Download or read book Leap to Freedom written by Devrah Laval and published by O-Books. This book was released on 2013-08-30 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Whether we are rich or poor, religious, agnostic or atheist, we all suffer because of our unconscious belief in sin and guilt, both of which lie at the core of all our decisions and actions. But what if everything we’ve been taught about sin, and the need to feel guilt, has been a lie? The purpose of this book is to offer a way out from this limited and debilitating belief that we’ve blindly accepted, by exploring how and why sin and guilt are illusions. What if we no longer have to live in fear of suffering and eternal damnation, or be plagued by constant nagging doubt or unworthiness brought on by the beliefs in sin and guilt? What if, instead, we could live every moment in the state of love and peace, and thereby be better able to fulfill our true purpose? ,
Book Synopsis Charles and Emma by : Deborah Heiligman
Download or read book Charles and Emma written by Deborah Heiligman and published by Henry Holt and Company (BYR). This book was released on 2009-01-06 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Charles Darwin published The Origin of Species, his revolutionary tract on evolution and the fundamental ideas involved, in 1859. Nearly 150 years later, the theory of evolution continues to create tension between the scientific and religious communities. Challenges about teaching the theory of evolution in schools occur annually all over the country. This same debate raged within Darwin himself, and played an important part in his marriage: his wife, Emma, was quite religious, and her faith gave Charles a lot to think about as he worked on a theory that continues to spark intense debates. Deborah Heiligman's new biography of Charles Darwin is a thought-provoking account of the man behind evolutionary theory: how his personal life affected his work and vice versa. The end result is an engaging exploration of history, science, and religion for young readers. Charles and Emma is a 2009 National Book Award Finalist for Young People's Literature.

Book Synopsis Mind Leap: Intimate Changes and Communication Between Worlds by : David W. Letts
Download or read book Mind Leap: Intimate Changes and Communication Between Worlds written by David W. Letts and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2009-03-24 with total page 363 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fully revised with Reader's Guide, Self-Exploration Questions, chapter reviews and expanded Moita material. Reading Mind Leap was one of the most delightful experiences of my summer. First, I found it an absolutely intriguing story of personal challenge and human relationships. But second, and most important, I found it highly inspiring. There are many times in my own spiritual journey that I wonder whether it is all worth the effort whether there really is a greater reality. This book is a powerful incentive to keep going, an inspiration and a source of hope! Joyce E. Ansell, literary editor How can we learn to live wholly, with deep intuition, in this world? Where can it lead, for each of us, in this transformative era? We hear follow a path with heart ... listen to your dreams ... open to spirit ... But rare is the book that actually takes us far into that experience. Mind Leap does so by telling a challenging, liberating, true story from the consciousness revolution, and inviting readers to participate by reviewing their own life events and perceptions. A novelist couldn't create spiritual explorers more opposite than Kelly and David: growing up the psychic daughter of an abusive alcoholic and mystic son of an activist minister. But as young adults with other partners, dreams and intuitions pointed each other out, hinting of the natural bridge they would form together. As they were then tested in a crucible of intersecting lives, Moita began to speak through Kelly, initiating an experiment in communication between worlds . Her over 200 interactive sessions, shared with hundreds of participants, have been compared to the Seth material. Mind Leap reveals the hidden workings of spirit that connect us to people and situations we need to grow in strength, freedom and love. The narrative unfolds on many levels, giving a unique inside view of the channeling phenomenon even as the prophetic messages turn from individuals to the crisis/transformation of our Earth. We see you all the time, are near you, yet very rarely can touch, for you do not see us. For you, we are merely a whisper in the trees... We have watched for a great many years, and now there is a drawing together of worlds, a time when the two worlds may touch and not be destroyed by each other, when they may integrate and understand. The coming together of our worlds will not change just yours, but mine. Life will never be the same again. Moita
Download or read book The Big Leap written by Gay Hendricks and published by Harper Collins. This book was released on 2009-04-21 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most of us believe that we will finally feel satisfied and content with our lives when we get the good news we have been waiting for, find a healthy relationship, or achieve one of our personal goals. However, this rarely happens. Good fortune is often followed by negative emotions that overtake us and result in destructive behaviors. "I don't deserve this," "this is too good to be true," or any number of harmful thought patterns prevent us from experiencing the joy and satisfaction we have earned. Sound familiar? This is what New York Times bestselling author Gay Hendricks calls the Upper Limit Problem, a negative emotional reaction that occurs when anything positive enters our lives. The Upper Limit Problem not only prevents happiness, but it actually stops us from achieving our goals. It is the ultimate life roadblock. In The Big Leap, Hendricks reveals a simple yet comprehensive program for overcoming this barrier to happiness and fulfillment, presented in a way that engages both the mind and heart. Working closely with more than one thousand extraordinary achievers in business and the arts—from rock stars to Fortune 500 executives—whose stories are featured in these pages, the book describes the four hidden fears that are at the root of the Upper Limit Problem. The Big Leap delivers a proven method for first identifying which of these four fears prevents us from reaching our personal upper limit, and then breaking through that limitation to achieve what Hendricks refers to as our Zone of Genius. Hendricks provides a clear path for achieving our true potential and attaining not only financial success but also success in love and life.
Book Synopsis Putting God Second by : Donniel Hartman
Download or read book Putting God Second written by Donniel Hartman and published by Beacon Press. This book was released on 2016-02-16 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why have the monotheistic religions failed to produce societies that live up to their ethical ideals? A prominent rabbi answers this question by looking at his own faith and offering a way for religion to heal itself. In Putting God Second, Rabbi Donniel Hartman tackles one of modern life’s most urgent and vexing questions: Why are the great monotheistic faiths—Judaism, Christianity, and Islam—chronically unable to fulfill their own self-professed goal of creating individuals infused with moral sensitivity and societies governed by the highest ethical standards? To answer this question, Hartman takes a sober look at the moral peaks and valleys of his own tradition, Judaism, and diagnoses it with clarity, creativity, and erudition. He rejects both the sweeping denouncements of those who view religion as an inherent impediment to moral progress and the apologetics of fundamentalists who proclaim religion’s moral perfection against all evidence to the contrary. Hartman identifies the primary source of religion’s moral failure in what he terms its “autoimmune disease,” or the way religions so often undermine their own deepest values. While God obligates the good and calls us into its service, Hartman argues, God simultaneously and inadvertently makes us morally blind. The nature of this self-defeating condition is that the human religious desire to live in relationship with God often distracts religious believers from their traditions’ core moral truths. The answer Hartman offers is this: put God second. In order to fulfill religion’s true vision for humanity—an uncompromising focus on the ethical treatment of others—religious believers must hold their traditions accountable to the highest independent moral standards. Decency toward one’s neighbor must always take precedence over acts of religious devotion, and ethical piety must trump ritual piety. For as long as devotion to God comes first, responsibility to other people will trail far, far behind. In this book, Judaism serves as a template for how the challenge might be addressed by those of other faiths, whose sacred scriptures similarly evoke both the sublime heights of human aspiration and the depths of narcissistic moral blindness. In Putting God Second, Rabbi Hartman offers a lucid analysis of religion’s flaws, as well as a compelling resource, and vision, for its repair.

