Book Synopsis Ultrasonics International 91 by : Sam Stuart
Download or read book Ultrasonics International 91 written by Sam Stuart and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 697 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ultrasonics International 91 is a documentation of conference proceedings that discusses the status and future of acoustic microscopy and its application to materials research, especially focusing on its quantitative analyses. Acoustic microscopy, using focused waves, has been receiving increased attention as a technology applicable to materials characterization at the microscopic scale. In acoustic microscopy, the excitation and propagation of leaky surface acoustic waves (LSAWs) in the environment of the coupling liquid at the solid specimens are observed. Three types of the systems have been developed: point-focus-beam (PFB), line-focus-beam (LFB), and directional PFB acoustic microscopes. In this paper, a brief history of the practical developments is first presented, followed by LFB acoustic microscopy for quantitative material characterization and some applications concerned with characterization of elastic anisotropy and inhomogeneity of electronic materials, such as LiNb03 and LiTa03 single crystals, and thin-film characterization. This book gives a comprehensive account of the majority of the oral and poster contributions made during the conference, and makes a valuable addition to a student or researchers' ultrasonic literature.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Principles of Optics is one of the most highly cited and most influential physics books ever published, and one of the classic science books of the twentieth century. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of this remarkable book's first publication, the seventh expanded edition has been reprinted with a special foreword by Sir Peter Knight. The seventh edition was the first thorough revision and expansion of this definitive text. Amongst the material introduced in the seventh edition is a section on CAT scans, a chapter on scattering from inhomogeneous media, including an account of the principles of diffraction tomography, an account of scattering from periodic potentials, and a section on the so-called Rayleigh–Sommerfield diffraction theory. This expansive and timeless book continues to be invaluable to advanced undergraduates, graduate students and researchers working in all areas of optics.
Download or read book University Physics written by OpenStax and published by . This book was released on 2016-11-04 with total page 622 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: University Physics is a three-volume collection that meets the scope and sequence requirements for two- and three-semester calculus-based physics courses. Volume 1 covers mechanics, sound, oscillations, and waves. Volume 2 covers thermodynamics, electricity and magnetism, and Volume 3 covers optics and modern physics. This textbook emphasizes connections between between theory and application, making physics concepts interesting and accessible to students while maintaining the mathematical rigor inherent in the subject. Frequent, strong examples focus on how to approach a problem, how to work with the equations, and how to check and generalize the result. The text and images in this textbook are grayscale.
