This essential manual answers three challenging questions about teaching spelling: Why is there a problem with teaching and learning spelling? What can be done about it? How can this be accomplished? The first part of the book helps teachers understand the systems of English spelling and the regularities, which are not necessarily phonological. It explores the errors that learners really make and the challenges faced by teachers. The second part outlines a fresh, new, multi-dimensional approach to teaching spelling which recognises the need for learner engagement and strategy training as well as work on the patterns found in English orthography. The final part of the book presents over seventy engaging and effective activities which are designed to develop a range of strategies and knowledge about English spelling.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Style: An Approach to Appreciating Theatre offers brief, readable chapters about the basics of theatre as a starting point for discussion, and provides new adaptations of classic plays that are both accessible to students learning about theatre and fit for production. In this text, style is the word used to describe the various ways in which theatre is done in real space and time by humans in the physical presence of other humans. The book uses style, the "liveness" of theatre that makes it distinct from literature or history, as a lens to see how playwrights, directors, designers, and actors bring scripts to life on stage. Rather than focusing on theatre history or literary script analysis, it emphasizes actual theatrical production through examples and explores playscripts illustrating four theatrical styles: Realism, Theatricalism, Expressionism, and Classicism. Susan Glaspell’s Realistic play Trifles is presented as written, while The Insect Play by the Brothers Čapek, The Hairy Ape by Eugene O’Neill, and Antigone by Sophocles are original, full-length adaptions. Style: An Approach to Appreciating Theatre is the perfect resource for students of Theatre Appreciation, Introduction to Theatre, Theatrical Design, and Stagecraft courses.

This book was released on 2020-07-06 with total page 65 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How To Write Anything: The Format Of What You Write May Change But The Process Of Writing Anything Remains The Same This book is called How To Write Anything, and I confess there is some ego involved in the title. But then I've been a professional writer for over 40 years. As one of Canada's most successful writers and authors, I have written hard news articles, soft news and feature articles, advertising and promotional copy, media releases, reports and proposals, case studies, research papers, email messages, website content, tweets, blog posts, and other online content. I have also written over 20 books on business, promotional and online writing and other topics, such as writing articles, memoir writing and living with Multiple Sclerosis, a disease that I have, but one that has not prevented me from writing or training. I've also written a collection of short stories, poetry, and a couple of plays. So while I haven't written everything, I've written many things. The fact is that you can't read this book and go forth and write anything if you are not familiar with the format or structure of the document that you want to write--be it non-fiction or fiction. For instance, if you want to write a report, you do so using the methods in this book. However, you have to know how to structure reports. The same is applicable to email, social media content, articles, promotional content, case studies, reports, white papers, PowerPoint presentations, speeches, website content, short stories or novels. So some of you reading this book might still have some learning to do. However, I suspect most of you know the structure of the documents you want to produce and you will be able to immediately apply the methods outlined in the book to writing any document that you need to write.
