Download or read book Water Quality Evaluation of Aquatic Systems written by R. G. Willey and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Several example applications of water quality models were discussed to provide background into the development of a comprehensive mathematical model capable of evaluating water quality conditions in any river-reservoir system. A need exists for a river-reservoir water quality model which can be continuously updated and maintained with the best available concepts. The 'Water Quality for River-Reservoir Systems' (WQRRS) model was developed by the Hydrologic Engineering Center (HEC) to meet these needs. The HEC continuously updates the WQRRS based on the advantages of water quality research work brought to their attention. (Author).

Book Synopsis Flood Damage Assessments Using Spatial Data Management Techniques by : Darryl W. Davis
Download or read book Flood Damage Assessments Using Spatial Data Management Techniques written by Darryl W. Davis and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Corps of Engineers Hydrologic Engineering Center has developed techniques that perform the spatial data analysis approach and individual structure approach and work is near completion on an integrated analysis package. The capability therefore exists to perform damage appraisals in a manner that encourages a general geographic and land use approach (thus greatly facilitating the study of nonstructural measures) while preserving the ability to analyze individual, unique structures should the need arise. This paper discusses the basic concepts of a spatial data management approach to damage appraisals and highlight(s) its integrated use with more traditional individual structure approaches. Selected example results are presented"--Page 2
Book Synopsis The Development and Servicing of Spatial Data Management Techniques in the Corps of Engineers by : R. Pat Webb
Download or read book The Development and Servicing of Spatial Data Management Techniques in the Corps of Engineers written by R. Pat Webb and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is using spatial data management techniques in studies that are structured in a manner that requires spatial data management techniques to play a central and dominant role. The Corps of Hydrologic Engineering Center (HEC) provided the basic developmental work on the spatial data management and attendant processing techniques and it is continuing in the role of the basic technology transfer agent. The significant efforts required to document, maintain and service the technology and provide ready consultation service reported herein were planned for during the developmental efforts and are currently being centrally managed to encourage smooth adoption of the techniques by Corps field offices. Book Synopsis Adjustment of Peak Discharge Rates for Urbanization by : David L. Gundlach
Download or read book Adjustment of Peak Discharge Rates for Urbanization written by David L. Gundlach and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Various investigators have shown that changes from rural to urban conditions within a watershed, in general, significantly affect flood flows. Recorded annual peak discharge rates (or peak discharge rates above a given base) for a basin that has been undergoing a change in land-use conditions represent a nonstationary time series. The series must be adjusted to a specific land-use condition (typically present conditions) prior to performing a statistical frequency analysis. It was the aim of this note to present a procedure utilizing a single event rainfall-runoff model for transforming recorded peak discharges at a gaging station to a consistent set that reflects existing land-use conditions. Methods presented can be used as a guide to determine an existing-condition discharge frequency curve of annual peaks (or peak discharge rates above a given base) when utilizing a single event rainfall-runoff model. The multiplan-ratio option of HEC-1 permits the user to calculate systematically the hdyrologic response of several storm events for a given set of land-use conditions. The adjustment procedure described is also applicable when predicting runoff for estimated future conditions. (Author).
