Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I've wanted to write another book for quite some time now. My last work, Unlikely Allies: 8 Steps to Bridging Divides that Impact Leadership, was written and published in 2010. I love to write. I just don't make the time to do it as often as I should or desire. Sharing information, empowering, and inspiring people is what I truly love to do. Part of the challenge of why it's taken me so long to write another book is I didn't know what I was going to write about. Should it be about business, politics, inspiration, or motivation? Yes, there are other books with those topics brewing in my mind, but something out of the ordinary happened to me in 2021 and it's been in my heart to share it. When I first received the news, I was stunned. It absolutely took me by surprise, but oddly, I didn't get emotional about it. The follow-up letter, additional tests, and consistent information shared to me by the nurses and doctors prepared me for what was to come. They were kind and gentle with the news. Methodical, prepared, and knowledgeable about everything they expressed to me. You see, they've seen all of what I was to experience before. Probably hundreds of times with all the people they serve. But this was my first time...ever. And so, my story, my journey, will be told and is my next published work. As you read this book, you will note that I switch from first person to third person throughout. Parts of this work are direct comments from my journal on any given day. I pray that these words will be a blessing to you! "And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him; and if he has committed sins, they shall have forgiven him." James 5:15-16

Book excerpt: When sincere believers succumb to temptation it is seldom a sudden thing," writes Richard Exley. "Rather it is the culmination of a series of seemingly innocent compromises that ultimately result in a tragic fall." Exley refers to seven stages of temptation that are common in almost every sinful failure. Maybe you will recognize them, or maybe you are struggling at one of them right now. No matter what stage you are in, don't be discouraged, Deliver Me is ultimately a book of encouragement. It is a guide to enhance your Christian walk by allowing scriptural principles to become part of your spiritual disciplines.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Finding JOY in Cancer chronicles my battle with cancer, spanning approximately one year—from diagnosis to treatment to recovery. Throughout the book, I share plenty of stories from my life and some meaningful quotes as well as selected Bible verses. I was healthy and happy most of my life. At the age of fifty-two, I was diagnosed with leukemia. Although we beat leukemia, ever since then, I seemed to always be sick. About thirteen years later, cancer stuck its nose into my life. It was cancer of the throat. Thinking like a lifelong sport coach and coach educator, I knew I needed a game plan. I decided that for me to survive this fight with throat cancer, I needed a positive mindset and a game plan with God by my side. I knew I needed Him to help me through this adversity. My focus was to be on a bit of Scripture from James 1:2–3: “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” How was I going to find JOY in cancer? Somehow God grabbed my heart and, in essence, said, “Come along with me, son.” I was determined to somehow find JOY in this killer. We fought it. We beat it. And I did find JOY throughout the entire cancer experience. That inspired me to share my story with others. The purpose is to communicate my experience to share how God took a hold of me and practically carried me through my treatment and recovery. It is hoped that this short book will allow the reader to think about how he or she might find JOY when encountering trials and adversity.

Ever since her mom's cancer scare, Hadley hasn't been one for taking risks. And after seeing her sister go through one too many heartbreaks, she definitely has no interest in dating. Hadley just wants to keep her head down and enjoy the rest of high school with her friends, focusing on her photography and getting into the art school of her dreams. Then enters Braden, star of the swim team and precisely the kind of person Hadley avoids, all bravado and charm and impulsivity. From their first moment together, they are perfect sparring partners, equally matched. And it's intoxicating. Braden sees her, really sees her, and Hadley decides it might be time to break all her rules. Braden shows Hadley how to live again, and soon Hadley is happier than she'll ever admit out loud. But that's before her family is faced with devastating news, and Braden starts hiding a growing, dark secret. As it threatens to shatter everything they've built, Hadley must confront her own actions and determine if she has the strength to walk away.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All senior citizens look forward to good health as those later years draw near. But often times that doesnt happen, and they must deal with their misfortune. John F. Welsh Jr. is an award-winning author, an ex-newspaper reporter, and a retired grocer. But, most important, he survived a year-long battle with cancer, and then fell victim to an ongoing mystery disease that left him with changed facial features, an inability to chew and swallow solid foods, and sagging eyelids that impaired his vision. He has taken his writing talents into this poignant, compact, and detailed memoir which cautions his fellow seniors of what might be in store for them. Welsh does this with good humor and the experiences he encountered as he moved from doctor to doctor . . . and from waiting room to waiting room. He makes fun of the gowns he is issued, and refers to his several physicians as his medical roster. His wife, Mary, a retired nurse, serves as his main care-giver and escorts him from medical centers to hospital operating rooms as his doctors battle his debilitating ailment.

It is a true account of Mike Turnbull's battle with a rare and aggressive form of cancer. The story is told primarily through the eyes of Mike's wife Karen, and details how her and the Turnbull's two sons fight to keep joy in their lives. From Mike's career as a professional musician to being wheelchair bound after cancer spread to his brain stem, to becoming a five-time triathlete, this story is raw, unfiltered and, although at times unbelievable, all true. It is above all else a story about how faith, family, friends and the power of prayer continue to strengthen this family.