Download or read book The Leap written by Steve Taylor and published by Hay House, Inc. This book was released on 2017-03-07 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is comonly thought that enlightenment is unattainable for ordinary people living in modern Western society and is reserved for monks or gurus leading a spiritually dedicated life in remote locations. After researching mystical experiences and interviewing people who claim to have had them, psychologist Steve Taylor found that normal modern-day people from different faiths and walks of life have also reached modes of higher consciousness. In fact, these experiences are more common than we realize. Drawing on his knowledge of different religious traditions, Taylor set out to find the common features of these awakened states and how the rest of us might also achieve wakefulness. In this book, Taylor uncovers: • The different types of wakefulness: natural, gradual and sudden • The difference between fraudulent spiritual teachers and the genuinely awakened • The sometimes disorienting effects of spiritual awakenings on those who undergo them • How different theories of consciousness explain (or try to debunk) mystical experiences Above all, Taylor reminds us that we don't have to join an ashram in a distant country to attain enlightenment, but that we can find it where we are right now.

Book Synopsis The Greatest Leap of Your Life by : Richard E. Pugh
Download or read book The Greatest Leap of Your Life written by Richard E. Pugh and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2010-11 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We live in a restless world that often seems complicated or difficult to navigate with any sense of real satisfaction or peace. A myriad of influences, distractions, temptations, and responsibilities fill our lives and pull us in many directions. While most of us certainly enjoy good times, even those are measured because the foundation of stability and peace that we all crave is elusive. That missing piece of security in our own lives compromises our ability to experience a consistent joy and peace that can positively affect our entire mental outlook as well as our relationships with family and all others in our lives. This book discusses taking the greatest leap of your life to find a consistent and very real peace and joy in your life. It is a book about God's love for us as expressed through the life of Christ. It is written by a layman who wishes to convey simply and understandably the basic components of the Christian faith and the immense grace and love God has for His children. The study of theology by its very nature is complex and certainly very important. Yet it can in its depth tend to lose its focus on why Jesus Christ came to earth, thus unintentionally confusing or derailing some of us from grasping what's truly important. The author, using a number of experiences from his own life, attempts to simplify the true essence of Christianity and how it can have a powerful impact on you - once you have taken the greatest leap of your life! Richard Pugh, a native of upstate New York, worked more than 40 years in the health care field serving the last 30 years as a hospital CEO. He graduated from Ithaca College and received his MBA at the George Washington University. Mr. Pugh is married and the father of three grown children, and he is active at his local church in Woodbury, Connecticut.
