions on Earth.

Book excerpt: Moses Malone is a drug dealer who wakes up in the middle of the night with a crisis of conscience. Determined to go straight, live a virtuous life, adopt a dog and give back to the society he'd prided himself on being outside of, Moses must deal with the resistance, frustration and often sheer panic of his loyal clients. It's a series of breakups that lead to violence, bargaining, and improbably, a real love affair with a doomed soap opera actress. It's a play about growing up, and looking hard in that deep, dark truthful mirror. "Marc Spitz is one of my favorite playwrights; I have been to at least half of his dozen plays, and I have never been disappointed. He knows how to shake people up; make them laugh, gasp and gag. Expect bad taste, bad language, snappy dialogue, theatrical surprises and maybe something that really grosses you out." -Tom Murrin, Paper Magazine

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Everyone thinks you’ve got it together. But inside, you’re asking, “Am I enough?” No matter how good we look to others, the nagging voice of self-doubt is hard to shake. We ask questions like: If people really knew me would they still accept me? Will I be rejected when I can’t perform? Can I pull this off? What if I end up alone? Am I missing out on what life should be because I can’t shake this fear? If you find yourself having thoughts like these, Erica Wiggenhorn wants to lead you to freedom. Drawing from the story of Moses—the greatest self-doubter in the Bible—Erica shows how self-doubt is tied closely to self-reliance. It’s only when you cast yourself on God that you find the true source of strength. Are you enough? The answer is no . . . but your God certainly is. Step out in His power instead of your own and watch your confidence blossom because you’re in the hands of I AM.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Roy presents information that allows the reader to retain what is read. For example, the major prophets can be remembered using the term JEDI from the Star Wars movie, J -Jeremiah, E – Ezekiel, D – Daniel, I – Isaiah. Roy reveals some of God’s humor. 1 Kings 11:29-31. Jereboam meets the prophet Ahiah, who demonstrates that Jereboam will rule 10 0f the 12 tribes of Israel by cutting Jereboam’s “new garment” into 12 pieces and giving Jereboam 10. There he stands in his diaper holding 10 rags. Try explaining that to a stranger. The Bible does tell of more serious moments such as 2 Kings 15. During the captivity, All 18 kings of the northern kingdom were bad. The last five kings became kings by murdering their predecessor, We could say the KKK existed i.e, Kings Killing Kings. Some critical information is not obvious. Who is “us” in Genesis 1:26? I And God said let us make man in our image.... Us is the trinity, God, Jesus, The Holy Spirit. They are mentioned in the first chapter of the bible. Roy brings to life the actions of biblical characters is an easy to understand manner that helps to understand scripture. Lets consider the Noah flood. The flood occurred 10 generations after Adam. The average age before the flood was 858 and after the flood it was 317. In order to compare this to today, we divide each side by 10 and get 86 and 32 ie, people died at 32 instead of the normal 86, Why? Solar radiation. We sent wasp larvae into space and proved this theory. The “windows of heaven” were the cooling clouds of a new planet. It had not rained since God created earth Gen 2:5. Water came from two directions, rain and flooding ie, Genesis 7:11. Roy also covers the activities between the Old and New testaments including Persia, Greece, Macabeans and Rome.

Book excerpt: During troubled times, millions have been inspired by the stories and spiritual lessons of the selfless leadership of Moses. In a world increasingly affected by political, social, and racial imbalance, we need strong, innovative leaders who have not forgotten or ignored these valuable lessons. How Millennials Can Lead Us Out of the Mess We're In: A Jew, a Muslim, and a Christian Share Leadership Lessons from the Life of Moses brings together an Israeli-born rabbi, a Pakistani-born Muslim scholar, and an ordained Midwestern American to inspire the next generation of leaders with a timeless story of the ancient prophet Moses. Written in an easy and accessible style, this book is meant for sincerely spiritual but church-resistant Bible readers as well as those who are familiar with the Moses narrative. No leadership book has ever attempted to synthesize the religious views of Judaism, Islam, and Christianity into one unified, harmonious voice singing a single hymn.

Book excerpt: The book "The Blessings of Sacrifice and the Joy of Service" focuses on two traits of the true disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ who came to the world, served and paid for the sins and redemption of mankind with His life. Jesus "... made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men..." (Philippians 2:7, NIV). He also, in His own words, "...came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." (Matthew 20:28, NIV). Jesus is our perfect example and if Christians are going to be true witnesses of Jesus, they must experience the blessings of sacrifice and the joy of service.

