Book excerpt: First Published in 2011. This special issue of The Interpreter and Translator Trainer provides a forum for reflection on questions of ethics in the context of translator and interpreter education. Covering a wide range of training contexts and types of translation and interpreting, contributors call for a radically altered view of the relationship between ethics and the translating and interpreting profession, a relationship in which ethical decisions can rarely, if ever, be made a priori but must be understood and taught as an integral and challenging element of one’s work

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quantitative marketing as a discipline started around the mid 60's and has been dominated by only a handful of individuals. Robert Blattberg is one of them and has been a leader in setting a research agenda for this discipline. The collection of articles in this book along with commentary by some of his doctoral students is a magnificent testament to the genius of Robert Blattberg. The chapters in this book are organized into six parts. The first part, titled ?Early Bob?, traces research which he completed during the first decade after he joined University of Chicago. The second part is titled ?Statistical Bob?. This part comprises papers that Robert wrote in characterizing the response of consumers to dealing. The third part is titled ?Promotional Bob?, and covers roughly a ten-year stretch from 1987 to 1996. The fourth part titled ?Big Bob?, describes Robert's contribution to and impact on marketing practice. The fifth part is titled ?Direct Bob?, and focuses on what customer level data should be gathered, how they should be organized, linked and analyzed, and what metrics should be used to assess customer value. The sixth and final part titled ?Micro-Macro Bob?, is not genre or area specific as much as an illustration of Robert's overall research interests in marketing-mix modeling.

Book Synopsis Challenges and Solutions in Ethnographic Research by : Tuuli Lähdesmäki
Download or read book Challenges and Solutions in Ethnographic Research written by Tuuli Lähdesmäki and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-07-14 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Challenges and Solutions in Ethnographic Research: Ethnography with a Twist seeks to rethink ethnography ‘outside the box’ of its previous tradition and to develop ethnographic methods by critically discussing the process, ethics, impact and knowledge production in ethnographic research. This interdisciplinary edited volume argues for a ‘twist’ that supports openness, courage, and creativity to develop and test innovative and unconventional ways of thinking and doing ethnography. ‘Ethnography with a twist’ means both an intentional aim to conduct ethnographic research with novel approaches and methods but also sensitivity to recognize and creativity to utilize different kinds of ‘twist moments’ that ethnographic research may create for the researcher. This edited volume critically evaluates new and old methodological tools and their ability to engage with questions of power difference. It proposes new collaborative methods that allow for co-production and co-creation of research material as well as shared conceptual work and wider distribution of knowledge. The book will be of use to ethnographers in humanities and social science disciplines including sociology, anthropology and communication studies.

Book Synopsis The Strategy and Tactics of Pricing by : Thomas T. Nagle
Download or read book The Strategy and Tactics of Pricing written by Thomas T. Nagle and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-07-31 with total page 422 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Strategy and Tactics of Pricing is the most well-established and influential strategic pricing text available, relied on by practitioners and students globally as a core guide for value-based pricing. The book explains how to balance the ability to create and extract value through from markets by managing pricing decisions in a more strategic and profitable manner. Rather than calculating prices to cover costs or to achieve sales goals, readers will learn to frame more strategic choices that proactively influence customer perceptions of value, manage internal costs, and profitably shift demand curves. This edition features new discussions on harnessing concepts from behavioral economics as well as a refined "value cascade" to help organize the topics covered in this book. Readers will also benefit from: Major revisions to more than a third of the chapters, including an expanded discussion of the role of artificial intelligence and machine learning analytics tools to assist in the evaluation of new pricing opportunities Discussion of many of the new pricing and revenue-recognition models such as consumption-based pricing, outcomes-based pricing, and others An expanded discussion on "Special Topics in Pricing" that cover many of the transformative pricing moves successful companies have made in the past few years in response to major disruptive forces such as the pandemic as well as re-emergent inflation In-chapter textboxes and call-out to highlight different "pricing concepts in action" using actual examples of companies addressing market challenges Chapter summaries and visual aids to help the reader better understand the ideas and concepts presented throughout this book This comprehensive, managerially-focused text is a must-read for students and professionals with an interest in strategic price management and achieving commercial excellence for their organizations. Additional online resources include PowerPoint slides and an instructor’s manual, including exercises, mini-cases, and examination questions.
