Book Synopsis The Physics of Elementary Particles by : H. Murihead
Download or read book The Physics of Elementary Particles written by H. Murihead and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2017-01-19 with total page 754 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Physics of Elementary Particles details the physical principles that govern the behavior of elementary particles. The title focuses on discussing the theoretical concepts of elementary particles. The text first tackles the discovery and classification of the elementary particles, and then proceeds to covering the intrinsic properties of the particles. Chapter 3 talks about the preliminaries to a quantized field theory, while Chapter 4 deals with the quantum theory of non-interacting fields. Next, the selection details the symmetry properties of free fields. The next five chapters are dedicated to covering the interaction of fields. The remaining chapters discuss various forms of interaction, such as electromagnetic, weak, and strong. The book will be of great interest to physicists, particularly those who specialize in quantum mechanics.

Book Synopsis Physics of Elementary Particles by : John David Jackson
Download or read book Physics of Elementary Particles written by John David Jackson and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2015-12-08 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an introductory account of the physics of elementary particles and their interactions, with a minimum of formal apparatus and an ease of reading which, at present, is found in few other books in physics. It is designed for graduate students and for physicists not specializing in the field. The various phenomena are interpreted and correlated largely by means of elementary theoretical arguments needing little background beyond a first course in quantum mechanics. Numerous references to the original literature will allow the reader to probe more deeply into the topics discussed. Selected topics include scattering, photoproduction, K-mesons and hyperons, theoretical models, weak decay processes, and analysis of recent experiments on nonconservation of parity. Originally published in 1958. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. These editions preserve the original texts of these important books while presenting them in durable paperback and hardcover editions. The goal of the Princeton Legacy Library is to vastly increase access to the rich scholarly heritage found in the thousands of books published by Princeton University Press since its founding in 1905.
Book Synopsis Three-particle Physics and Dispersion Relation Theory by : A. V. Anisovich
Download or read book Three-particle Physics and Dispersion Relation Theory written by A. V. Anisovich and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2013 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The necessity of describing three-nucleon and three-quark systems have led to a constant interest in the problem of three particles. The question of including relativistic effects appeared together with the consideration of the decay amplitude in the framework of the dispersion technique. The relativistic dispersion description of amplitudes always takes into account processes connected with the investigated reaction by the unitarity condition or by virtual transitions; in the case of three-particle processes they are, as a rule, those where other many-particle states and resonances are produced. The description of these interconnected reactions and ways of handling them is the main subject of the book.
Book Synopsis Particle Physics: An Introduction by : M Leon
Download or read book Particle Physics: An Introduction written by M Leon and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Particle Physics: An Introduction provides information pertinent to particle physics, including symmetries, quantum mechanics, particle kinematics, and wave equations. This book explains the Lorentz transformation, which relates events as seen in two inertial coordinate systems. Comprised of 12 chapters, this book starts with an overview of the general relationship between energy and momentum. This text then explains the various components of the electric and magnetic fields, which are related by Maxwell's equations. Other chapters review the abstract formalism of quantum mechanics as well as explain the functions of cross sections and decay rates in particle physics. This book discusses as well the function of quantum field theory in predicting S-matrix elements and cross sections that can be compared with experiments. The final chapter deals with strong interaction dynamics as well as introduces Regge poles and dispersion relations. Seniors and graduate students involved in the study of physics will find this book extremely useful.
Book Synopsis A Brief Introduction to Dispersion Relations by : José Antonio Oller
Download or read book A Brief Introduction to Dispersion Relations written by José Antonio Oller and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-03-22 with total page 141 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text offers a brief introduction to the dispersion relations as an approach to calculate S-matrix elements, a formalism that allows one to take advantage of the analytical structure of scattering amplitudes following the basic principles of unitarity and causality. First, the case of two-body scattering is considered and then its contribution to other processes through final-state interactions is discussed. For two-body scattering amplitudes, the general expression for a partial-wave amplitude is derived in the approximation where the crossed channel dynamics is neglected. This is taken as the starting point for many interesting nonperturbative applications, both in the light and heavy quark sector. Subsequently crossed channel dynamics is introduced within the equations for calculating the partial-wave amplitudes. Some applications based on methods that treat crossed-channel dynamics perturbatively are discussed too. The last part of this introductory treatment is dedicated to the further impact of scattering amplitudes on a variety of processes through final-state interactions. Several possible approaches are discussed such as the Muskhelishvili-Omnes dispersive integral equations and other closed formulae. These different formalisms are then applied in particular to the study of resonances presenting a number of challenging properties. The book ends with a chapter illustrating the use of dispersion relations in the nuclear medium for the evaluation of the energy density in nuclear matter.
