Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication includes peer-reviewed manuscripts from the 2009 International Network of Environmental Forensics (INEF) held in Calgary, Canada on August 31 through September 1, 2009. INEF is an organization founded by environmental forensic scientists for the express purpose of sharing and disseminating environmental forensic information to the international scientific community. Environmental forensic information presented at the Calgary conference included topics on contaminant age dating, chemical biomarkers, environmental statistics, the interpretation of forensic data, emerging analytical techniques used in forensic investigations, legal sampling and strategies, petroleum hydrocarbon fingerprinting and diagnostic markers used to age date chlorinated solvents. All of these topics were presented in the context of using these techniques to ultimately identify the origin and age of contaminants released into the environment. This professionally edited book is the first of a series of conference publications chronicling the current state of the art in environmental forensics. The intent of this publication and subsequent INEF conference volumes is to compile a library of state of the art scientific articles dealing with environmental forensic topics.
Book Synopsis Indian Emission Norms and Practices by : Mr P. Vignesh
Download or read book Indian Emission Norms and Practices written by Mr P. Vignesh and published by bohrpub. This book was released on with total page 301 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In India, vehicle emission standards were implemented in 1991 for gasoline vehicles and in 1992 for diesel vehicles. Since 2000, Euro standards have been followed in India under the name Bharat Stage Emission Standards for four-wheeled vehicles. Since October 2010, Bharat Stage III norms have been implemented throughout India. Bharat Stage IV norms have been in effect in a few cities since April 2010. Bharat Stage IV is expected to be implemented throughout India by April 2017. It is already in use in 13 major cities. Upgrading the emission standards necessitates the upgrading of manufacturing companies' technology, which raises the cost of the vehicle. One of the main reasons for the slow upgrade of emission standards is cost. However, there are some who argue that the cost increase is offset by cost savings in health care because the pollutants that cause disease are reduced as emission standards are raised. Fuels are also important in meeting these emission standards. Fuel specifications have also been aligned with the corresponding European production norms.

Book Synopsis Emerging Contaminants by : Kathleen Sellers
Download or read book Emerging Contaminants written by Kathleen Sellers and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-11-15 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Emerging Contaminants: Anticipating Developments examines the factors that have led "new" environmental contaminants to emerge in the past and combines the lessons learned to anticipate potential new developments. The analyses described in this book originate in multiple disciplines: the science of toxicology; environmental law and regulation; the field of product stewardship; and the social science which explains why ideas take hold. Over a dozen case studies of contaminants that emerged as environmental issues over the last hundred years illustrate crucial points. The results of the analyses in this book support a step-by-step method to assess the potential for a contaminant to emerge, and a framework to apply those conclusions to managing site liabilities. Features: Describes an unprecedented understanding of why contaminants emerge as issues, based on a multidisciplinary analysis Makes abstract concepts tangible, basing analyses on data and illustrating key points with case studies Enables readers to anticipate and prepare to manage future challenges associated with emerging chemicals Presents an analytical framework for companies to assess and manage business risks Written for regulators, policymakers, industry professionals with responsibility for contaminated site management, as well as attorneys, and consultants, this book provides a framework for anticipating the emergence of new contaminants so that the risks–whether to human health and the environment or to a business–can be anticipated and appropriately managed.
