Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Due to the mature market and slow demand growth of refined glycerol, there are not enough financial incentives for refining whole crude glycerol from the biodiesel industry. New markets for glycerol can be created by developing processes that consume glycerol as their raw material, e.g. catalytic aerobic glycerol oxidation. On the one hand, very few studies elaborate the development of continuous glycerol oxidation processes. On the other hand, the study of the continuous system might give a better picture of the industrial application of this process. Therefore, besides giving a brief report on the batchwise catalytic aerobic glycerol process, this thesis describes the development of a continuous catalytic glycerol oxidation process, especially as a magnetic slurry-catalyst system.

Book Synopsis Modern Trends in Biothermokinetics by : J.P. Mazat
Download or read book Modern Trends in Biothermokinetics written by J.P. Mazat and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 485 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book includes articles relating to presentations given in a variety of forms (lectures, posters, contributions to round tables, software presentations) at the 5th International Biothermokinetics Meeting held in Bordeaux-Bombannes, September 23-26, 1992. The fact that not just lectures were considered for these proceedings reflects the aims of BTK meetings to instigate discussion, promote scientific cooperation and confront as many different ideas as possible with each other (at best heretical ones). BTK conferences have expanded more and more; 130 participants came to the 1992 meeting from 20 countries. It was therefore necessary to hold the round tables in parallel sessions. It is difficult to have an unbiased feeling of what should be selected as the salient features of the meeting. As the name suggests, Biothermokinetics embraces thermodynamic and kinetic approaches to experimental and theoretical investigations of biological processes, in particular at the cellular level. This "classical" point of view is mainly represented in the chapter "Thermodynamics and Kinetics of Transport Processes and Biological Energy Transduction".

Book Synopsis Glycerine Production and Transformation by : Marco Frediani
Download or read book Glycerine Production and Transformation written by Marco Frediani and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2019-09-11 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The increase in the amount of glycerin in the market is a burden for all producers, especially those operating in the biodiesel sector: reuse options are in fact limited for the management of this by-product. Glycerol enhancement has therefore become a priority to improve the sustainability of the biodiesel industry. Nevertheless, the multifunctionality of glycerol makes it a promising precursor for different types of production (fuel/biofuel, chemical products). This conversion has therefore become a subject of multifaceted research that requires an exchange of knowledge across many sectors. In this book, different disciplines (chemistry, biology, engineering, etc.) have been taken into consideration to propose an interdisciplinary point of view on different aspects.
