Book excerpt: Magisterarbeit aus dem Jahr 2009 im Fachbereich Sprachwissenschaft / Sprachforschung (fachübergreifend), Note: 1,0, Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen (Institut für Sprach- und Kommunikationswissenschaft), Veranstaltung: -, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Das neugewonnene Interesse der Geistes- und Kulturwissenschaften am Bild führt dazu, dass sich mehr und mehr eine eigene Bildtheorie oder gar -wissenschaft herauskristallisiert, die versucht, die medialen Grundeigenschaften von Bildern zu klären. Eine unter bildtheoretisch interessierten Forschern weitverbreiteten Strategie zur Festlegung eines Forschungsfundaments besteht darin, den Begriff des Bildes zunächst von dem der Sprache abzugrenzen. Doch dabei offenbart sich eine zu naive Auffassung von Sprache. Insbesondere wird kaum zwischen oraler Sprache und Schrift unterschieden. Allzu oft vergleichen Theoretiker Bilder mit Schrift und nicht mit oraler Sprache, ohne dies zu bemerken. Die These dieser Arbeit lautet, dass gesprochene und geschriebene Sprache zwei verschiedene Medien sind. Dass Medien sich ihrem Inhalt gegenüber nicht neutral verhalten, sondern diesen prägen. Und dass Erkenntnisse, die anhand der Schrift gewonnen werden, nicht auf die Sprache an sich übertragen werden können. Doch damit noch nicht genug, denn es gilt die besondere Rolle der Alphabetschrift, als nur eines von vielen existierenden Schriftsystemen, zu berücksichtigen. Argumentationsverlauf Zunächst werden sowohl die Bildtheorie als auch die Sprachwissenschaft in den Rahmen einer allgemeinen Medientheorie stellen. Es wird also von der Prämisse ausgegangen, dass Bilder und Sprache Medien sind. Anschließend werden die Medien Schrift und orale Sprache unterschieden und die These von der Medienneutralität der Sprache wird widerlegt. Die so gewonnenen Begriffe werden mit den Thesen zeitgenössischer Bildtheorien verglichen. Dabei werden die drei Hauptströmungen der Bildtheorie exemplarisch einzeln geprüft. Anschließend wird un
