This book was released on 2019-09-04 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What are the foundations of the famous Makkō-Hō series and the stretches of Masunaga? What are the similarities and differences between these series? Can you become more flexible? What effect would that have on your overall health? And what do the stretches have to do with life energy? In The essence of Makkō-Hō and the stretches of Masunaga, Do-In teacher and trainer Lilian Kluivers gives thorough and clear answers to these questions and more. Makkō-Hō and the Six Stretches of Masunaga look pretty similar but have their own focus and benefits. Lilian Kluivers gives detailed insights in both series so they can be practiced as they were meant to. She explains how life energy, meridians and the meridian extensions of the famous teacher Masunaga work, and gives alternative versions of traditional exercises. Essential for Do-In teachers, shiatsu therapists, yoga teachers and everyone who wants to take responsibility for their own wellbeing. "We live in a world where yoga is hot in a multitude of styles and a cornucopia of information is available on the internet. It's almost impossible to find what fits you best. In that case, going back to basics and diving into one single discipline is a great idea. Lilian Kluivers made the choice to take us on a journey into the ancient practice of the basic series of Do-In. The origins, philosophy, exercises, adaptations for physical challenges and the health benefits are all covered in depth. She is thorough in her approach of all aspects, but in a way that invites you to immediately get to work on moving energy through your meridians, nourishing your organs, creating a higher level of wellbeing and a renewed acquaintance with your body and mind. Because as soon as you read this book, you will know for sure: Do-In is for everyone and I want to know more about it!"Yoff Kau, teacher TCM, Meridians and Do-In, Dutch Shiatsu College.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the 70’s Shizuto Masunaga Sensei, creator of Keiraku shiatsu (meridian shiatsu), delivered four-week correspondence courses providing students with his own purpose-written material. We saw these course books during a visit to the Iokai Shiatsu Centre in Tokyo and given their valuable content decided to translate and publish them. Other than their historical interest, we believe the four volumes (this is the second) will be extremely helpful to shiatsu students, practitioners and teachers alike. The extensive topics covered in the four manuals range from the history of shiatsu, the Japanese legislature on the subject, how to execute pressure and the rules to follow, basic techniques, exercises for he alth, shiatsu as first aid, clinical shiatsu, shiatsu for children and aesthetics.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, the first of a quadrilogy, the author discusses Holistic Palmistry, which teaches us to investigate the surface of the palm, enabling us to recognize the entirety in which a person’s becoming is placed. This helps us make decisions and alter our destiny. Unlike Chiromancy, which interprets destiny as inevitable, Holistic Palmistry believes destiny is in our hands because the signs of existence are drawn and imprinted on them in a continuous exchange and transformation. Thus, the hands ‘speak’ to those who know how to read and listen to them. This text presents theoretical suggestions and reflections with simple historical and philosophical indications but mainly guides us through the main points and methods for reading hands. This offers everyone new possibilities and knowledge.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is a collection of 58 articles published in the 70-80s in the Japanese magazine “Ningen-Igaku” (Human Medicine). Here there are some lines written by the author in the preface: “Western medicine scientifically studies abstract phenomena according to disease name. However, even if a same disease name is given, from the Oriental medicine perspective,I often keenly feel that precise treatment is impossible if you do not consider how patients with similar symptoms might differ in constitution, personality, and environment, which involves very different disease mechanisms and required responses. It occurred to me that people might benefit from reading my impressions of practical experience in those kinds of clinical cases”. These stories are autobiographical and deal intensely with the idea and philosophy of Keiraku shiatsu from the point of view and lifestyle adopted by Masunaga sensei. In this volume, not only he describes the treatments and modalities specific of Iokai, but also the strategy of therapy and the causes of illness, selecting important cases from his own experience. The contents of this book are still relevant and useful for the growth of all shiatsu practitioners/teachers and are very important to perform the treatments considering sho (oriental diagnosis) and kyo and jitsu according to the indications of Shizuto Masunaga.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Zen was popularized in the West largely through the writings of Dr. D.T. Suzuki, who followed the school of Rinzai Zen. Although it remains relatively unknown in the West, Soto Zen eventually attracted the greatest number of followers in Japan. With its gentle, more intellectual approach, Soto Zen relies on deep meditation (zazen) rather than the "sudden," direct method (using koan) of Rinzai Zen, in striving for enlightenment. The Shobogenzo Zuimonki consists largely of brief talks, horatatory remarks, and instructional and cautionary comments by the Soto Zen Master Dogen (1200-1253). Translated, shobogenzo means "the eye of the true law." Roughly translated, zuimonki means "easy for the ears to understand," or "simplified."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 21st century is the time at of the spiritual as well as that of the body. As Carl Gustav Jung beautifully put it, the body is the soul perceived by the five senses. The body can be defined thanks to its matter, its physical and visible structure, but also thanks to its invisible part or spirit, mind. The western world is slowly becoming more aware of the perception of the body while opening up to the concepts of energy and martial arts coming from Far East. The body/mind duality is not so present anymore. Experimenting with the body allows one to find deeper perspectives in the understanding of oneself. Yoga, qigong or Shiatsu, among other disciplines, will allow the western world to discover the wonderful powers of the human body and its capacity to self-heal. Antoine Di Novi, from his activity in his private practice, his interventions with local associations and the corporate world, will give you some of the keys and secrets of Self Shiatsu and Do in, that are considered as health methods in Japan. Do you want to improve your health, maintain your vitality and help your whole family feel better? Don’t wait any longer! Practicing shiatsu when you wake up will help you to boost your day. After lunch it will help you to have a better digestion, before going to bed to sleep better. And it will also help relieve muscular strains in the back, neck, shoulders and even stress-related tensions. Just follow Lian, Sakura, Antoine’s students, along with Koturi the bird and Kuma the bear. Exercise yourself at home or at work easily, thanks to Izumi Asano’s illustrations and Antoine’s instructions.