Book excerpt: Laura Knight-Jadczyk's series, The Secret History of the World, is one of the most ambitious projects ever undertaken to provide a cogent, comprehensive account of humanity's true history and place in the cosmos. Following the great unifying vision of the Stoic Posidonius, Laura weaves together the study of history, mythology, religion, psychology and physics, revealing a view of the world that is both rational and breathtaking in its all-encompassing scope. This second volume, Comets and the Horns of Moses, (written in concert with several following volumes soon to be released) picks up the dangling threads of volume one with an analysis of the Biblical character of Moses -- his possible true history and nature -- and the cyclical nature of cosmic catastrophes in Earth's history. Laura skillfully tracks the science of comets, revealing evidence for the fundamentally electrical and electromagnetic nature of these celestial bodies and how they have repeatedly wreaked havoc and destruction on our planet over the course of human history. Even more startling however, is the evidence that comets and cometary fragments have played a central role in the formation of human myth and legend and the very concept of a 'god'. As she expertly navigates her way through the labyrinth of history, Laura uncovers the secret knowledge of comets that has been hidden in the great myths, ancient astronomy (and astrology) and the works of the Greek philosophers. Concluding with a look at the political and psychological implications of cyclical cometary catastrophes and what they portend for humanity today, Comets and the Horns of Moses is a marvel of original thought and keen detective work that will rock the foundations of your understanding of the world you live in, and no doubt ruffle the feathers of the many academics who still cling to an outdated and blinkered view of history.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Listening to the Bible is exponentially more powerful than reading it. You pick up on fascinating, curious, and alarming things you miss when you read it: The serpent in Eden told the truth; Cain married a wife and built a city with a global population of only three people; women are sexual predators; disabled people desecrated Gods temple; the earth went into a counter revolution; God approved polygamy, and recommended slavery; a runaway slave got converted to Christianity and was promptly sent back to his slave master; the soon and imminent coming of Jesus is 2000 years over due! As the author listened to his Bible and compared what he heard with what is deemed appropriate, reasonable, and civilized in this modern era, he could not help but conclude that his Bible does say the darndest things.

The More Messy People leader guide outlines six small group sessions, complete with prayers, summaries, and discussion questions. It is designed to be used with the participant workbook and DVD and will support group leaders of all experience levels in creating strong learning communities. Jen Cowart continues her study of the very messy lives of biblical heroes—people who, like us, made mistakes but found God was able to use them in powerful ways. They all play a significant role in the biblical narrative, but their stories are far from perfect. Through the lives of rival sisters like Leah and Rachel, or sisters with very different personalities like Martha and Mary, we see God chooses to use people who don’t have it all together. Through the lives of great, but imperfect, biblical heroes like Moses, Elijah, Peter, and Paul, we see God meets us in our troubles and chooses us even if we seem unqualified.

Book excerpt: Joseph’s story continues in this heart-wrenching young adult novel that grapples with tragedy and coming of age. Joseph’s sophomore year is about to begin, but his new start is a false one. At his father’s request, Joseph moved in with Aunt Shirley, Uncle Todd, and cousin Jasmine over the summer to distance himself from his mother’s drug problems and the dangerous characters she interacts with. But efforts to keep Joseph safe have had tragic results. As Joseph contends with his grief, his mother’s persistent pleas for money, and the distance between himself and his father in Iraq—not to mention schoolwork, making the tennis team, and a new relationship—he’s learning what’s most important to him, and what sacrifices he’ll have to make to become the person he needs to be.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the story of the bible told like you've very likely never heard it told before. The bible is one the most highly regarded literary works of all time. A number one best-seller before there even was such a thing, the bible has long been the most purchased book in history. The problem is however, that most people haven't actually read the book, and those who have don't really understand a very fundamental fact about the bible. That fact being that the bible is in all honesty, simply a very bad work of fiction. In my version I strip away all the metaphysical mumbo-jumbo and all the supposedly miraculous nonsense, and tell the story for exactly what it is. The bible is nothing more than a collection of fictional works from the minds of deluded and possibly mentally ill men, which tells the story of the most powerful wizard ever to exist. This wizard just so happens to supposedly live in another dimension, and the bible offers the stories of how this extra-dimensional wizard used to supposedly interact with mankind.
